A behind the scenes look at how I used one AD600Pro with a 90cm octabox and a 12x12 scrim to shape the light for these portraits.

My comments are always the same. Simple, yet absolutely beautiful 😎👌🏾. I mean…why complicate a perfect thing, right? Nicely done Nathan.

Thank you Nathan, and the elegant and beautiful Nicole. Great work. Love your scrim work and the resulting soft light. Fine black and white conversion. Didn’t always like B&W but that has changed. I’m already looking forward to your next post. Your timing allows me to see the post with my first coffee here in Mississauga, very considerate and much appreciated.

Thanks Nathan, for sharing your knowledge and vision. Thanks to you I also started to shoot tethered. My work process became more interractive, my customers get a chance to see the result straight away. I like your B&W style, but I can't get, due to stupid situation in the world. Nicole is gorgeous. Cheers from Bashkortostan

Excellent video, Nathan! Wonderful subject in Nicole, too! You have convinced me to pick-up your presets.. I've started using Capture One exclusively for editorial/fashion/commercial work and having these presets will be perfect for me to get client feedback instantly! VERY excited to grab these (and they're on sale!!)!!

@@NathanElson Also worth noting (and I don't know if you've covered this before or not??) if you change the ZIP file extension to .costylepack you can import to Capture One with the file name and structure keeping things nice and tidy within Capture One! Sorry if this is "old news".. LOL...

Just wondering why you used an Octa when if you wanted a wider spread and more even light either a shoot through umbrella or a silver reflective umbrella would have done a better job (wider spread) through the same scrim ?
@Nypics
@Nypics Год назад
I was just about to ask the same thing- it seems much more efficient to use the strobe in a simple modifier since the octa 'look' and directionality are completely negated by the scrim. Movie style of this would be to back off a light (or 2) with a fresnel and hit the scrim with that directly (you will almost never see things like octas used in cinematography - but they use a lot of scrims!)
@NathanElson
@NathanElson Год назад
@@Nypics my thought process behind it was that it would create somewhat of a hotspot that would help focus the light a little more on her face, but still broaden the light enough that I could get some more even coverage.

BUT! Don't use Lightroom for tether, or you'll look like a bellend while it constantly disconnects and goes wrong, I only use C1 for tether. Edit in ACR though.
@NathanElson
@NathanElson Год назад
Trying to tether to Lr during a commercial shoot a few years ago is what made me switch to C1 the very next day.

@@NathanElson Same here, all this "A.I" Tech they keep updating with and they can't even get the basics correct. C1 is the way for now. Nice video and edit btw. :)
