@@daltonhk2 It’s still a waste of plastic. There are other ways that can do the same thing in a more environmentally conscious way. Oh wait…you don’t give a fck, do you.
Got you talking about it. And if you have ever used firewood it goes pretty quick might as well said three for 20 or 7 a piece. It’s not supposed to be a deal it’s supposed to sell you three instead of two bc no one who knows anything Doesn’t ever buy just one. The real question is how much after three?
For doing all the work yourself and buying the overhead, I think it’s a good deal. Rock on bro!! Make that money! If people are buying it then it’s a deal.
Hes making like min wage, cutting down his front yard 😂 I wouldnt be celebrating too hard over there. Time better spent with family enjoying the nature in front of you imo
@zwicker5585 here you are thinking this is his only job. What a tool... probably has a log splitter my neighbor took a tree that we took down in my yard and had it split and stacked In a couple hours gave us a grand towards the cost of the tree got 4k worth of wood out of it
That’s what I did when I sold firewood in my front yard and it was on the honor system a bucket with a slot on top or I could deliver ten ricks at a time with my flatbed dump truck.
@@MuenchnerGrow anything else will probably require more resources and labor and electricity to manufacture and deliver. the cost of the item is often a good reflection of how bad hard it is on the environment. ie, the more work something requires, the more expensive it is. that's maybe 1 cent worth of plastic. very efficient. which is overall better for the environment
I Love it! I do the Same on my Farm. A Little Inspiration for the eco guys, if you use a small jute twine, your customers can burn it with the wood and It’s (for me here in switzerland) the same price as plastic wrap.
Awesome! I think I have stayed away from the twine because of speed and tightness but I think I could look into it! I’m sure there’s a way to do it quickly and keep it cinched tight, I’m not opposed to it! Thanks for commenting.!
A lot of idiot to care about this small amount of plastic when the real problem is people don't know how to throw garbage away you ever thought, if you threw the plastic into the recycling, like a normal human being, it would get recycled, therefore, the amount of plastic used would be recycled, you genius, but maybe if people recycled, you wouldn't be commenting this, huh?
Capitalising off the people from the city that come to camp, great idea. Most pre dried and split wood goes for £50 a ton around here but people that are camping for a couple of days don’t want 1000kg of wood. Would even be worth buying some to resell at that price.
@@MrGharDK Wow that’s crazy, pine isn’t even that great for burning as well 😭 Most of that 1000kg I buy is oak with a bit of birch. Since it’s worth so much, I’ll drop you a suitcase full next time in visiting 😂
@@UpstateMavericI sure hope they don’t get it fuck the its man get that money fuck them!! Hope u just saying that cause it’s online… if it’s cash they got no way of knowing
@@davidsawyer1599 don't care what they say. Can go bark at the moon. For all I care. I save more than most by having a UNDERGROUND HOUSE. Only burn wood for heat. He'll, I don't cut a lawn ,because I don't have one. Waster of my time and gas. Hell, haven't had a t.v. in 7 years.
You know, I totally agree, selling firewood and everything that way people don’t bring wood from their areas or wherever they’re naturally from because all kinds of weird bugs and other stuff they can bring in but the same exact time and stay using plastic you should be using hemp cordage you can buy it buy a big roll or bulk online for fairly cheap actually cheap in the plastic
Good honest work. But, $10K means cutting, stacking, wrapping, hauling, and selling 1,400-1,500 of those bundles. Hope you get some customers with big orders.
Right! It bugs me for some reason when everyone has these little side hustles nowadays and wants to brag about it and the money it makes but no ones doing the math on what’s really involved, time is not free!
Great idea! It may be an option as some people have reusable bags that can be returned to repeat customers. Just wait for a city ordinance to make it illegal to sell anything in front of your home just like lemonade stands
I appreciate people like you-thank you! Some comments here hilariously ridiculous-I camp all over the Midwest in all kinds of places, and I always look for a local stand like yours. 1-not packing extra weight or space for travel. 2-not possibly transporting invasive species. 3-some areas and places is illegal to transport outside or region firewood.
I just was about 800 miles away from home camping, and paid it forward to a local road side stand there. I’ll be honest, I drove to a handful of different ones trying to find one of decent quality… I’m real picky about mine 😂 … I appreciate the comment! If you’re ever in my area, a free bundle on me!
No the biggest ripoff is bottled water. But as long as people will pay $1.75 for a 16oz bottle of water , i can't get mad at some company who is selling water for $14.00 a gallon. Yeah, do the math and tell me that's not a ripoff. BUT MILLIONS OF PEOPLE ARE PAYING IT. 4 times the price of gasoline. Insanity.
People pay premium for convenience and instant gratfication. In other words: Lazy people work overtime to avoid having to do things themselves. Unfrugal people pay interest to compensate for lack of planning ahead and/or patience. The bargain is in the margins of time, matter and energy leveraged to create or extract value.
Electric heaters cost nothing to use now anyway. Haven't used my fireplace for that same reason, $10 a bag of wood you need 2 bags for a night without any redwood in the bag. A Electric heater costs like $2 and no smell.
Frankly my location is my marketing hahaha I share a border with one of the premier campgrounds in the area on one of the busiest 2 lanes in NY - I just have some small signs out front with a pull through driveway !
You should also include a card with the area the wood was harvested from, in NY it's a big thing for primitive campers, been asked by DEC to show the proof before.
If that bundle measured 1 cubic foot, that makes a cord of wood (128cu/ft) almost $1000.00 of you bought it that way. Not a bad return for the price of a little plastic wrap and rope. That's assuming he bought the wood already cut to size and split for whatever the current rate is.
I end up doing a combo of wood I’ve cut and wood I buy to keep up with the supply… I normally have to re split what I buy, but I have a Super Split I do this with so it goes quick!
People like even numbers. And people like deals that make sense. Start individual bundles at 6. 2 for 12, or 3 for 15. And i guaruntee your sales go up.
It’s to incentivize buying 3, which is most likely the amount he sells most of. I understand that might be hard to comprehend considering you sound like a bundle of sticks
Seems like a lot of work honestly sourcing and or cutting the wood, processing it, and lugging it around for 10k if you mean per year lol. Not trying to knock the hustle but I won’t be rushing to install a wood stand anytime soon.
On the Reservation dudes sell a Row of wood for $25, the whole cord for $125 thats during summer, Winter time it bumps up to $35 and about 180-200 for the full load.
There are two frames here. Either you hand cut all that wood which makes 10k ehh for the amount of work you had to do. Or you have a splitter which costs money that is now capital in your business. Making 10k just the start of what you can do. But 10k a year additional is cool, unless you have to work 40+ hours on top of your usual 40+ hours.
Generational wealth!!! Three things 1. He has a place to work from. 2. He has the income to buy the equipment. 3.He is in a community where they are not desperate for resources.
$7 a bundle is pretty average that's usually what I see at the grocery store and at 7-Eleven. Idk why people complaing. Maybe they brokies.12 peice per bundle?
everyone in the comments complaining... going caping building a fire in the backyard.... pick up some thats the points its not a great deal its not a good deal its convenient
So if you take that wrap and flip it over and wrap it the other way it will be tighter and you don’t have to use more wrap when it’s not working for you.
You probably getting a bit of hate for the plastic. I like your jig and you could definitely use twine that way people could just chuck the whole bunch on handle included
99% of my bundles are hardwood, mostly ash, I don’t advertise that incase something else gets worked in, I’m selling to campers that will burn just about anything, my only requirement is that it is dry
Woah; I go to work where this is done. Got a big circle behind with a roll of the plastic on an arm. Foot peddle make it spin. 15ish pallets 60 bundles each, a day
Why not use twine to bundle or some sort of rope? Very small bundles that won’t burn long but I’m assuming he’s capitalizing on campers traveling to the area.
Selling overpriced firewood to old ladies- that’s the ONLY people I’ve EVER seen buy wood like this… I’d pick up sticks off the side of the road before I’d ever buy a bundle of wood like this … but I hear ya, you do YOU!
