This week on Branching out permaculture with Curtis Hanlon. So we are planting the stratified edible chestnuts. Showing the results and how I pot them up and where I’m storing them so the squirrels won’t get them. Ep168.

If you have willows close by, take some branches, score the bark, soak the branches. Willows have a natural rooting hormone in them. To keep mold down, you can use cinnamon. Sprinkle it sparingly.

Dilute the hormone to at least 50/50.

Good morning Chris... Beautiful day here in Maine... Buying seed as a mix of varieties may save a bit on cost, but it makes it more difficult to sell once sprouted, because they'd have to be transferred as an SPP, without variety name... May or may not be an issue. I know I've mentioned him to you before, but Stefan Sobkowiak put up a RU-vid video about four months ago titled (Permaculture Orchard Masterclass - THE MOVIE). It's two hours long, but the introduction is a section on "PROGRAMMING SEEDS" which you may find interesting. Since not all of your seed have broken dormancy, you have an opportunity to experiment if you care to 😉. Stefan is in Quebec and does welcome visitors... may require reservation (??). Thank you for sharing your journey with others. Much love 💕

You always have good information to check melody. I love it. I watch that guy a lot. I’ve seen most of his RU-vid work. Have not watched the movie yet but I will. Paw paw seeds are doing good. I’ll be planting them soon stay tuned. Black walnut will be the last of my stratification this year so again stay tuned. I’ll have over 100 plants and trees to put in the food forest this season and next. Cheers
