At the beginning on January I decided on a whim to take CAE exam in mid February. For 7 weeks I focused solely on preparation. I passed with grade B, C1, 199 points 💪 I took a long break from studying. All together around 5 weeks. Now, I’m going strong on my Brazilian Portuguese:) I feel like I’m ready to simply maintain my level on English with a clean conscious, and focus on Portuguese. I live in New Zealand currently with my Brazilian husband, and I’m Polish ;)
@@tbenavente Yes, we do :) We use mostly English between us, but our goal is Polish-Portuguese household:) We’ll stay in NZ for another year, and then we move to another country. After reaching strong B1 level in Portuguese, I plan to start Russian.
I really want to study Japanese and Chinese, but since I'm already studying Spanish (and maintaining my English - I'm Brazilian), I chose to just study Spanish this year. I've improved a lot; consuming content in Spanish is not hard for me, so I spent around 60 hours watching RU-vid videos and listening to podcasts. My goal now is to start reading and writing more - I already speak while watching videos or randomly during the day.
How do you manage to measure the time for all your activities? I've tried it myself, but I always give up because it takes too much time and becomes too burdensome
I had the same problem as you, but then I’ve learned how to set up my phone and tablet to track things automatically. I talk about it in this video: How I track my study time as a language learner ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-M3yJF-OQdTI.html
I watched you for around 2 years (from your Russian channel) and your video motivates me so much to learn English even if I'm not good at languages. You're channel help me learn English and find something new.
Haha, I might have influenced more than a couple of people to get an iPad for language learning or studying in general 😅 No one has complained yet, and the best thing is that even the cheapest model will work great!
That sounds like a good idea! What level of Russian do you have? (I’m still very much a beginner in Greek). Cyprus is 10 hours ahead of Arizona, so 13:00 is not doable for me, but you can email me at tbbenavente@gmail.com and we can choose another time?
❤❤❤🎉🎉 ( btw the word sceptical is Greek . Sceptical = σκεπτικός !)
I listen to pop music 99% of the time and I have two playlist for Italian 1. 70-80s music (which is what made me fall in love with Italian in the first place): open.spotify.com/playlist/1VyVL0dGgJfr8kpFPEQZ2O?si=d5cf99937f234e06 2. contemporary pop music (plus I also rely on Sanremo to help me discover artists): open.spotify.com/playlist/7KRqlldYHOzkywhnu2rmMn?si=066f33ac855c4b65
Go for it! I don't do it with other types of texts because I never go back to revise my notes after, but songs are an exception because if I like a song I will listen to it for years
Yes, but I prefer not to focus on more than 3 languages at a time. Once I get a little more comfortable with Italian, I will put it on hold and go back to Polish, probably some time later this year.
I LOVE Language Transfer and I’m so glad you tried it! I had the same experience with the French course and it actually motivated me to learn French again! I’ve been way more consistent in learning French! I wasn’t even really learning it before 😅 I was also skeptical of it at first, but I’m so glad I gave it a try! Haha
I started studying Greek this year by accident because of Language Transfer. I just tried the method and I liked it that much that now I'm learning Greek! Good video Tanya! By the way, how do you track your learning process? Do you use an app? Do you do it manually? Thanks!
I use an app called TogglTrack + iOS automations so that whenever I open a language learning app time gets tracked automatically. I made a video all about it here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-M3yJF-OQdTI.html

Hi Tanya, love your videos! You've given me a lot of ideas for my own language studies 😄 I just wanted to ask about the novel you've started in Italian, you said you're reading it with LingQ and wondered how you imported it? Thanks in advance!
Hi! When you open LingQ on your computer, there's a plus icon in the top right corner. Click it and choose "import ebook" and then choose an ebook that is one of the supported formats. LingQ will break it down into smaller chunks ("lessons") and create a "course" based on the book.
So I use TogglTrack to track my studies and they present your data as graphs/pie charts, so you don't even have to do anything extra besides tracking your study time. But, for more customization, I exported my data from Toggl as a .csv file, put it in Google Spreadsheets and just tweaked some settings like colors/fonts a little bit to create the pie charts you see in the video
