The way I read while being a student is that I don't 😂 Once uni starts, I struggle a lot with my reading because, after having to read all sorts of crap for uni, the last thing I wanna do is read more, which is, of course, sad, because I would love to read more of my TBR, but I am one of those people that gets tired really quickly, short attention span, you name it, I have them all.

I keep my immediate TBR/book I'm reading on my desk so they're always in reach. Books I want to read soon, I have on a separate TBR cart so that I can keep track of them but not feel overwhelmed. I use Goodreads as well to catalogue what I'm currently reading and what I've read, but I also use an Excel spreadsheet. The spreadsheet tracks my reading monthly and has star ratings, different identity representations I'm trying to track and be mindful of, the target age for a group, etc.

I basically organize my whole life in a moleskin notebook! It’s like bullet journaling, but very stripped down. I set yearly, monthly, and weekly goals and sometimes make daily to do lists when I’m busier. I use watercolor pens to highlight the lists, a different color every month! And I keep track of the books I read that year, the shows and movies I watched, in a list in the front. :)

With all my organizational systems, I like to have a *lot* of leeway for if/when plans change. I use Notion, too, and have a big database of all the books read in a year, and a smaller page with a checklist for my month’s TBR! I also like having a physical TBR pile too, right at head height so I see it all the time and am reminded to *read*. My school stuff is all online and bc I don’t want to be on screens too much, I keep track of deadlines in a paper journal. I’m a big “week by week” person so I try to not overwhelm myself. 😊

I'm using a bullet journal as a method to stay organized. But tbh it took me over a year to create a system and pages that helped me and I actually used. Also even though I know now what works for me in a way (I'm still a very messy person with my thoughts all over the place lol) I still switch things up from time to time. For the months I had Uni online I had to create a different system than for the time I had Uni offline and before Covid-19. I also don't need most of the pages like weekly or even daily spreads during the semester break. And I totally get why bullet journaling isn't for everyone. I only got into it with my second try. It also really takes time to create the spreads and try things out etc. but I actually like that. It's self-care for me, sitting down and getting my thoughts and tasks, etc on paper and also taking the time to make things look nice.

So I have a currently reading of 2-4 books at any given time. Those are either on my desk, nightstand, bag, etc. My very short list(next 2 owned books) I keep on my desk. Then for owned books tbr I keep that on one particular shelf that I know that those books are on my list. For unowned tbr of books I either will buy or borrow I use story graph, while it is still in beta I don't want to support amazon. To track my reading I have like 3-4 methods. First and foremost is an annual Spreadsheet where I track books, graphic novels, and comics and date finished. As well as author stats - mostly as last year I realized I read a lot of north american and British authors who primarily were white, so I wanted to read more/different voices and support people who can't always get published easily. Second I use my bullet journal(also how I organize being a student, but mine is very basic) which just has a list of books read and finish date- I also have a spread for if I hear of something that seems interesting while I"m out and about I write it down there. Then again I use story graph, but since its still in beta it doesn't have everything yet. Finally I have a notebook that kinda functions as a less formal review/thoughts place where I write down 2 pages of notes/quotes/whatever on every book I read. Is this overly complicated? Yes. Does it work for me? Also yes

Thank you for sharing how you stay organized. While I’m no longer a student, but I lived and died by the OneNote and Notability apps for my reading heavy courses. They didn’t help as much for my major classes, which were math and physics focused. For my reading, I use goodreads and a spreadsheet. I got the original spreadsheet from Fadwa at WordWonders and modified it to fit my needs. Being able to visualize my reading habits in the form of pie charts and bar graphs really helps to keep me accountable when it comes to my reading goals.

I hear you talking about your organization's journey, and I couldn't relate more! Especially about being bisexual and thriving from chaos hahaha I also use Notion massively! I used to bullet journal, and I think this is the reason why I like Notion, I can kind of recreate my journal in it, and at the same time, it's ridiculously quicker to set up. I'm trying to transition from paper to digital, which is pretty fucking difficult. I get things done much more effectively when I jot them down. P.S.: Just loved the mug

I'm starting college in the spring and I don't know how I'll organize my reading in that time when this time is already so chaotic, but I've been keeping notes on what I read on my Word documents for the past two years and it's fun but definitely needs an upgrade but I haven't felt the need to do it yet as it still works and if I don't look at my goodreads, then it doesn't need to be fixed🤣🤣 I've actually been looking at a swordsmith account that I found last year at a ren faire so I can save up for a regular dagger or a Katana, there was an Elven Longsword too! 🗡

for college i’d highly recommend onenote if you want something simple and oriented towards the type of notes you take in college. i put all my readings in there as pdfs and take notes on there as well

I am currently using an excel sheet set up to track my time and how much time it takes me to complete activities. I am the same as you. I've been finding that a digital method of tracking organization works better than a physical one because the upkeeping it more than I want to do. As for my goodreads. I have never bothered about organizing my tbr list into categories until I joined youtube. With all the readathons, it has made it interesting to find things. My tbr list is LONG because I keep all the books I want to read as well as recommendations I have received on it.

I was such a disorganized student 😩 and for books I use goodreads mostly, even though I'd rather not give amazon my ad real estate monies, but I love that I can personalize the shelves so that I have 3 levels of to read piles, which differentiate what I have in my possession and what I'm not sure about but want to keep on my radar. I think I want to try out notion!

These were such great tips! I’m honestly not a super organized person but I love seeing people’s organizational routines 😄 I’m a mood reader so I usually have a tentative tbr that I’m not too strict on unless it’s an ARC or something for a book tour ☺️ I use a physical planner and a dry erase calendar that’s plastered on my wall to remind me of deadlines 🗡⚔️

I use an app called reading list to organize my reading. I can rate, write notes, and categorize all my books. My favorite feature is that it will tell me how many days it took to read, which always motivates me to finish the book quicker!

Yessss, I fully agree with a good spring cleaning. I usually unhaul 2 stars and lower automatically with 3 stars being the hardest to figure out. I like how you use Notion, I've been thinking on checking it out but have yet to make the jump. I organize my books with google spreadsheets, as the userability allows for easily customizable sheets.

I have a TBR basket and a lending library basket, they serve the same purpose as your IKEA Raskog cart. For fun, you might check out the Facebook group called “Pimp my Raskog” where people share photos of how they use there carts. It is amusing, and has over 30K members. I will check out the Notion app, I am retired and finally a full time student, so I am looking for ways to organize digitally. My digital desktop is just a mess. For my school i use a simple calendar on my wall, i usually annotate the tasks and subjects i have to study on each day (according to my disponibility and level of laziness 😂), i make sure it’s on pencil so i get to change if i want to. On pen, i write the deadlines of the tasks and tests. It’s been working really well for me, but im definitely gonna check out notion, i loved your recommendations!!

So at the moment I've got a full time job (40 hours a week), I'm studying an NVQ level 3 to progress in my career, and I'm a reader (who is just starting out on RU-vid). I feel like I basically only have weekends to get anything done bc I have to commute into London every day for work (about an hour or so each way). Currently I'm kind of struggling to get into a routine. Lol. :/

Really want to try out notion now. I use a bullet journal and at times also a physical calendar. But all my uni notes are gathered in one notebook and just colour coded after course, which is turning out quite messy 😅 🗡️

I just started using notion to organise my blog and RU-vid stuff and I love it so much 😭 I want to catalogue all my books and collect some data and initially I thought about just using a spreadsheet but now I'm really looking forward to using notion for literally everything 😂 Did you take the reading list template and modify it or did you make your page from scratch? 🤔
