As someone who loves music, but has no idea how to make any, I love watching behind the scenes of making music! I think it's best when someone records themselves making the song as they're doing it so that we can see their thought process better of what was going through their mind as they were making it
There's just something so heartwarming about this video! 💖 I'm always happy to see people explain things with a burning passion! As an artist, I find the "behind the scenes", the "inner kitchen" (as I call it) content very relatable! Seeing you making the first steps, doing experiments, leaving some versions in the drafts, tweaking things, sending parts of the song to your brother for feedback, having the "AHA!" moments and figuring things out, adding the finishing touches...It just makes the final creation all that more special. The context, the journey, the "how did I get here" is the most interesting thing to me, personally. When you know more about the journey, what it took you to get to the point that you are at now, it makes you view the "finished" piece in a completely different way. In a way where you appreciate it more, you admire it more, you cherish it more... 💖🌟 I'm really proud of you for releasing the song even if it didn't feel "perfect" to you! I know the "It could always be better, more perfect" thing and struggle with it myself, but the truth is, nothing will ever be "perfect"! :) I really hope that when you are in the process of making more songs, Dan, that you don't forget to document it! I'd love to see more videos like this! 🙌 That said, I'm looking forward to hearing and seeing your future tracks and videos! Keep up the good work, Dan, you're doing amazing! 🔥🌟
I love seeing behind the scenes too. This song is amazing Dan and thank you for everything 💙. You were part of my childhood and millions others we thank you for everything and Space Dog is FIRE 🔥. Keep up the amazing work TeamTDM Forever.
I love it when Dan goes full nerd mode and explains stuff like a creative process in detail, it’s so interesting and weirdly relaxing. The vid where he composes Mirror Sailboat is still one of my favourites
It reminded me of riddle school for some reason and it made me go rewatch the series, nostalgia is just a word that's often thrown out there but I have feelings I don't understand bring back to my past. Love all and ever Dan ❤❤
This is a great song. I love Lofi. I recently found medieval lofi, I’m sure it’s been around for a long time, but I can’t stop listening to it! lol Excellent tune, Dan! Thank you for sharing the behind the scenes goodies!! 🙌🏻😁 I love this stuff.
I know nothing about music and this inspired me in a way. I love this song I’ve been listening to it while studying and it helps! Can’t wait to hear more songs from you Dan.
As making music, you sometimes get ideas, scrap ideas, make different riffs, patterns etc. Also, if you constantly working on your project/music, you will feel unease, hearing it again and again, it makes you feel it’s terrible or overwhelmed. But if you feel like that, just take a break, and do something else, or go to bed, after that it refresh you mind. Overall making music is a very relaxing art. But I hope you had fun making this. Hopefully you can continue making more. 💯
Super cool seeing the process and I really learned a lot from it. Super happy to see you doing what you love just for the fun of it and understanding that even when there`s always more space for improvement, done is better than perfect. I really enjoyed the song, have it saved on my playlist. Excited to see what else you come up with
Im so excited to see what else you can do with your musical skills. This video was really interesting too, I love seeing behind the scenes so im glad you released this vid.
As a songwriter, your song was really good! Incredible actually!! love seeing how it’s made and your though process in it, looking forward to seeing what you make next! ✨
Really cool. Tbh had no idea that you'd made a song as I hadn't watched your content in a while but as a musician it's always really fun and enjoyable to see people do track breakdowns of their songs. Also the song sounds great.
It's crazy to see how far Dan has come, he started making moded Minecraft let's plays, (Dimond Minecart) and now makes amazing content and music, seep up the amazing work Dan!!❤️
Coincidentally I just bought FL a couple of days ago because I am working on music so much now as a hobby and needed an increase in workflow haha, great program! Also awesome job on spacedog!!
I know I’m a bit late to the party, but I’m glad you got new music! The chord progression you have is a great nostalgia progression. Using the Nashville number system, it’s a 1, Major 3, 6 5. The reason I said Major 3 instead of just 3 is because it’s a chord that is called “non-diatonic” (diatonic means belonging to the scale). The G# doesn’t belong in the key of C. More specifically than non-diatonic, it’s what’s called a “Secondary dominant chord.” It’s very common in lofi music. It’s also used in pop music. Vampire by Olivia Rodrigo and The Maybe Man by AJR are 2 good examples.
I really wish I knew how to make music like this... Spacedog is amazing. And prior to it, there is something about the music you see in retro games, or soundtracks like them in newer games that you enjoy, the best example I can think of is the "Town Night" music from Terraria, stellar track that one. ...all of that aside, Spacedog was phenomenal, and I'm looking forward to what ever music comes next! ( you did say more would be on the way...! )
This is great not only is dan making a song just for fun but also he is also sharing it with us and showing us how he does it. Thanks dan for all you do.
W Dan. You’re an absolute legend for knowing how to produce music and run a RU-vid channel that made our childhoods 10x better AND raise 2 kids. Keep up the good work.
0:01 I'm with you on that one, music hits better when you see the whole process of the song being made prior to listening to the final product. Abit like waiting for food to be made, you end up more hungry and appreciative when you watch the whole process of the meal being made before eating the meal.
this is everything I love! seeing how a song was made, and even hearing early versions/demos! (I have a weird obsession with early versions/demos of music 🤔) please pleaasseeee release more music (and, if you could.. more "how I made"s :D)
i love seeing behind the scenes stuff aswell i have been trying to create digital music for a while but not knowing where to start and this was a good help :D
I love this so much! I definitely want to see more videos like this for future songs if you're up for it! I'm really interested in music production so seeing how songs like this are made is really cool to me
i used to watch this man right here so much, and im currently making stuff going on spotify, so seeing him making music on the same software i use with the same plugins and vsts is the coolest thing ever great song
Love this behind the scenes!! Your style of making music is so similar to mine haha, same plugins and everything. Would really really love to see more of these music behind the scenes videos
(Please do more videos like this!) This was to cool to watch! I have been learning FL studios and how to make 8-bit music for the past 2 months and I have learn a LOT I have learned some basic music theory and how to structure your music I have also a LOT of videos on what the best plugins you can use for 8-bit music and a whole lot more! so this was really cool to see your process and how you made your music its so surreal to see you without Krush and reference Toby Fox! If I could recommend some plugins for you to try I would recommend 1. SNES Verb 2. Vinyl Guitar 2 -this one is really good for Lo-Fi! 3. Super Audio Cart 4. Thump One 5. Keep Bass 6. GennyFL 7. Magical 8-bit plugin Hopeful you like and use some of these! Thank you for making this please do more!
I love behind the scenes with music a lot and seeing my fav youtuber getting to enjoy music and showing us the science is so amazing And also I really like how talented you are in it! Im really looking forward to more tracks/songs, either lowfi rock or anything you love playing with ! #buildmyplaylist
I've gone from being in year 6 watching dan play MC, to studying music + music tech at A levels watching dan create music. I'd love to see more of this as it's a less theory based and more abstract way of creating music!
PLEASE more videos like this🙏🙏 I love all your gaming videos, but I also really enjoy just watching stuff like this that you are so passionate about :D
Congrats on your new song Dan!! This song is calming and sounds kinda sci-fi ish?? Idk but it really helps when I'm doing homework or just chilling. Ty :)
The Dr. Trayaurus Rap song literally makes me realize you could be super good at making music in general this kind of stuff is super fun when you get the hang of it I'm glad you like doing it I'd love to hear more! Very Catchy btw
