Spot on. seems to be the tale of this whole period. If you'd like any tips/advice especially for uni consider checking out this link: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-3ha95RPV3Is.html
For me in online learning, teachers don’t even teach and they just send me a bunch of hws which I am very frustrated in because I have to teach it to myself. Hope yours is going better though :)
The lack of communication and the lack of mental health support from supposedly one of the top unis in the world is honestly disgusting! Schools and unis have been shut for like a month now and most got themselves fully sorted in the first week. I feel so sorry for you Eve, stay strong, keep pushing and criticising them and hopefully positive change will come 💕
I agree with you Emily. It's just been poorly handled. This could have all been avoided should they have put in more secure measures when they heard about the whole thing in Jan but anyway if you'd like positive straight to the point advice consider checking out my channel
Am I only one who feels that sometimes teachers give useless hw which literally do nothing but just waste your time when you could be doing something else to actually learn the information ?
Be kind to your teachers, they're struggling too! :) (of course your frustrations are totally valid, it's just good to try understand others' perspectives as well)
Glad to hear that Katie. I hope you're keeping safe and sound during this time. Also if you're looking to get advice/tips about uni. Consider checking out my channel: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-3ha95RPV3Is.html
In my opinion, this whole situation has shown that oxford isn’t a ‘good’ or ‘great’ university - it’s the intelligence of the students that makes oxford good. Compared to other Russell group universities, oxford have handled this whole situation SO poorly. They are so so inflexible and their refusal to move with the times has been highlighted even more so. Oxford is hard for the sake of being hard
It means its an elitist university, bit a bad one. In Argentina private universities and less tradicional public ones have been quicker organising themselves, whereas UBA, which is the biggest and carries most of the scientifical research un the country, has taken more time
Oxford functions mainly with tutorials, head-to-head learning, where you ask questions and a dialogue is needed. With the way things have to be done now, that is not possible. It's trying to roll with it but completely changing its way of teaching is obviously difficult.
they ask you how you are and you just have to say that you’re fine when you’re not really fine but you just can’t get into it because they would never understand...
Snowflake - It is a tough time especially as we're not used to this but you have to have the bigger picture in perspective and realise that we are doing this for the greater good of humanity and if you are struggling then do start seeking support from people around you. I'm a tutor and im doing regular Q&A sessions on instagram live etc. Do consider checking out my vids in order to get a different perspective on things
All my classes have been moved online and I know that I’m lucky that I can just continue my education like nothing has happened, but things did happen. We’re in the middle of a pandemic, mental health is not liking staying in so so much, I had covid-19 (all is good now)c working from home is really hard, and I’ve just never been this stressed before
Chloe - thanks for sharing. Mental health is off major importance and I do believe that the lockdown will ease soon and as hard as things may seem try and see the bigger picture nobody planned for this and we are all doing this for the greater good - sometimes its easy to lose sight of that. Also you need to find things that motivate you and interest you. Check out some of my vids on my channel that give you a different perspective on things
I’m at Oxford Brookes and they’re really messing us about. We just keep getting emails inviting us to google hangouts by our lecturers with no context. It’s an absolute shit show.
My uni have added extra work onto our deadline submission (I do a media degree) because they think that because were at home we have more time to do work. It's just a joke. :(
I have to admit, I'm dreading this final term. But I'm with you, I hope that they'll loosen the restrictions towards the end of Trinity! Would be so nice to at least see some of my friends again before I graduate.
Yes! Online uni study with me's. In Australia, everything school related as moved online... I guess I'm kind of lucky in the fact that my degree is 100% online even before the virus so, I'm already used to self motivation and the work load.
I’m in year 11 and it’s a mess. Teachers are sort or setting work but no one is motivated and the whole lessons just consist of group chats pinging away. I just want to do my a level subjects now and make sure I’m really prepared for them in September.
My uni has been online for the past month and it is different, motivation does shift I have definitely struggled with attending online seminars as my lectures are already uploaded but we still have assessments which is annoying af as can't get any books from uni library and online books are rare so I feel your pain. I'm in second year too so my grades go towards my final grade which is very stressful. Online learning is very different compared to face to face and sometimes not as good as its not as interactive, but once you and the lecturers get in the swing of it, it should improve. Good luck with your term!
SUPER down for the online uni study with me's!! here in Australia I've got uni finals for this trimester coming up in like a week and a half and it is...quite the time quite the vibe aaaaaa
To have a bit more space in your room could you move the bed into the corner with your keyboard? It would block off some of the sliding wardrobe, but you could move all the summer bits to the other end. Also is there anywhere you could put one of the bedside tables (in the wardrobe?) to give you a bit more room?
Our lecturers have just recorded audio to go along with the lecture slides . That’s all we’ve been given and our exams have been put online . There’s no interaction . I don’t feel like “online uni” is really uni
Your videos are very motivating to watch! When you started tidying your room I got up and did the same, haha! Studytube is really out there saving the day during lockdown. Xx
loving how teachers are setting way more than we would normally do and expect you to thrive i don't feel like im learning any of my A Level :( anybody else?
Online learning is very very different when you are just used to face to face teaching, the uni I attend (UHI) have been doing this for 10 years (I think) with some classes being delivered face to face and others delivered online by video conference. It isn’t always the best method in my opinion but we all just have to keep up motivation 😊 good luck guys😅
Completely get you eve, I’m doing a degree in Textiles and that would be all fine and dandy except we only really started having emails this weekend just gone and our final hand in is the 5th. Hope you and your family are doing ok and I know everything will workout for your year abroad x
Eve where are you on the Myers Briggs test (16 personalities test), i feel like you'd be an ENTJ but im super interested to see who you'd actually get :)
I can totally relate to how you’re feeling! I am having to finish my degree with literally no adaptations. I have 3 huge essay assignments which make up 65% of my degree and I haven’t had any Uni input since November due to placement so I am drowning 👍🏼😬 Good luck though and look after yourself 💕 x
I've just received 6 weeks' worth of a timetable for 3rd term that I have to work through myself to be examined in a formative way. I have never related to your rant more :( ! xx Keep going, you'll smash it anyways :)
Bless you Eve! I go to Winchester university. My semester finished 3rd April and we only had 1 week of online classes. The last week of the semester was just tutorials -it pretty much just simmered into nothing. My course is all coursework based so no exams. We do have a third “term” -which is a 3 week assessment period in May-as I don’t do exams it will probably end up as a holiday or extra time for coursework. I pray the best of luck to everyone who is doing exams during this weird time period in our academic lives.💜⭐️
haha poor tigger being called detritus 😂 I feel you on the online uni, somehow having to adapt my lab based masters online, so definitely feeling the pressure.
loved this video! sending you all the best wishes for the next term. Online study with mes would be really great videos to watch BUT I was also wondering if you have any tips for studying A Level language texts? I am in Y12 and studying La Casa de Bernarda Alba and Die Verlorene Ehre der Katharina Blum! Currently struggling to wrap my head around them but loving them still. xx
I’m doing online learning too and it’s sucks! Literally there’s nothing worse and sat reading a presentation on your own with no expansion on it. I really miss lectures and seminars 😟 I also have an online exam in may fun!
The only problem I have with online high school (Sweden) are teachers who do not have videocalls and instead send a bunch of emails. Something that takes 10 minutes to explain on videocall, can take up to 1h because of email explanations and misunderstandings. It really ain't that hard😭😤.
i’m just so confused and a little worried how education will recover? because i’ve heard rumours we will have to work into the summer to replace the weeks we’ve missed which makes a little sense but i’ve been working through all these weeks so why? but i know a lot of people who have not been set work and are falling behind. the uncertainty of not knowing what will happen is freaking me out and is just worsening my mental health (it’s not as bad as it was but going to school and socialising heavily affects it) and i’m just not sure what to do 😬
Ellen Shaw yeah same I’m so stressed rn...I’ve even been hearing rumours that year 10s and 12s may retake the year! (it’s just a stupid rumour but the uncertainty is rlly scary) just carry on doing work if you’ve been set any, but also remember that we’re all in the same situation education-wise so grade averages etc are bound to be lower for loads of ppl xxxx stay safe
I doubt we’ll have to retake a year etc but none of this is actually our fault. all we can do is keep doing our work whether you get assigned stuff or not🤷🏼♀️as scary as it is it’s down to the government now to figure it out
Yes please do an online version of a "study with me"! It is really hard doing everything online, I thought I would be more relaxed since I have all day, but not seeing friends, moving around and have a schedule is really hard! Thank you for your motivational videos
ahh doing my online learning too since yesterday! Kind of weird tbh because we haven’t fully been told if the work we’re doing contributes to our A Level grades 🤔 so excited to watch this video though! ☺️❤️
I really really hope you can come to Berlin in September! I'm German and I also think our government got it quite right during these crazy times 😊 my semester abroad in France also starts in September - really hoping it works!
Have had Hammer's grammar out from the library in my uni room all year and I didn't bring it home bc space but i regret it so much!! They always give us exercises to do from there and I feel lost without it!
If you have a tall enough ceiling you could get a double-sized loft bed frame (basically a raised double bed like a bunk bed with nothing on the bottom part), then you can have the entire underside space as a study :) I know IKEA do a reasonably priced one.
Hi Eve could we have a video on how you’re getting in with Blogilates? I am nearly halfway through the beginner calendar so would love to see how you are getting on!
So cool to spot some German novels on your private book shelf! What would you say is your level by now? Greetings from Göttingen, always nice to see someone who engages in learning German and beating the stereotype of a harsh and cold country/language :)
That sucks. I’m at Bristol and the information has been REALLY SLOOOOW to come through but there have been reductions. Ive gone from 9hrs a week lectures to 3-4hrs. Ive had no assessments cancelled but most have been simplified/changed. Most lecturers also seem keen to really help us out even if the uni are forthcoming. Ik like most Unis arent comparable to oxbridge at the best of times but it still feels weird and sucky.
It's kind of crazy how a supposed top Uni is dealing with this crisis. I have new found respect for Brighton Uni (my uni) for their amazing response to the current situation. They have dealt with mental health issues amazingly and have given endless support if and when we need it. They have been in constant communication, even before we went into lock down. I'm sorry your uni is not helping you.
This is the same as me. We have so many assignments and deadlines for May. And half of these assignments we didn’t even have lessons for as teachers were off sick before this Covid nightmare anyway! So we are literally screwed!
I’m supposed to be starting a children’s nursing degree, whilst I don’t expect freshers for September I’m worried the lack of communication since they won’t know us and the constant change in routine but whilst having to do a BTEC at home is hard, at least we’re getting stuff done
I'm doing GCSEs, and I've just found out that all my exams and coursework needs to be in by Friday (including art which is dead) so I'm not good. Also it's my birthday on Friday so that's gonna be rubbish
I’d love to see some streams of you just studying - like a socially distanced study date haha. I get that u live with family so it may not be possible though. You got this xxx
I had all of my first year exams cancelled and its horrible to hear how poorly Oxford is handling it because at Newcastle for medicine at least the med school has been extremely supportive it makes me grateful every day that I go there
is this bad ive taken a month of beacuse of this quartine and im in year 11 and the break acc really helped with my health i got rid of all the stress and it was great.I suggest you guys take a week or two off if you have no work to take care of yourself.
@ellie day Haha - as someone in Year 13 right now, I recommend just taking the time you have now to relax and, if anything, think about the subjects you're planning on doing. Take an online course on a relevant topic or start accumulating a reading list of books you'd be interested in!
What's really weird as well is how some unis have cancelled term and some haven't...it feels like some people are just going to be so behind with what they should have been learning from their degree....and the other half of students are going to be completely stressed out.
