Hi, I also make a beeswax blend(a bit different then yours) I gave up on wooden wicks. From my testing, I found them to be so unpredictable Im going with cotton instead. Hats off to you for getting wooden wicks to work with beeswax
@earthglow
@earthglow 2 года назад
Hi Lisette! I do not blame you at all-I spent several thousand dollars and made more than 100 candles in the testing process of my wood wick line, and I always tell my clients that they are somewhat unpredictable (even within a single candle) due to the nature of the wood wicks. Many clients love them but for some, they’re too much maintenance and they just prefer cotton. I think there’s an audience for both!! Props to you for making an educated decision that works best for your business. Love and light always 🌱💛

First off, I'd like to say that between this video & the latest one posted on your recipe, I am so impressed with the amount of detail as to why/how you came up with this formulation. I have been making freshies & wax melts, but am now interested in delving into candles, but have been scared...for a number of reasons - but one was the unknown of safe vs. unsafe waxes. I am eager to try this recipe & I can't thank you enough for sharing it. I look forward to HOURS of testing. :) With all that said, I did want to follow up my notes that I took on this & your other video, regarding your recipe. In THIS video, I think I counted 13 vessels that you filled, what size are they? I was ultimately wanting to know how many candles THIS video's recipe yielded. Again, thank you for sharing all your knowledge & allowing other makers an opportunity to try something new.

Hi Juanita! Thank you so much for your comment. This batch usually makes just under 13 candles or 12 *very very full* candles. What I do is make 13 and pull the slightly underfilled one from almost every batch as a test candle, since this wax blend is still fairly new to me. If you try this blend, do make sure to purchase the ingredients from the supplier’s mentioned, especially the beeswax-it’s so crazy but the Amazon supplier I should have linked has got the creamiest beeswax and it’s fairly inexpensive for beeswax too!! You’ve got this!!! Love and light always 💛🌱

Hi hi, I'm rather new in making candles. Been watching your videos especially about your wax blends and wick. It's actually pretty hard to find the wooden wick like yours in my country. But I can find a typical cotton or eco wick here. Which one you think best for your wax blends other than wooden wick? And another question, we didn't really have coconut oil in solid state like yours. Is it okay to use coconut oil in liquid state? Thank you so much for your time!
@earthglow
@earthglow Год назад
Hi Balqis! Thank you so much for your comment and a warm welcome to our RU-vid candle fam. For my wax blend, I’d recommend trying an Eco Wick, however I have not tested this myself-they tend to work well for many waxes, including natural dense vegetable wax blends. If you use coconut oil in a liquid state, it will effect your final result, likely substantially. Have you checked your local grocery stores for coconut oil in a solid state? This would certainly be ideal. Love and light always 💛🌱

@earthglow
@earthglow 10 месяцев назад
Hi April! I have not tested this formula with cotton wicks but i have a version of this blend that I have (and still do) use in tins. If you watch my video labeled “Make 240 Summer Lovin’ Candles with me,” the blend I am using in my wholesale tins is very similar one to this and I have my formula in the description if you’d like to try. I use a CD 12 wick in general with an 8 oz, 3” diameter tin.

How does your wax blend perform for you? I had to downsize the wooden wicks to .375 for double wicking because the .5's burning too hot.
@earthglow
@earthglow 2 года назад
I’m happy with the performance of this blend but I don’t think any blend can give perfect results. Yes, the best size depends on your wax type and vessel. There’s so much testing involved as you know!! I wish you continued success and warmly welcome you to our RU-vid family 🌱.
@earthglow
@earthglow 2 года назад
I also tried double-wicking this container and found that even the .375” wicks were burning too hot for comfort-at least with my wax blend!!! Vessels that are about 3” diameter are right on the boarder for single-wicking and double-wicking and can be trickier to find the right balance.

If you don’t mind me asking how would I make this batch but way smaller? I’m starting a candle business and I am having a hard time figuring out a good formula and watching your videos has given me so much drive! I have made a few candles that aren’t coming out the best. The smell is great but they tend to tunnel a lot. So I have to go back and fix them often. I have beeswax and coconut oil and a good soy wax that I have recently bought and I was just wondering how to get a good precise formula of those three ingredients without wasting anymore of my product because I do not have much money. I’m a single mom living low income and really need some help 🙏🏼

Hi! Looks like the beeswax and coconut oil are out of the stock. Can you recommend another one? Also can I just use organic coconut from Trader Joe’s? Thanks!!
@earthglow
@earthglow 2 года назад
Hi Kim! I updated the description to another supplier on Amazon that sells the same beeswax, however with the coconut oil, I would recommend using coconut oil 76 degrees (this has to do with the temperature that it melts at and it effects the blend). I have tried other coconut oils in the past but this one definitely performs the best for me. You can call Soaper's Choice and see when they're getting it in again--they re-stock generally pretty quickly in my experience. Or maybe give the Trader Joe's a try! Hope this helps!

Hi there! Have you tried the beeswax in my Amazon storefront? This is the one I have had the best luck with. Cracking is very common with beeswax and I’d recommend using coconut oil to help keep your beeswax from cracking (it also enhances hot throw). I’d recommend a rate of at least 1 part coconut oil for every 9 parts beeswax.
