The kit looks totally bad ass! And the pictures at the end with all the old "Stilt" stands leaning in towards the kit oh man...just pure greatness. Congratulations!
Beautiful kit. I have a similar set myself. Mine are white Tama Granstars with chrome hardware. I would've loved to powder coated mine, but I was gigging a lot back on the 90s and was afraid it would wear off with all the use. Still have them, and they still sound great.
The three most iconic drum kits of all time in no particular order: Ringos black oyster Ludwig. Bonham vistalites. And Lars white w/black hardware. Take a bow, sir. That is extremely well done!
Absolutely amazing restoration! I have two Artstar II kick drums that were damaged in shipping many years ago, all four wooden hoops completely smashed. Been using metal ones since, and now I'm finally ready to restore/upgrade back to wood. Do you know what the correct depth is on those bass drum hoops? Not sure if it's 1.5" or 1.75", not much info out there... Thanks!!!
Why make a replica of Lars old kit. He himself never really liked the kit as he said it was hard to play. Lars downsized his kit, saying he sat behind Sean Kenny's kit and everything was so much easier to play that he decided to downsize his kit. Big kits may look cool but they are usually a monster to play.
