Can you make a video about the differences between cycles and octane, i’ve been seing lately renders made with octane and I’m pretty amazed.

@voltairengaCF The render engine doesn't have much bearing on the quality of art, there are plenty of cases of amazing renders in Cycles, Octane, even game engines.
@nivellium
@nivellium 11 месяцев назад
@@locinolacolino1302 True, When it comes to results it's solely depends on the artist but every render engine has pros and cons for exp ue is very good at handling geometry, Octane has post effects and glass material and other shaders are crazy real looking, cycles has tons of add-ons, geometry nodes etc.

Can you make a video on doin the same but puttin yourself into the 3d enviroment like a music video or something like that and cover topics like the illumination and everything you need to do to make yourself fit into the 3d enviroment
@nivellium

I'll cover that topic for sure, but right now I'm focused on providing the abcd's of blender octane. Once it's done, I will cover topics like you've just suggested.

This is why I wish Blender had texture painting like UE5. Did you do node groups or literally just sandwich layer on layer?
@nivellium
@nivellium 6 месяцев назад
You can use mix material or composite material nodes too but I don't like to use that because it's very GPU intensive plus the results are just better with sandwiching different layers and you have more control.

Amazing…Love your content man..appreciated… Can you please tell me that can i get the same to same output with cycles??? Because i tried alot things didn’t find any solution for the displacement you’re getting!! Please reply!!! Thank you
@nivellium
@nivellium Год назад
Glad you liked it!, The simple answer for why you're not getting the same result is render engine. Closest thing you can do to get this type of result in cycles is mixing two materials or place some debris manually or by particle system.
@Love.factss
@Love.factss Год назад
@@nivellium So basically you’re saying cycle can’t give us this type of displacement directly like that way octane give us right??
@nivellium
@nivellium Год назад
Yes ,Indeed
@locinolacolino1302
@locinolacolino1302 11 месяцев назад
@@Love.factss The Displacement modifier should work, albeit less responsive since it runs on a single thread and adds geometry. Unlike Octane's Gpu virtualised displacement, which doesn't add any additional geometry.

its amazing bro....but how i can do in cycle render it is so complicated. And those noode i am seeing it for the first time.... it is different from cycle one or not....and also i only know the basic surface concrete making process through basic color and roughness but how to add tiles those tittle texture in cycle. any help it will be awesome.
@nivellium
@nivellium 10 месяцев назад
It’s a different render engine called Octane which is free to use for blender. Comes as a addon I have a tutorial about how to install and get started with it covering basic functions and about the textures you’re seeing here cannot be made in cycles as I’m overlaying two or more planes with different textures on top of each other. You can make awesome looking ground in cycles too but the procedure would be very much different I’d recommend you to check out Max Hay’s tuts on ground textures something like that.

Hello, great Video! Am I right that you dont use any displacement at all? If so I wonder why the shift in the z axis work? Kind regards 😊
@nivellium
@nivellium 11 месяцев назад
It's octane not cycles so displacement works differently in octane so you can stack up different planes on top of each other. I don't think cycles let's you do that.

Hello! I was wondering is there any way how you can convert botaniq materials of trees and grass to octane? You can re link all the textures in theory but maybe is there any simpler way to do that?
@nivellium
@nivellium 7 месяцев назад
I have done it manually by just using the albedo, roughness, normal etc Though there is a convert material tab which works most of the times but botaniq’s textures goes through tons of other nodes so that option doesn’t work

Does the Ychen Dou addon still work in the 2022 version? Love the video, but you too fast man, can't keep up. I thought mixing UNI materials was impossible in blender_octane. So you just layer materials stacking one on top of the other?
@nivellium
@nivellium 10 месяцев назад
Don’t know about that addon I’ll have to check. Yes I stack it up on top of each other also the mixing materials work in Blender octane but I don’t prefer using that method.
