Yo most of her achievements she stated I can relate with and when she said she was deemed a gifted student from 5th grade reminded me of when my 5th grade teacher told my mom at student conferences that I was ready to start earning college credit

Hi, I have a really long question, and I'm an incoming freshman. So my school gave me the wrong classes, for example they gave me geometry when the highest I can take is Algebra 2. I emailed them a few times, but they still haven't changed my schedule. Would my chances of getting into an ivy league school be ruined since Im not taking the highest level classes that I can take because my school isn't letting me? This isn't just for math; this is also for my elective which is also a very low level class. Can I still get into a really good school with all of this going on in the background?

This definitely shouldn't affect your chances of getting into an Ivy League! Usually, on the Common Application and other college applications, there is a section that you fill out titled "Additional Information/ Comments." In that section, you could explain your situation to admissions officers who read your application. That is completely out of your control, so you won't be penalized for it. Sometimes, schools don't allow underclassmen to take certain advanced, college, or AP classes. You might have to be in a higher grade to take the class, which is fine. But if freshmen can take Algebra 2, and they aren't letting you, you might want to have your parents contact the administrators. That doesn't seem fair. The "Additional Info" section of the college application is also very useful for explaining extreme circumstances that may have affected your ability to do your best. If someone made really low grades one semester due to a death in their family that affected them, the admissions office would be understanding of their situation.

I would definitely keep emailing, though, and maybe even call so that you can get your schedule sorted out before classes get settled in.

Heyy! So I did full IB and I finished my Junior year with a 3.6 gpa. Do you think I have a chance with Harvard?
@dxyonna
@dxyonna 3 года назад
YES! You definitely have a chance with Harvard! Perfect grades and/or perfect ACT/SAT scores will not guarantee anyone an acceptance, and most schools are looking at essays and students' leadership capabilities. As long as you show that you are involved in your school with extracurriculars or volunteering and make a good impression in your interviews, you have a chance at any school you like!

What’s your SAT score? 😊
@dxyonna
@dxyonna 4 года назад
Hey! Where I live, we typically take the ACT, so I wasn’t required to take the SAT. My ACT score roughly translates to a 1400 to 1410 in SAT’s scale.
