About 1980 I dated a tall good looking female fashion model that rode a motorcycle all over the streets and freeways of Dallas, Tx. She had no tattoos, didn't drink alcohol or smoke but she just felt at home on a motorcycle although she had a new automobile. She said she had rode them for as long as she could remember. Her dad and brothers drove motorcycles too. She took me to her house for the first time with me following her motorcycle. Brings back good memories. Refreshing to see a RU-vid channel with some substance.

Started as a teen on my grandfather’s Honda 90; he was a farmer and used the bike to get to his fields to irrigate. Then rode a Suzuki 125 during high school. Then I took over my dad’s Suzuki 450 during college. After graduating, I didn’t get on a motorcycle for 30 years. One day my 22 year old son told me that he had a dream in which he was riding a motorcycle, and he was thereafter intent on pursuing it. He and I enrolled together in a beginner’s course, obtained license endorsements and bought bikes (Vulcan 650 for him, Triumph Speed Twin for me). We have since enjoyed many rides together. So for the two of us, it was providence that led us to motorcycling!

We have similar childhood stories! I grew up on dirt bikes and always swore I would ride a motorcycle before a car at 16. Here I am at 29, two kids(done there haha) and ready to get back on a bike! i rode dirt bikes as a kid but quite after a pretty bad burn on my leg. When I Was 19 I decided to buy a street bike to help me get over my fears. I love it now. Don't think ill ever stop.

Megan i'm 48 now and I started riding motorcycles back in 1995. My father got his hands on a 1974 cb750 honda that had been sitting in a barn for 8 years. Him and I restored it, got it up and running, and it wasn't long before I got my endorsement and began riding that bike. Fast forward to today.... 2 weeks ago I picked up a 2004 Suzuki Volusia 800 that I got for an absolute steal. Guy was the 3rd owner, the bike only had 16K on it, and so I drove 3 hours (each way) to trailer it home because it was 28 degrees out. LOL. I share this with you because I love this video. I love that you are open enough about your experiences, and that you love what you ride. I think it's important to find out what works for you (motorcycle wise) and then run with it. Sure I love to see Indian Chieftans or Harley Street Glides, but I also enjoy having no back pain from moving heavy bikes around ;) Please keep doing you, and I will keep watching. No one in my fam was ever into bikes. I've always wanted one. My father-in-law and his bro were Harley guys. Once i was able to, I got a cheap Chinese POS scooter, then upgraded to a cheap Chinese POS enduro. Now I ride a Japanese beauty, 2016 Yamaha Stryker. Love it!!

I'm an old fogey, but grew up riding dirt bikes as a kid. My last dirt bike I bought when I was in the Navy was 1992 KDX 200. That bike was a lot of fun. Well, I haven't really ridden a motorcycle in about 20 years, but am getting the itch again. My brother and I are planning riding parts of the New Mexico BDR. In about a month (late July/early August 2023) I'll be getting my first road bike, the Aprilia Tuareg 660. I'm definitely looking forward to getting back out there.

Yeh, starting on dirt bikes is the real way to go. Basically you are riding on the edge all the time and it teaches great survivor skills for the street. Riding dirt bikes is reactive because you can't predict what's coming next. Riding on the street is proactive because you know where the turns are. Dirt bikes teach how to quickly react to avoid a crash. This skill is priceless on the street like reacting to the jerk that just cut you off or stopped short to turn with no warning. I started on minibikes when I was a kid, got heavily into motocross racing through my teens and onto street bikes after high school. This past summer I culled my heard of 9 bikes down to 2. My Triumph Thruxton R and my Yamaha YZF600R Track bike... But, I recently bought a new Triumph Tiger 1200 XCX with all the options and Saturday I picked up my new Triumph MOTO2 765 Daytona! Now I'm back to 4. This is the last Daytona Triumph will ever make and there are only 765 of them for all of the Americas and 765 for the rest of the world, That's it forever. I've spent over 50 years eating, sleeping, breathing and dreaming of motorcycles. Meghan, once you are bitten by the motorcycle bug, it is a FOREVER passion and becomes an integral part of your existence. I am glad that you weren't just bitten but STUNG buy the bug!!! I've watched your channel since the beginning and your enthusiasm just keeps going up. I don't think anyone could ever pry your Ducati Scrambler Cafe Racer from your cold dead hands! LOL! Thank you for your story! I always wanted to become a motorcyclist and met a lot of resistance when I express this idea as well! You inspired me to get more serious and reconsider motorcycle again. Your video is really useful for female riders and those who want to become one!

i love hearing how people got into riding! i started on a ninja 250, that was a fun little thing. stayed with it for 2 years! then upgrade to a 636 when i moved 😁

My wife found a coupon for some $$amount (I don't remember how much) off of a Vespa 50. At the time I had a car that ran on premium, and premium was over $4 /gallon. So why not? We bought one. 8000 miles or so later, I got the 300, and now looking at the 750's. She got a Buddy 50, upgraded it to a 70, then I won a PCX 125 in a drawing at a dealer open house, so she sold the buddy and took over the PCX. Then this year we upgraded her to a new PCX 150.

Awesome, thanks for sharing your story! I rode offroad when I was a kid too (80cc 2/3rd sized dirt bike) - then I didn't get my licence until 10 years ago and my first bike was an SV650 - I wish I'd done it sooner and wish I'd started my channel sooner too as the last 10 years have been wild....

Would love to hear your thoughts on the Triumph Trident. Looks like a good competitor to the Scrambler line. I'm considering upgrading to one from my Ninja 400.

My first ride was a Honda 125 trail bike that my brothers broke. My folks also had a Vespa for several years ... that my brothers kept burning out. My first bike was a moped when I lived in Italy for a couple years, but I upgraded to a Honda CM450 when I landed in Las Vegas and not being able to keep up with traffic was too dangerous in that town. Put 10,000 miles per year for 3 years on that trooper.A couple of years later in DC I was alloted $900 to buy suits for work and I bought a Kawasaki KZ650D that I outfitted with 3/4 windscreen, soft foam handgrips, cruise control, fork bag, tank bag, double bucket touring seats, saddle bags and probably a trunk. Rode up and down the East Coast with that for a few years, then it sat in the garage for a couple years because I was traveling all the time, so I traded it for a computer. Was out of garage and off bikes for a couple decades, had some health issues and could barely manage a 50cc Honda Ruckus for 6 more months while recovering, then picked up a Suzuku GS650 GL that I kitted for touring which I did by the end of the season after passing the MSF beginners course again. Forgot a lot! Really took 6 months to actually get comfortable on it; but I realized I wanted something, lighter, lower to the ground and certain features built in, and I picked up a 250cc Honda Helix with a more comfortable seat even with the improvements to the Suzuki. Helix maxes out at 72 downhill with no wind; 68 or 9 on windless flats, which is fine for me. I prefer the US and state routes over Interstates; but I can hop on if I need to; but I’m mostly in the right lane. Great for sheer enjoyment, relaxation, ease of parking and shopping for two. Still like the Ruckus for commuting, in town, sight seeing and hauling bulk. Planning on taking the Helix or a Honda Trail out to The Grand Canyon and the Alien HIghway next year. Practice some overnight motocamping first if things go back to abnormal!. Longest ride on the Suzi was 500+ miles to just above Mackinac Island - got stuck late at night after heavy rain while it was still windy crossing The Mighty Mac on the grill because the paved lane was being fixed. Not a fun 5 miles. Longest ride on the Helix for one day was 405 miles of country and river/coastal (if you pretend Kentucky isn’t there) riding. Pretty good day! Went to the Mothman Museum in Point Pleasant WV.

As a rebel I decided that I was going to do a driver's license my way (not parents' way of a cage). Did it on the sly. When parents found out, mother gave me the shpiel about femininity and how I was not behaving according to tired old tropes of girly girls. Riding my first bike in my first year: lovely Kawasaki Vulcan S650.

If you are still intrigued with the Honda Rebel 500 look at the new Honda Rebel 1100 that was introduced about 10 days after this video. Would make a great cruising bike that is a more comfortable mid peg control and body position. It is also light weight under 500 lbs and with almost 90 horsepower and 35 degrees of lean angle. All sorts on new tech on it with 3 riding modes, traction control, usb charging, abs, and cruise control and more. Will be at Honda dealers in early 2021 and great price of $9300. Continued success with your channel and I hope you inspire more woman to get into riding.

nice,love to ride as well. i have done so far by the 100 ooo kms riding motorbike, is fun and useful in mayor cities ´cause of the traffic. the only thing i notice when riding far, live in colombia, is that when it rains u feel cold meaning not confy, but is the deal. but there is some outfit i think, gear, that will keep u dry and not hot at the same time. must look for some proper gear really. cheers and great u love the 2 wheels 2.

I rode dirt bikes when I was super young ... and bought an 82 Suzuki 750 GSE in 2016! I hated that bike and am glad I have the bikes I have now as the are way less stressful and they WORK :)

I’m just waiting for my state to open back up the DMV so I can get my motorcycle endorsement. Miliwaukee is a nice town, our second oldest attends college at MSOE in your town. Never rode until I was 30. Wished I had ridden earlier, it’s such an experience. Will be trading in my tuono for a Yamaha xsr900 since I’m too tempted with speeding over 160 🤷🏽‍♂️

You seem to have a true love for riding, given the way you talk about it with that inspiring enthusiasm. I was wondering what literature might have played a role in cultivating that love for bikes and riding. Do you read books on riding, like the wonderful book "Lone Rider" by Elspeth Beard about her epic ride around the world (that I, by the way, highly recommend to all of your subscribers not just as a travel log but as a wonderfully engaging piece of literature). Or Ted Simon's famous books about his travels around the world? Or perhaps "The Perfect Vehicle" by Melissa Holbrook Pierson, another female rider who is deeply passionate about riding? This might perhaps be a nice idea for a vlog: on riding and literature? Of course Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance should be mentioned in this series also. (I'm myself now reading Oliver Sacks' "On the Move", which is about his life and his love for riding as well. )

Something with gears gets you enough speed to get in and out of traffic. I've never been a fan of mopeds. They usually don't have enough pickup or top end to ride in the traffic, so they're stuck lane splitting between the traffic and parked cars. Not a good place to be in my opinion. The two bikes you've had are both excellent choices. 👍😎
