It’s my birthday today and I needed this reminder to help me stay on my diet and go for a walk. All great tips. I need to avoid more carbs than you do, but being precise is key when it comes to food; more than I ever realized. Thank you for the inspiration!

I have started using the weighted vest in the last month, doing RU-vid videos at work on my breaks and walking on treadmill when I get home. I work 10 hour days so I don’t have much time. During the week I have to meal prep because I’m crunched for time!! The only thing I don’t do is weigh my food and I have before and it totally makes a difference

I’ve been trying to be more intentional about my exercise. I do water aerobics with resistance noodles, five days a week. I try to walk 30 minutes in the morning and 30 minutes in the evening but with 113° temperature I’ve had to change my plan Around. I’m 62 and had my knee replaced, but unfortunately the surgery failed but I’m not using that as an excuse. I never thought of weighing my food, but I do do meal prep. I’m looking forward to incorporating more weight training and as I’ve noticed my muscles have been on the decline. You have put the motivation back on my heart to want to see myself shredded again. Thank you for what you do! 🎉🥰💝💐🥂

Yes, I have been meal prepping before all of this Arizona heat this summer. I am planning on going away for a few days with my family for a couple of days and definitely will be bring food for all of us. I always bring lots of veggies, chicken breasts, salads, fruit and lots of drinks. Especially lots of water. I have been walking a lot and going swimming when I can. I hope to swim on our short vacation and walk in the beautiful mountains too! I am sure the hotel has a fitness center for me to continue my weight lifting too!

Does the breakfast of oats and lots of sugars not give you a glucose spike? Spikes make me want to binge. Will be 47 this month and a restaurant outing or binge cause me a 3-6 lb weight gain, then it takes 1 week to get back to my 132 lb base weight. 🤷🏻‍♀️That sucks!
@Coffee_is_ready
@Coffee_is_ready 2 месяца назад
Carbs are not all the same. Oats are complex carbs that won’t spike your blood sugar. Look for steel cut and traditional rolled oats, not quick or instant. Also, oats have lots of fiber!
@MelissaNeill
@MelissaNeill 2 месяца назад
Thanks for sharing, for the oats, always check the contents of the brand you use and make sure it doesn't have added sugars on it. For protein powders, you can also use one that doesn't have added sugar. You can see my recommendations here: www.amazon.com/shop/msmelissaneill

@MelissaNeill
@MelissaNeill 2 месяца назад
It can be challenging to balance workouts with a busy schedule, especially when feeling tired after work. Consistency is key, so aim for at least 3-4 workouts per week. Even short sessions can make a difference, focusing on exercises you enjoy and that fit your energy levels. Listen to your body and adjust your routine as needed. Every effort counts towards your progress!

Not sure if you have already done it but a more completed video about weighing food would be great. Like raw or cooked, the tips....specially with meal prep where you prepare some portions afterwards. I have personally tried meal preps but didn´t work for me. What it works its to have some veg already cooked (stewed) in the freezer so that part save me time with any meat Im cooking on spot. But I didn´t think about freezing carbs (rice, etc) , there is a lot of debate against it as well.

@MelissaNeill

Good question! I recommend starting with a vest that is 5-10% of your body weight. Since you're already active with strength training, Pilates, and ballet, this should be a manageable addition. Gradually increase the weight as you get comfortable.

For women like us, it’s important to figure out how our connection to food, restriction, discipline and punishment/reward plays into our relationship with food and self-image. Sorry, there’s no way out but doing the work. Find a great therapist that deals with eating disorders first then we can figure out the rest. Blessings & Prayers ❤️🙏🏼❤️🙏🏼❤️🙏🏼❤️
