I have true admiration for how you interact with kids here and at the pump track and elsewhere, getting them all pumped up and motivated and overcoming their fears. I feel you have a real talent there that you may be overlooking a bit? Anyway great vid as always:)!!
This more than anything defines the essence of biking. You were the biggest kid on the pump track. Pure joy! This is the way I feel every time I get on a bike!
About 10 min pedal from my place, there is a community bike park. It's definitely geared towards kids and building skills. I find myself there all the time, riding, for whenever I don't feel like going out for a huge effort on the bike. Nothing better than skills session of fun easy features.
Absolutely agree! another great place to learn is you have one available near you (and they are ok with you riding in it) is a construction site in which they are still doing grading work (moving the dirt)
Those kids and the homemade pump track was great. There was always some sort of half arsed BMX track in the woods somewhere when I was a kid. That segment made my day.
Eric, have you tried the skatepark in Speyfield? It is very circular and swoopy in design. Also, the high-speed gravel trails of Long Lake Provincial Park are nearby.
Thanks for doing this on the Norton, I always think about playing around on skate parks but feel my hardtail is too big, 27.5 but in XL. Practicing on those kinds of features might be doable so next time I pass one that’s not too full with scooters and skaters I might give it a go although one on my training route is just a bowl I have no idea how to drop into! 🤣
