I loved this Claire as I am really interested in (changing my/) a career in(to) publishing and it is interesting to hear ho you did it! And to hear about your personal experience as well!
This was actually incredibly helpful and informative, thank you so much for sharing your journey! Also, every time I watch one of your videos I put it in the background as if it was a podcast episode because your voice relaxes me so much
Hi Claire! As someone who wants to work in publishing in the UK (I'm from Argentina) and looking to apply to an MA at York, your videos have been really helpful. I wrote to you on instagram but maybe the message didn't get through the inbox? Looking forward to your next videos :)
It's really encouraging to hear how many stages it took before you got your role, because I've had a lot of rejections in my career journey (not related to publishing). That being said, you're completely right that it's important to take steps to create a better future for yourself. Thanks so much for sharing!!
Thank you! I definitely thought it was important to highlight the different stages as even though there was only 6 months since my MA and getting my internship in publishing a lot happened behind the scenes. I hope all goes well for you in your career journey 🖤
I've followed your channel for ages. Great to hear how you're getting on with publishing and how your RU-vid experience helped you. I'm currently in the process of applying for jobs and never know if I should put RU-vid on my CV or not... Like, it's taught me so much about filming, editing and interacting with the publishers who send review copies, but I never know if employers will like the sound of it or not, if that makes sense? I suppose it depends on the industry. For the more "creative" roles (social media/digital marketing work etc.) the response has generally been quite positive.
oh god the application process sounds so intimidating! sooo many steps and interviews it’s insane. do you know if that’s just for the bigger publishing houses?
also, if that offer for reading cover letters is still up in about a year and a half (when i’ll be close to graduating) i’ll definitely take that up lol ♥️
