Healthy Chick, lol this is a video on how I grew my natural hair to the length everyone saw and still ask me about. This was not “how to grow hair with a GinaCurl”. I can understand being disappointed I’m not currently natural, but the information is for the many still inquiring about my natural hair. I think it was helpful to share this way, rather than trying to help girls/guys by writing essays in their dms.

As someone who has 4c hair, I am NOT offended by the fact that she has a Gina curl and is giving tips, for the simple fact that she grew her 4C hair to waist length COMPLETELY natural, THEN had the Gina curl. Comprehensive skills are fundamental kids. At the end of the day, yes she has a Gina curl but 4c hair is what grows out of her head regardless 💕

@AllThatGlitter224
@AllThatGlitter224 4 года назад
@@fay7692 Honestly just finding products that work for you and I've learned more than anything, leaving your hair alone. I had a tapered cut, like my sides were shaved down, and in the span of a year its shoulder length (stretch out) because I lived my life in wigs and braids. Also when you're doing protective styles, remember to still take care of your hair or else the protective part to that phrase is useless. so if your wearing wigs make sure your hair is detangled, moisturized and tucked away neatly.. Also you dont need a load of products, a little really does go a long way. I have my shampoo and conditioner, a deep conditioner and then when I'm out the shower I just use a cream, an oil and a tiny bit of gel.
@fay7692
@fay7692 4 года назад
@@AllThatGlitter224 wow, thank you. My big problem is I'm low low porosity so I think I use a lot of cream when I do my twists outs every wash day and that stunts the growth. I also used to wash my hair once a week but now I wash it every 2-3 weeks because im lazy cuz of quarentine I also have not done a protective style since the start of my natural hair journey. My hair has been through years and years of heat and relaxer damage until just a year ago. I didn't do a big chop but it was significant I would say my definitely hair grew thicker and a little bit longer, I really don't know the exact length but I started October 2019 and my hair is not where I thought it would be. I definitely need to do protective styles because my hair grows a lot in braids, I just need to learn how to manage it while it's in braids. I think protective styles and washing more frequently will help my hair grow more

I have 4c hair and I came across a video a girl made on how once she started deep conditioning with heat her hair started retaining so much moisture. I bought the same steaming cap that she had - it’s the kind you attach to your blow dryer. It seriously changed the moisture balance in my hair for the better. My hair has been thriving and retaining length ever since I bought that cap. Before it was like the moisture just wouldn’t stay in my hair no matter what I did and now I can apply nothing but a leave in and no oil and my hair stays soft and moisturized. I would highly recommend a steamer or a heated deep conditioning cap for any 4c girls who are low porosity.

Here’s a list :) 1. Don’t silk press/flat iron consistently (do as a 6month to a year (maybe even longer) basis). 2. Apply more products to your ends than to your roots (they need more love than your roots). 3. Trim your ends *every 3 months or so* because 4c is prone to split ends. Don’t use products for split ends.. just. get. a. trim. periodt! 4. Coat your hair with oil. It’s a prectant and shield to the outside world! Olive oil, castor oil, and Argan Oil are good! 5. Less manipulation is best. Don’t always be in your hair. Be gentle with your hair! 6. Try your products on your hands to see if they’re actually doing what they’re supposed to do on your hair. If after some time with a product on your hand ends up drying out, it’s probably doing that on your hair as well. 7. Use treatments that’ll target your ends if can. Don’t do treatments all the time, just when it’s needed. 8. Keep your hair off your shoulders. Do more updos!

Yes please trim your ends, not a lot of course. Get the shears. There are methods like search and destroy. I trim after I put my hair in a braid or twists. You can see the split ends better. I use castor oil(Jamaican mango lime brand), Shea moisture Jamaican castor oil strengthen and anti breakage restore spray. Spray first then castor oil. Make sure ends have oil, pay attention. Keep it twisted, braided, but still moisturize few times a week or as needed. It will grow.

During lockdown I’ve been so relaxed with my everyday styling and I noticed that most the damage I was having is due to styling. I (protective styles) braid my hair a lot but the matting and detangling was a whole process. Now I can finger detangle easy with fresh water and a little hair milk,oil the endz and done. Tension and over styling causing a lot of breakage.

Why'd you lie, you said ends more than 17x 😂 and I'm here for it. Protip for anyone who needs it: Twists are one of the best hairstyles once you hit shoulder length because it's versatile. You can wear it in a bun, a ponytail, double/triple up the twists, braid the twists, bantu knot them, etc. and because the hair is already protected it doesn't harm you in terms of manipulation as long as you're watching out for your ends. Plus twists stay the most moisturized in my experience, you can wash your hair while it stays twisted, and once you take down the twists that's another 3-7 day style. It's how I never hit a plateau. My hair stays from bra band to hip length (sometimes this thick hair is heavy and summers are too hot) because I twist it up!
@nibabi
@nibabi 3 года назад
I’m going to have to start twisting my hair. I’ve been kind of stuck at waist length. I do wash and go most of the time. So my curly hair stays around shoulder length which is waist length straight. I’ve also been trimming more often and I can feel the difference. I’m also using sulfur 8, oil and massage to up my game.

The quarantine has been GREAT for my kinky hair. I've learned to leave it alone and keep it moisturized. It's almost longer than it's EVER been. @@graciousgrace7509 I've been wearing medium-sized twists (about 30+ in total) and I moisturize every other day with water and seal with shea butter or oil. Nope. No breakage. I don't even wear a bonnet anymore. I think that leaving ends out is a myth. As long as you keep them trimmed/even and moisturized they won't break. My hair that hangs at the nape always grows best and it always touches/rubs my shirt in twists. It grows like a weed. It's my crown that was having issues so I was always at a length plateau. So I make sure to lightly mist with water 3-4 times per week and seal with any butter or oil. Yes the twists get a tad fuzzy, but they are strong, moisturized and I'm finally retaining length. I just throw them up in a loose, fun ponytail. I had to learn to baby my crown section so it will grow as long as the rest of my hair. My crown was holding me back and my hair would always be in layers. I had to keep chopping the long parts at the neck because the crown wouldn't catch up with the rest. Less is more! I use far fewer products and spend less time on my hair. Now that my twists are so long people think I have locs. I'm like no these are just twists. Ladies, all you need are water and butter/grease to seal. Stop buying all these expensive products. You don't need them. Your hair just wants water and a seal. Don't be afraid of the frizz and shrinkage. Find a style to wear that minimizes it. I don't drench my hair. I just spray my hand and squeeze the water into the twists. Then I add my butter, style and go.

Listen sis I’m with you!! I’m all about trimming off dead hair you had a new subbie from that point. A lot of naturals on RU-vid don’t talk about how important it is to get ur hair trimmed. Also not putting oils on your scalp👏🏾 a lot of people don’t understand that’s not gonna make ur hair grow faster. I use aloe Vera juice to combat itching and dandruff. Style ur Hair and neglect it👍🏾. Black hair thrives when u leave it alone!!! I leave my hair in twist and braids for MONTHS at a time and my hair in thriving. These are great tips❤️

It’s alittle uneven but I could care less because at least I know I have HEALTHY ends now. You are so right when you say the issue is the ends of the hair. I agree that 4C is definitely prone to split ends or "bad" ends, at least my hair is. I realize I do have to regularly trim my hair so it can be healthy and manageable and not break off as much. Also I love straight hair from time to time but I realize it is not worth it. It really changed my curl pattern and I Don't like that.

I have middle back length natural hair. My hair journey became increasingly difficult as my short faze fazed out into the long length faze and honestly it's going to get harder from this point onward because of the length. It'd tangle easier because my hair was getting a little longer than normal and I was getting a little breakage, so I just kept twisting my hair and leaving it alone for like maybe 2-3 months before taking it out, washing and deep conditioning/moisturizing before re-twisting again and leaving it alone for 2-3 months, If I got box braids (which I feel grows my hair a lot faster) I can leave them in for 4-5 months. That's how I can retain my length and health of my hair. Also I trim my hair every 4 months, I cut off about an inch, not 'half and inch' but an inch when I do fresh twists.

I don't have 4c hair (I have like 3b to 4a mix), but keeping hair off your shoulders is SO important. I was annoyed my hair would always sit on my shoulders no matter how hard I tried to grow it. I went to a stylist who noticed the right half was an inch shorter than the left. He asked what side I wear my bag on, turns out that when bag straps get caught on your hair they actually cause so much breakage. I think the same would apply to bra straps, earrings and necklaces.

That and hairstylists can shape cut your hair which really effects the way your styles come out!! It's been 6 months since my first cut and my end are still thick and my hair is THRIVING.
