Can you please give us a detailed explanation of what tools and the metal cylinder you were using so we can get the same ones? Links to where we can buy them would also work.
@LockNoob

Daniel Jaworski it’s 3mm brass rod. The tools are Draper finger files but any will do, a Stanley knife and various unbranded rotary tool cut-off discs, nothing special. I used 1000 grit wet and dry paper to finish I think x could have been 800 grit. 😃👍

Just started lock picking 2 days ago. I'm in Canada, so I got everything from Sparrows (kinda proud of such a great company being Canadien :o) Stuff from Sparrows are top notch! I also purchase both sets of special pins, hopefully the scrooge pins will be out again next holiday season so I can get some. I really liked this video, I have some pins designs ideas and was wondering if you are at all interested? I could PM you my ideas? Today I learned that you could vise a Dremel and use it as a makeshift lathe if the rod fits it. :) You’ve said in other comments that you used 3mm brass rod, so the only other questions I have are unrelated to this specialty pin-making video. If I find a relevant “make your own picks” video on your channel I’ll try to ask there. I’ve been binging Lock Noob, Bosnianbill, and LockPickingLawyer this week so I’m bound to find at least one of your old ones. Groovy stuff, LN!

No, as it turns out, the floating checkers *were* needed - I got the Chess cutaway lock, and the top of the queen (I think) is inside the spring. Doesn't actually affect the picking - it still drops below the shear line, but perhaps not quite as far as it should. . Was that a cutting disc out of a Dremel? That's very clever. . When making one's own pins, is there anything to be especially careful about? Like, what is the minimum thickness a pin can get while still being...stable?..I guess that's the word. 1mm? .5mm? . Oh! I though that big serrated pin was the Rook.

Hi Mr lock Noob and anyone else who can help. I just brought a sargent and greenleaf 826C. It has no key and if I am correct it has a medeco 6 pin core with a non commercially available keyway. I am hoping I can pick this open not sure my skill level is going to stretch this far. If I am lucky and I do get this open I would like to make a key for the lock or if no suitable key can be found replace the core with something that would get the lock operational again. Any ideas?
@Anonymous8317
@Anonymous8317 4 года назад
Info I’d imagine if you did pick it, you could take it to an authorized dealer for them who could produce the key.
@RICK82873
@RICK82873 4 года назад
Anonymous8317 8317 hi. From what I have been told the dealer won’t touch it as the lock is made for the U.S military with a proprietary key way. They will only cut keys for the US military who purchased the lock and they won’t issue blank keys. This lock was made in 1975 but the contract still stands and medeco won’t help :(.
@Pyrolock
@Pyrolock 4 года назад
If you can get the lock picked CCW (or plug spin it CCW if picked CW), then the lock will come apart and you can take the cylinder out. You could modify a KnK core to retrofit, or I used to see Medeco "Green" cores for sale on eBay, or fit an operational Medeco plug into the bible (and, of course, change the pins / sidebar to match the key you would already have)
@LockNoob
@LockNoob 4 года назад
Some good comments on this. You could get a new core possibly for it or hand cut a key if you have a blank. This is very hard though due to all the angles but possible I believe 👍
