Brenda Tan - Congrats Brenda. I too got Ortho-K lenses and because I'm much older than you - it took MUCH longer to work. It worked right away, but would fade very quickly. It was worth hanging in there. I see 20-15 most days and at worst 20-25. The only 'off' days are because I touch my eyes when I sleep occasionally. As you say - this is HUGE. This is not a trip to Vegas, or maybe even a trip to Venice, LOL. To be able to see the world - glasses, terrible, contacts MUCH better, but even contacts can't compare to seeing a clear world without any aids. Things look different, plain and simple. It's a source of joy every day.

Oh i agree COMPLETELY. 2 years on, this is still something I'm so so grateful I tried and it's changed how I view the world (no pun intended) and how I show up in it completely. Source of joy is such a great way to put it!!

Hi Brenda, thank you for making this video review. So thorough and helpful! I'm also currently considering to try Ortho K, however as you mentioned, there are a few cons that I'm still ruminating about, as it requires high commitment to stick to a good night time routine for it to be effective. Nevertheless, I'm happy to see such positive experience from someone else (reassuring!) and so glad to see how it has significantly improved your quality of life. 💗

From Google biggest con seems to be: “Can Ortho-K permanently correct vision? No. It's temporary. If you stop wearing Ortho-K Lenses regularly while you sleep, your vision will return to its original state in as little as 72 hours.” I got Lasik like 15+ years ago and only now did I finally get glasses again

Hey!! Thank you so much, I'm glad you found it helpful! Yeah, the commitment definitely requires more effort and thought but the process of application and removal is quite seamless once you're used to it, and it actually helps me plan my night time a little better to avoid all nighters and excessive late nights. Some nights I have my exceptions haha, but as long as they aren't multiple nights in a row, it's ok! For me, because everything else doesn't work, the pros far outweigh the cons so i'm motivated to keep to a routine as it's definitely improved my life a lot. I hope you make a decision that works well for your lifestyle too!

Thanks for this thorough review! I have a few qns: - Do you have to go for regular consults during these 3 yrs? - Is the cost ($2.6k-$3.2k) for 3 yrs or annually? - After 3 yrs, how does it work? Do you just restart the whole process?

Hey!! Thanks for the questions!! 1. Yes! I think it’s a good idea to go to keep track of your progress and for them to see how good the lens fits, how your corneal health is etc. the first few months require more frequent visits but now (1 year later) my visits are 4 months apart! 2. The lenses cost that much the first time around! Then after 3 years, the lenses cost $500 each ☺️ 3. After 3 years, other than getting the replacement lenses, I don’t think anything changes! Your eyesight will be likely even more stable and you can just keep wearing them at night hehe Hope that helps!!

They aren't too comfortable but as you're asleep - so what? If you are hypersenstive to any discomfort - then I'd not do it, otherwise bombs away. Like Brenda says - the difference in happiness is well, indescribable.

This is wonderful. I went from 20/50 to 20/20. No glasses, no Ortho-k.

Don't do it if you have dry eyes... so hard to get that too work. I wish I knew this sooner. And the maintenance is expensive from cleaning solution etc. I was -7 now after 8 months on it. I am roughly around -1.75 still going back and forth to get the correct lens. Laser is much easier for high Myopia.

I actually have dry eyes and several ophthalmologists have declared me as unsafe for laser. Ortho K is the only thing that works for me, and it's also dependent on how well you insert the lenses at night and care for them etc. I'm sorry it didn't work for you but I don't think it's a good idea to be giving out potentially dangerous advice based on your personal experience and nothing else!

How long did it take the ortho k to give you full vision? It’s been 3 weeks for me and I’m not there yet
@wordweed
@wordweed 2 месяца назад
I think for me it was 4-6 weeks! It really depends on your degree you're starting with and how your cornea reacts to it. It's SUPER frustrating now (i remember) but just keep being consistent and you should see results soon!!

My college roommate had/has these and she was really inconsistent about them, I was always pushing her to wear them at night so she could see the next day 😅
