I’m doing exactly this! I’ve also learnt that you’ve weaned off Minoxidil and that’s something I want to do too. I’m hoping you’ve not experienced any set backs and I know that in your case the use of minoxidil isn’t forever (like what others say). So happy that you’ve made this progress! I’ve chopped my hair too and hopefully, it’ll get better soon and I’ll be able to manage things naturally. Good luck ❤️

The problem with minoxidil is that when you stop using it, you go back to the state you were before. So, basically, you have to keep using it. It's a vasodilator, which can also increase heart rate. Some dermatologist won't even ask if you have heart condition. Even if you don't, I would be very cautious with long term use. Anyway, this alone, put me way off of Minoxidil.

@@LisavanWyk_ You're welcome 🙂 I actually never saw or heard about the spray you use. When you look into it, this is what you'll often find: "minoxidil is only effective while you actively use it, meaning you’ll need to keep applying it to your scalp if you want to maintain your results. What happens if you stop minoxidil? If you stop applying minoxidil to your scalp, you’ll gradually lose any hair that you’ve regrown as a result of the medication." That's why I'm still looking for natural ways to treat my hair, because I don't want to depend on a chemical for the rest of my life

What was everything that you took to help your hair get better??? I’m desperate 🥺😔🙏 How much zinc and which head and shoulders did you start using? ❤️ The dr didn’t put you on a dht blocking pill? It sounds more like telogen effluvium and not aga for you. I was diagnosed with aga but I don’t shed alot of hair at all. Just new baby growth and general thinning out all over! So I’m afraid he was correct about the aga :( Thanks Lisa ❤️❤️

Actually, I don't get it. your dermatologist said you had androgenetic alopecia and prescribed you Minoxidil (a very harmful and toxic product) and then some moths after they need to confirm whether you had androgenetic alopecia or not? I truly don't understand why doctors work this way. they should have confirmed that you suffer from this disease BEFORE prescribing minoxidil. Maybe I'm getting it wrong (I'm not a doctor, just wondering. my dermatologist prescribed me minoxidil too, without informing me it's recommended to take it whole life, so I'm a bit angry how doctors work nowadays).
@LisavanWyk_
@LisavanWyk_ Год назад
I fully agree with this!! I also found it so frustrating to be diagnosed without actual proof. It definitely isn’t a great way to handle these things but honestly seems like the norm. I have since been diagnosed but you’re right - I was diagnosed based upon symptoms and not an actually test so it honestly could have gone either way. Sending you love ❤️

I'm so happy for you! Your hair looks so healthy, shiny, and full. It looks beautiful down and I'm so thrilled for you that it's growing and that the shedding has stopped. It's so wonderful of you to share your story with others. I was wondering if you have had your Vitamin D levels checked? (I'm sorry if you may have addressed that in another video/comments/replies). Vitamin D deficiency can cause fairly severe hair loss (like Telogen Effluvium) as well as affect the texture, fullness, etc. of your hair. Vitamin D also stimulates hair follicles and causes them to grow. In order to know if you're deficient, your doctor/dermatologist would need to draw your blood and have that tested to see what your serum levels are. Another thing is scalp massage to activate the blood vessels on the scalp (if your dermatologist thinks that would be ok). Rosemary oil is a recommended oil to massage on the scalp if you are looking for something natural. There have been studies that show that using rosemary oil mixed with a carrier oil (it has to be mixed with a carrier oil such as almond oil) resulted in as much hair growth as Minodoxil. Pumpkin seed oil inhibits testosterone on the scalp (called DHT) which causes hair loss for women, so perhaps using shampoos that contain pumpkin seed oil (such as by Innersense) might be helpful. Or to take pumpkin seed oil supplements. Shampoos, conditioners, hair masks from companies like Innersence or Ecoslay don't have plastics or sulfates in them (they contain ingredients such as flax seed oil, aloe vera, honey, pumpkin seed oil, etc.,which are more natural) so if you have an access to those brands online that might help too! Sleeping on a silk pillowcase also helps to prevent friction. And drying with a microfiber towel also prevents friction (I have naturally curly hair so over the years I spent a lot of time researching the best ways to prevent friction on hair when sleeping :) Thank you so much for being so brave and vulnerable and so very kind to share what you've gone through.
