How I got my HGV License for FREE! 

I'm one of the lucky ones I was unemployed and our local city council had a transport academy for unemployed to which at the end you got your class 2 licence all paid for, my lessons start tomorrow and my test is on Saturday, theory and module 4 complete! Honeslty so excited and to top it off im not inclined to work for the council or anything I already have a job to which I get put straight into a rigid! Love your content brothaaa!

I've just done class 2 free on the PLA scheme. Had a job and left after 3 weeks and gone back to buses. The job I was at majorly stressed me out and hated getting up in the morning for work. Be careful it might not for everybody but I also might not have found the right job for me yet

I too got my HGV licence for free and been paid my full time salary even when had driving lessons during my working hours 😎 I didn't went for the apprenticeship, just happend to be working at the warehouse for the company with their own fleet and they asked me if I would be interested in it if they pay for it. Obviously said yes and as still working for them it's was and still is win-win scenario. I am doing what I actually like and don't feel too much like actual work to me and they taking massive advantage of that I can still work in the warehouse and deliver the goods.

Personally, my workplace (local authority) used the recent government scheme to fund my Class 2 license. If I'd had the foresight. I'd have gained my class 2 many moons ago! It's been my plan to gain my class 1 at some point but all in time. I want to gain some experience first. I personally feel going from Cat B to CE (artics) is a bad idea (controversial, but opinion) I no longer work for them. I'm now working for Evri, doing night trunking work between a main hub and sub-depots, driving a 12t Iveco Eurocargo box unit or an 18t DAF CF Box unit. I love the night work. Barely any traffic and the management team leaves you to get on with it. Perfect!!

My boss paid for mine totally free always going on about what training do u want just incase something happens to the company you always have something to go to so i took it 😂

I did have my class c through the job centre. Unfortunately I was too ill and couldn't afford the medical costs. I had no choice but let my HGV license expire 😢

Wow who cares about wind Speeds, it was Windy, Wet and not nice to drive in. You can have 2 Trucks built the same and carrying the same and they both would handle it different. Its all about that Gust and angle it catches you at. I thought you coped well James. As for today, as Luke C would say, thats was Snug. Probably before HGV License you already had drivers lincese. In Latvia, at least from unemployment agency there are offers about getting license for trucking or any work releated transports (or different license is needed for other transports), but if you already have drivers license.

Managed get on the government funded bootcamp myself after being told I was getting made redundant, i got class 1 licence and all costs covered love it 👌 keep up the great videos

coming to the end of a apprenticeship government funded, work sponsord. so gove are feeding RHA money to runt he course, my work paying for the time and what not. been a bit of a drag but finaly go to peterborough in december to complete the dirving portion and get the licence. right up to c/e, but being taught all the riff raff inbetween, so idealy we dont hit the road as a clueless tool that rushed it.

Hi TWJ ! So I was wondering with all the tight road work you do down there in D&C Has your company ever thought off buying a truck that has rear wheel steering? Wish I knew it wouldn't have cost me a penny to do my class 2 payed just under 2k to get mine. I know how it feels to drive down tight roads being a dust wagon driver. I do wonder how some people pass there car test with the parking

Hello! This is the exactly the same as my PSV license I got it completely free and I’ve been in this line of work for about a year now and really have enjoyed it!

I got my PSV through working for a bus company, tbh honest I would have rather done my HGV but shit happens lol . I'm happy driving a sprinter now , lorry drivers put up with a lot of crap from car drivers , respect to you mate . Regarding the drivers pushing in a quie at the last minute minute , some drivers have no patience. That's how accidents happen.

I was going to go down that route but i decided to pay for it my self at the time i done mine u still had to do the class 2 for a year so if i wanted to leave the company at any time ie u dont like the job or the place etc there would be no issues with it I spoke to a Hgv Trainer with 10 years exp in this field about this he told me that there is very little a company can do if u leave before the 1 year is up even if they try rope u in a contract....in exchange for the licence.....the most they can do is just deduct u last months wages thats it so make sure u leave the day u get paid....they cant actually do anything about it....

Awesome vlog James. Good info on how to get your HGV licence. The company I work for paid for my practical fir my class 1. I'd already done my CPC myself by the time I started working for them. Have you thought about doing your class1?

I got my class 2 for free as well, I was a van driver for the company I work for and they offered to put me through my class 2, couldn't say no

Nicely done on the tight entry. Reminded me of when i did a couple days agency driving for a scaffolding company, and their yard was down a right tight bendy estate with cars either side, niiiightmare.

I did my direct access to class one with Gregory's. I still work for them driving a Plymouth to London night trunk.

It’s even better now with the government boot camps. Currently doing my class 2 and haven’t paid a single penny

I work with the elderly and want to get into trucking ive managed to save 2k to get my hgv license. I’ve had the medical and now revising for the theory but I keep being told I wont get a job driving truck’s because I have no experience and most companies want atleast one year’s experience. Did you find it hard to get a job at first?
