A year ago I had a truly disastrous hair cut - and these are the hair heroes that helped me to grow it back better than before. This video is partially sponsored by Viviscal - i want to be upfront about that part of this is an AD. However I only work with brands that I trust and know that work. The clinicals on Viviscal are impressive and my results speak for themselves.
My healthy, shiny, get your hair to grow as fast as possible products are
* Viviscal - bit.ly/2yBdRVy
* Dyson Supersonic -tidd.ly/a214c5e9

* YS Park Brush - bit.ly/2JeMowX
I should also give a huge shout out to Gio at Salon Sloane who put extension tapes in for nine months whilst my hair grew back - he is the best - www.salonsloane.com/

Hello Nadine, I've been a hairdresser for 39 years and have had, what I now realise were hormonal imbalances and iron problems for most of my adult life, which went undiagnosed and has affected my hair. Through my own research and trial and error, I have conquered my own hair loss problems, if you would allow me I'd like to share these with you and your viewers. In a nutshell, I am now 56 menopausal but suffer endometriosis, with that, when young, comes heavy iron loss through menstruation and this affects nutrition and hair growth, I had too much oestrogen, oestrogen in menopause as in HRT would normally aid hair growth but too much can cause health problems, some serious, so I would never use it for that purpose. Young women with hair loss need to have blood tests taken for Iron load, serum ferritin, B12 and other components of blood, as an iron deficiency is indicative of the cause in this case. During menopause this can cause extreme blood loss with irregular and heavy periods, again your hair can fall out when iron levels are too low, even if your doctor isn't concerned about anaemia or your health, your hair is first to suffer. Look up the values for optimum hair growth. Also in menopause lack of oestrogen causes a testosterone over-ride, this excess converts to DHT which settles in the hair follicle and causes hair loss. After blood tests, if this resonates with anyone, this is what I did with amazing success.....take an iron supplement with a glass of orange juice (for absorption) avoiding tea, coffee, wheat or milk within 2 hours either side. Also a vitamin B Complex supplement as stress can deplete this water soluble vitamin, which affects hair greatly. Cut right down on sugar, alcohol, totally give up smoking, cut bad fats, but up the good fats. Eat good protein and green leafy vegetables, add oily fish to your diet for Omega 3. That's the internal bit. Exfoliate scalp (important) with L'Oréal Phytoclear scalp scrub before shampooing with Groganics deep freeze DHT blocker shampoo, use Revuele Baicapil Volume Hair Mask for hair growth. After towel drying with microfibre towel (less friction), use a tangle teaser type brush, spray scalp with Groganics 'itch spray' deep freeze DHT blocker, then comb through TIGI freak of nature volumizer & thickener with Lavender, Citrus & Eucalyptus. All these products are relatively inexpensive when it comes to hair restoration and REALLY WORK. My hair has grown back rapidly. Allow 3-6 months for best effect and be patient as the resting, growing, shedding phase needs to catch up. My hair is the best it's ever been. In my experience most hair loss problems can be solved when you get to the root of the problem. Hope this helps x

Venus77x I've been using ayurvedic hair oil and it's really helped new growth and my bald patches Hairburst supplements were also helping but gave me facial hair! I'm scared to use ayurvedic hair powders because it might affect my colour but the oils have been working wonders I'm 41 and started struggling with hair loss around aged 35

Thank you for doing this video! The best thing I ever did for my super fine thinning hair is ban heat completely! I use an Aquis towel keeping it on till it’s 80% dry then use the cool setting. Not easy at first and no heat hair styles can be time consuming but it’s SO worth it and you are right it all takes time. I recommend using thick large bendy rollers to give hair a bit of body/waves and make it look thicker :) I just dampen the mid lengths and ends then apply a little olaplex as if it’s a serum, put in the rollers then just get on with things around the house then 1 hour+ later my hair looks like it’s been styled with a tong and the best part is it lasts for days :) For me it’s a must as unlike the lovely Nadine I do not suit my hair straight and without high heat it’s just a bushy mess if I leave it as is! I do hope you will continue to post hair progress videos as it’s only going to get better and better with the wonderful care you are taking 💕

Hi Nadine, thank you so much. A very interesting and informative video. As a woman of a certain age I've been thinking for a while about hair supplements, especially as my hair is also fine and damaged, although it does have a natural curl. P.s. I can't wait for the Airwrap review as I'm hoping it would be a good investment as a recovery aid but want to see a review from someone I trust with 'real' hair. So far, there are very few reviews out there from women with fine hair so you go girl. ❤️💋

Dear Annie, thank you so much for your reply. I also use the Ordinary products like Granactive, Lactic Acid, glycolic acid and more before my regime daily. I also have driopy eyelids and to tell the truth that is my main concern although I doubt I can fix it. Did you put tretinoin above your brows maybe? Truth is different people react differently to products but it is good to know that it worked especially with pores which are so hard to make smaller. I will keep on trying things and I know it takes time. I am so happy fir you it is si important to feel good about your skin. Again thank you for your reply xx. :)

Taking Biotin and Vitamin E in individual tablets works just as well. I take both in their maximum strengths. I would be very careful about Niacin and Niacinimide. They both dialite the blood vessels. I used to take them. I developed a huge blood clot in 2010 after some minor surgery. I made the decision to stop taking Niacin due to its effect on blood vessels. I have vascular insufficiently and I felt that the Niacin helped me.

Last time I looked at Viviscal in the USA it had shark cartilage in it, which is super cruel and f’s with the eco-system. Is that the marine protein you are referring to? Not sure if there are different formulas for different countries. Sharks are apex predators and it is bad, bad, bad to harvest them. Also, they usually cut fins and throw them back to die cruelly. You like to do research, so please do some here. In this day and age we should all have some environmental responsibility.

Two points here. Dr. Dray is an American dermatologist on RU-vid who has addressed supplements for hair. She says that it’s not easy to be deficient in biotin as it’s found in lots of foods, eggs being a great source. Her opinion overall is that supplements don’t help. Wondering if you researched LED lights?

Great video. ...live your posts....can I ask a favor? I have always followed your retinA vids avidly. ...I have been using tretinoin for the past 18 months. I started using it really diluted in moisturiser and slowly built up to the 0.5% one neat...Every other day. There's loads of info out there for how important it is,how good it is and to get started, etc...but nothing much about long term use and how to maintain. Do we need to use it forever? ...Every day or less often?....can you elaborate on this in a video? A video especially for those who have been using tretinoin for a couple of years....or at least what to do once the user has got used to it and can use it once every couple of days without any flaking.etc. does it seen work if you use it once every couple of days?
@caterinaiona6397
@caterinaiona6397 5 лет назад
Hi Annie. I haven't used tretinoin myself but other retinol serums and pure vitamin A ampules and was wondering if these things really work. I mean I watch a lot of RU-vidrs swearing by retinol, retin A, tretinoin etc but after a year let's say of them using them I don't see any difference whatsoever. I believe that nothing can change time effects but maybe slow down damage? I don't know. Please tell me what you personally think about tretinoin and I might then give it a try. I am 52 btw and have good skin, probably good genes. They all say I look ten years younger and I might say there is no damage on the skin as I don't sunbathe a lot etc. Would like to know your opinion. Thank you in advance.
@a.m248
@a.m248 5 лет назад
@@caterinaiona6397 Hi. I'm 47 and started using over the counter retinols and retinoids to get my skin used to them for about a year or so before actually starting on tretinoin. Over the counter meaning the ordinary company ones. I started on 0.05 straight off. ...I just diluted tiny amounts with a moisturiser 2 or three times a week. I'm south Asian and have wheatish colour skin with loads of darker marks from old spots that I had squeezed in the past. ...also pigment issues around my mouth and ever largining pores. A year and a half down. ......I can honestly say this is the first time I am truly happy with my skin. People tell me they think I'm in my early thirties...The always gasp when I tell them I'm 47. My pores have almost gone. My stubborn marks are visibly lightened and most have vanished. The pigment around my mouth is almost gone. Although I had very few wrinkles to start with....I did start to get droopy eyelids. ..These have perked up and the few wrinkles I had between my eyebrows have significantly lessened. However,I have to add that the tretinoin was just one of the changes I made. I also make my own 8% and 10% lactic acid resurfacing pads. ....or acid toner, if you please. Which I swipe over my face once a day. I also use several different types of serums that I rotate everyday so my skin gets benefits from all. ..and I drink a litre of sugar free squash everyday that has about 25mg of l-ascorbic acid mixed into it. Hope this helps you

Could you PLEASE show us how long the curls hold on fine mature hair? I’ve seen tons of reviews but they are all young ladies with full voluminous hair. Will the curling wand provide enough heat to hold a curl on fine med length, hard to curl hair?
@andreahidalgolujan7029
@andreahidalgolujan7029 5 лет назад
If your hair is naturally hard to curl, it won't really matter what you use as far as styling tool unless you combine it with a mousse or a setting spray of some sort that works for your hair. Not your type of hair, but for your hair specifically. Its a trial an error system. Oh, and as a rule of thumb, the larger the barrel of a curling iron (aka the bigger the curl) the faster curls tend to drop
@deannelanoue6105
@deannelanoue6105 5 лет назад
Thanks Andrea. My hair curls unbelievably well with overnight heatless rollers, stays in a full day or more (but who can sleep on even foam rollers??). Despite this sorcery, the higher the heat of a curling iron (and the smaller the barrel of course), the longer my curls last. Can't say mousse or setting sprays help at all. In fact, they tend to make my fine hair (that tangles if someone looks at it too hard) into candy floss that I can't brush out (breakage), must shampoo. I wish I could use hairspray or style set and I have tried them all I think. So I was wondering if air drying in a curl shape just might work if I do the usual hairpin hold on each curl for an hour after the styling. Just thinking maybe the ability to hold the curl in that shape for a longer period of time because of heat that it lower might do the trick? Everyone's hair is so different. I have never tried curling my hair with a brush and blow dryer because I don't have 4 hands and the blow dryer must be controllable at all times otherwise it tangles.

I used Viviscal for a few months..I don't find it very strong...I use a different on recommended by the Doctor at Victoria health and a 1000mg biotin...I went to Phillip Kingley for years..his salon in NYC...big amounts of Vit C are vital...and no hot hair dryers..no dye!!I have twice the amount of hair I used to have..in my 60's!!! Plant based diet..all organic....

Viviscal broke me out like crazy. My skind does not tolerate biotin and B vitamins. :-(

Viviscal gave me a stomach ache sometimes and did absolutely nothing for me. Total waste of money!☹

I'm an Australian doctor who specialises on hormones, hair loss, menopause, etc. I realise that I'm late to the party with this post but anyone using Biotin should be aware that it can cause blood tests to be incorrect. There have been cases where people have died because they have been tested for a possible heart attack and the test has been negative when in fact they have had a heart attack. The reason is that biotin is used in laboratories as a reagent . If you're taking biotin you most stop it 48 hours before any blood tests and if you need emergency tests you should tell medical staff that you are using it. The laboratory can then do different tests.

Can biotin cause adult acne? I tried it for my really fine (and getting thinner as I get older ☹️) hair & I found I was getting big cystic acne spots. It was the only thing I could link it to, stoped taking it & acne went away. Would love to find something to help my hair grow longer & thicker.

Work with the dosage, if I keep it to 10,000 mg a day I don't break out but Biotin really helps with hair growth, almost all of my hair fell out due to stress and Biotin from Walmart or Walgreens really made a huge difference, try with 2500mg first.

Yes, too much biotin makes me break out. I had to figure out how much I could tolerate.

Also, do you consider yourself high maintenance? Just curious. You're a gorgeous looking woman, but boy it must cost to look as good as you do... I'm a big fan though ❤️ so no malice intended 💕

It has just been pointed out to me that viviscal contains shark cartilage why as an influential beauty guru would you even consider recommending this to anyone never mind taking it yourself. It just proves to me that some people are more concerned about there appearance than the world we live in

I think you can overdo it easily. Messed my hair up and I got loads of breakage.

Nadine, you aren't doing your hair any favors by constantly touching it. Perhaps it's a nervous tic, but you run your fingers through your fringe A LOT. It's contributing to the breakage. Try to break yourself of that habit. Your hair will thank you.

Hi Nadine, you far over touch your bands over and over and over again. Not a pretty view. Please don't get upset just imagine to look at someone who has this tick over repeated. Very informative videos thank you. Sonia
