The best thing about HIMYM is that it made us feel like the gang is also our gang. Like Barney and Ted are also our best bros and thats why we also sang with them during this song XD
I was 12. I saw this scene randomly on TV. I then watched this whole episode online, out of curiosity. This turned out to be my favorite show of all time. This became my comfort show, with all my tears and laughs from the episodes. All these feelings because of this episode, specifically this scene. ILY HIMYM!
Should have recorded the whole song, I know how much work that is but it would have been so good and would have made lots of money. I feel like me and my friends should do it
I sung this over and over at school at school today. Doing a quartet with yourself is actually quite fun. "Woooo oh oh oh. (For the longest) For the longest time i i i ime. Woah oh oh. (For the longest). For the longest... If you said goodbye to me tonight (woo ooh ooh) there would still be music left to write (dum dum dum) what else can I do? I'm so inspired by you! That hasn't happened in the looongest time!
Uh, if you knew the real definition of retarded, then that could offend a lot of people. And BTW it wasn't just me saying it, its all over the comments sooo.... Have a nice day !
I am one one of those who thinks this is a lille better.. And it is because "now Barney" and "20 years from now Ted" sings the verse in two different voices, and the original is only Billy Joel singing :)
If you don't mean thats after you're full of emotions like sorrow and feeling low because the time has passed that will never come back, this video worked as a catalyst to help you have a breakdown, I can't agree with you
Timetoplay1337 This episode was based on Ted's sadness that he was alone. So, in his head, he recreated a scene from 5 years earlier (the Minnesota Title wave battle). Then, he was coming up with reasons why and why not to go to robots vs. wrestlers. The reason this episode was so sad was because it's a sobering feeling when you realize you are truly alone. It goes great with the first episode of season 9 because people are treating him differently because he doesn't have a date. Well this is just copied from Matt Buck (one comment above)
Thnx for the view and I hope the like! It means the world to me, when you search this vid I'm the first thing that pops up. I'm so happy that this vid did so well. Have a nice day!

It really is. When Barney says to Ted that he is alone and it pans out to him being all alone in the booth, is one of the saddest things I ever saw on television. I tend to skip this episode because it's really hard to watch
I love how shows get you more invested in every character by doing stuff like this. It really helps to make you feel the characters sadness. This episode is one of the reasons I was so put down by the ending. Because Ted had found the perfect girl and when she died I could only imagine he reverted back to this state.
These little minor musical bits really contributed to showcasing talent on the show. This is a perfect example. Or Marshall singing "You Just Got Slapped", which, unfortunately, loses quite a bit without Barney's part. Can anyone else name any?(I know I left out "Nothing Suits Me Like A Suit", but I wouldn't call that a minor bit.)
This series will always have a special place in my heart. Taught me so many things about life, friendship, being in love and what it takes to keep people close to you. Thank you for everything
God, i didnt realize how unsatisfied i was in life until i heard this. then i was like "whoa. my life.. its... complete. i can die now with no regrets."
I'm actually surprised Josh Radnor sounds so good in this. His line in nothing suits me like a suit sounds rushed and tone deaf. But in this he sounds like a very capable singer.
It's just phenomenal that this comes directly after the most heartwrenching episode of the series, completely tears you apart and still leaves a smile on your face!
xXConsumXx You see, I have only one rule. Never get married until you're at least 30. And I realized, I am over 30. And you have to admit it. Robin is kinda hot.
Barney Stinson Barney is my favorite character. Dare I say? Legen-- I hope you're not lactose intolerant because the next word is DARY! LEGENDARY! 3 years with robin though? I would have though you'd do better than that. What happened, man? A whole season dedicated to your marriage and it only lasts 3 years?
Oh, oh, oh For the longest time Oh, oh, oh For the longest If you said goodbye to me tonight There would still be music left to write What else could I do I'm so inspired by you That hasn't happened for the longest time Once I thought my innocence was gone Now I know that happiness goes on That's where you found me When you put your arms around me I haven't been there for the longest time
This is why I'll never compare HIMYM with friends.... HIMYM is emotional and kind of innovative show... and FRINDS is just a sitcom, with good chemistry (except phoebe) . . . . . . oops
I somewhat agree. I love both because they do exactly what they’re supposed to do. HIMYM was all about the suspense of who the mother was and Friends is just one of those shows you can watch, have a fun time doing so and then carry on. However, I think Phoebe is a very good comic relief character on some of the heavier stuff in that show, along with Joey. Nevertheless, I do agree that HIMYM is FAR superior because it had one key thing that kept you coming back with some of the best written stories and characters piled on top (Just my opinion of course).
I'm sorry, have you even seen Friends? There are tons of emotional moments, like the moment Ross and Rachel break up, that's probably the most emotional moment
@@masonhorsley1505 The depth of emotional, and other characteristics that require a sitcom to make their viewers go through a roller coaster of emotions is way more catchy is himyn than friends. Ross and rachel break up doesn't come close to many other scenes in himym like Marshall's dad's death, if ted would ever find someone who he can spend the resf of his life with, Marshall's career, Ted's lifelong dream of building a skyscraper, and after all that, everyone leaving for their own shit during the inauguration of his building. Himyn is just superior in terms of grabbing peoples attention and make them watch on and on. Friends was gold. Yes. Not denying that. Friends set the foundation for himym. But himym built on that with a lot of character devt, emotional roller coasters, career wins and fails, and on top of all, the music. The bgm in himym is to die for. And the musicals. In everything himym is just a very underrated show. Never got as much attention as friends. Its just amazing. And to top it off himym is closer to reality than friends ever was. Don't get me wrong, the chances of the incidents that happened in friends and himym to the real world is very less. But himym was closer to realitg than friends was. Every major discussion from career to eventual separation was detailed perfectly. The only thing that ruined the show was the last few epispdes of the last season. Other than that, the show is amazing.

Fun Fact: I haven't seen the finale. I've read summaries of it and like 4 synopses, but I have never and will never watch it. I am refusing to believe it happened. Seriously. I almost have the whole series on DVD, but even when I get all the seasons, I will never ever watch the last episode of this crazy, brilliant, wonderful show. Because they flushed 9 years of character development down the toilet. Also Swarkles is 5eva and The Mother is still living happily ever after with Ted. True story.
Katie Balfour i refused to read anything on it and watched in the morning after it had come out, my brother who is an equally big fan of the show hadn't watched it yet and i warned hi so many times not to watch it and that i couldn't tell him why but curiosity got the better of him ://

So, I don't know why, but for the last 8 years on new years eve I come here and listen to this interpretation as a sort of a ritual. It gives me some special feeling of hopefulness and joy, I hope it gives something special to you too. Happy new years everyone, wish you all growth, happiness, strenght and health! See you in a year :)
Actually if Ted wasn't hallucinating it would be true. Since Ted's wife died already at 2030, the children forced him to marry Robin. Then they would be married in that time (2033).
Dude, after that final scene, they probably hooked up that night and immediately started wedding plans. I know Robin wasn’t keen on marriage and that she didn’t want kids and wanted to focus on her career while Ted wanted kids, but if you think about it, in that final scene, they had achieved all of their goals and there was nothing holding them back. People always criticize the ending, but if you watch the series 50 or so times all the way through like I did, it becomes obvious that it was going to end that way, and you can actually appreciate it.
This was my favorite episode for several reasons. The harmony is perfect. This episode is all about Ted being alone. It foreshadows the mom dying and shows how if he could. Ted would run to Tracy and spend the extra 45 days with her because he knows he's gonna lose her eventually and be alone again.
I’m so sad himym has ended even though it’s been 6 years it doesn’t get as much love as it deserves it’s honestly the best sit com out there I actually love this show so much
