Hi Andrea- Thank you for this excellent video explanation! I have a couple questions: I have seen many RU-vid Videos saying that C1P22 Catalogs crashes a lot and slows down your computer compared to C1P22 Sessions... what do you think? Thank you!

I'm a little behind on my comments reply, but I know you received my email :) Ciao

I just started a new session and it works there too! David Groover never mentioned Keyword Library, and I never gave it a chance, as I didn't knew it's structure. Very useful and thanks a lot!

Of course, you can use the Keyboard Library on Sessions too. Actually, David touched the topic on different videos in the past, giving a great overview of some keyword functionalities. Anyway, I’m really glad you’re finding this method useful :)

Excellent, very informative video as always, (and also incredible images!). I'm curious if you only use keywords in Catalogs or do you also use them in Sessions? Thanks

Hi Dan, thanks so much for the comment and glad you enjoyed the video. I use keyword just on the main central catalog. I use session just as a “transitional” step before importing the images into the main catalog. Ciao :)

Good method !!!. The problem is that I am too lazy and nearly always forget to apply the keywords to the photos I import 🙈. One question, where do you locate "animals", for instance?. Wouldn't it be good to add a fourth category called 4. NATURE? Thanks Andrea
@bioliv1
@bioliv1 2 года назад
Nature is Places, Wildlife would be better for animals.

Hi Jose, thanks for the comment and glad you enjoyed the video. If you have many categories to work with, you can reframe the method just using the 3 generic categories like: “Who”, “What”, and “Where”, rather than People, Events, Places. So, in that case I would put “animals” in the root “What” category. Nature or Wildlife as well. The PEP system is a framework you can adjust to your liking, but the core idea is to stay consistent and organized. I hope that helps :) Ciao

Thanks for the video. So, if I want to find all photos ie landscapes or Waterfalls...Would it be Places>Iceland>XXX>Landscape>Waterfalls?
@AndreaLivieriPhoto
@AndreaLivieriPhoto 2 года назад
Thanks so much, Oscar. If you like you can reframe the three categories in: 1. WHO - 2. WHAT - 3. WHERE. So in “Where” you’ll have the places, locations, areas. In “What” you’ll have landscape, waterfall, and whatever sub-category you can define with “What”. I hope that helps :) Ciao

@@AndreaLivieriPhoto Thank you for the quick response. I'm in the process of reorganizing my photo collection by importing finished sessions into yearly catalogs.

Keywords stay in catalogs and don't get exported to EXIF, right? Also, is it possible to set a keyword library to use by default for sessions before importing?
@AndreaLivieriPhoto
@AndreaLivieriPhoto 2 года назад
Hi, thanks for stopping by. Capture One for RAW stored the Keyword data in XMP sidecar files, whereas is embedded in JPEG and TIFF files when assigned. About the keywords on import, you can create a metadata preset that includes keywords and have them applied whenever you do an import. You can create multiples of them if you have different common sets you apply for different subjects you import. I hope it helps. Ciao

Is there a way to use the keyword inside the catalog but prevent it from exporting as keyword metadata? Top-level of keyword structure is mostly there for organizational purposes. Writing "01. Places" to metadata on export doesn't make too much sense. Do you have any solution for this? Great video though.

Thanks for your video. (thanks for the youtube translation ;) ) Does your training benefit from a French translation? I do not speak English :( Thanks !

Hi Ugo, glad you enjoyed the video. My content are all in English, and that’s because I hope they’ll be helpful to a broader range of people. RU-vid auto translator does already a decent job on helping some people who might not be quite confident with the English language. Ciao :)

Hi Ugo, oh now I got it. If you meant the full class I mentioned in the video, that’s on Skillshare, not on the YT platform. There’s not an automatic translation to French. I’m sorry.

Did you see Mads Peter Iversen's "An Epic Photography Journey Through the Dolomites! - Part 2"? Awesome! He's a Dane, so I don't know why he doesn't use Capture One?
@AndreaLivieriPhoto
@AndreaLivieriPhoto 2 года назад
Hi Øyvind, I haven't seen the video yet. Mads is a really great photographer, so I'm pretty sure he did a great job photographing the Dolomites. As for Capture One, every photographer has a very personal image workflow. There's no absolute right or wrong way to work :) Ciao

@@AndreaLivieriPhoto Yes, but Mads even moved to the same island as where Copenhagen is situated now, and I'm sure the staff at Capture One would love if he joined them. And the job Mads started documenting Denmark during the pandemic, is phenomenal! I remember I read an interview with Mads a long time ago, where he told he didn't photograph in Denmark, as it was so dull there. So he completely changed his perspective🙂
