Finding project management work on freelance sites has become quite competitive now a days and sellers are exploited which leaves them with no option other than to accept a lower price offer. This also leads to demotivation and agony. I will try the strategy of reaching out to my network and asking startups on how my skill set can be beneficial for their enterprise. Will see the results obtained. Hopefully positive.

Hi - thanks for watching! I made another video called 10 Places to Find Work as a Freelance Project Manager and it provides specific examples. My recommendation for startups and small businesses is: surveying your personal network, joining local small business groups like One Million Cups, and joining FB groups for small businesses. There are also Project Management placement groups like Talent Cheetah, but that's not specifically small business and startups. Good luck!

Hey Kayla, I work as a project manager for a fintech company. We recently were required to return to the office full time. I would like to freelance in my free time, which is at night. Is it possible to find freelance PM work that caters to after normal work hours?

Hi and thanks for watching! You can find freelance PM positions that are more flexible, but it really depends on the company and their needs. PM positions that are heavily client-facing might not be the best fit for you if you are working at another positions during the day. I recommend reaching out to your network first, then moving on to target companies that typically use contract services. Good luck!

I'll be graduating soon with my project management degree. A lot of the jobs for project management require several years of experience in a project manager role. Do you think that pursuing freelance first is more doable?

Hi and thanks for your comment here! My recommendation would be to get some project management experience under your belt before going the freelance route. As you mentioned, many Project Manager roles require years of experience, so you might want to consider other positions that don't have this title. Positions such as Project Coordinator, Project Assistant, and sometimes even Business Analyst can give you relevant project experience to land Project Manager jobs in the future. Of course, it all depends on your current experience level and future plans. Good luck!

Hi and thanks for watching! Your best bet for landing an internship is through networking. Become active on LinkedIn and start connecting. Attend networking events in your town. It will take some work, but that’s how this works :)

@calmsimon Thank you for watching! I don't recommend cold outreach on LinkedIn. That is not an approach I have ever taken, nor would I suggest anyone else. However, what I do recommend wholeheartedly is warm connecting and relationship building on LinkedIn (and other places). This is a more appropriate approach and can yield great ROI.
