Thank you for being so open and willing to help! I do a question and I am hoping you can give me some sort of guidance please. I know that you put in the years and the effort, and I can see by the way you're carrying yourself in this video. The question I have is, I currently am studying for a PMP through Couresa and Google. I am about 50% done with the course and would like to know if you recommend me going into freelancing or a career, as in 9-5. I currently am a customer service rep for AWS (Accounts & Billing team) with around 6 months management experience and 2 years of senior customer service support experience. My overall goal is to generate more money than I am currently earning in the shortest possible time. The barrier I am facing now is the following: 1. I am in South Africa, and all the PM posts I can find, in operations and traditional PM roles all require minimum 2 years experience. Some even offering less than what I earn right now. With the above information, would you suggest I turn to freelancing instead?

Hello and thank you for your comment and kind words! I also appreciate your patience with my response here. The answer to your question depends on many different factors, such as your current skill level with project management and future plans. The Google PM certificate is a great resource for learning and becoming familiar with PM methodology, but it won't necessarily help you land a job. You're right that many of the roles titles "Project Manager" require years of experience. This is why it's often advised to enter this field through adjacent job titles that provide project experience (such as Project Coordinator, Project Admin, even Business Analyst). That being said, one piece of advice would be to search for full time roles focused on projects, but not necessarily with the "Project Manager" job title. As for freelancing in project management, you may find that you encounter the same barriers. Often freelance PM roles require project experience as well. This is why it's advised to get some project experience under your belt first, unless you are willing to take more entry level type jobs to build your resume. At the end of the day, experience is where it's at, so however you can gain that I would recommend heading there first - even if it's a job title that's lower than what you want. Hi and thanks for watching! The book I refer to in the video is Total Money Makeover by Dave Ramsey. It was life changing for me because it taught me about the value in having multiple incomes streams and how to strategically payoff debt.
