Hey Dino, a little FYI, (10:45) "compostable bags" *are* compostable but if you just bury them in a hole somewhere they probably won't reach the temperatures required to break down completely. I was using those bags in my backyard composter (West Coast) and when it came time to 'turn it over' most of the bags were still there- AND the stuff that was inside them. (Our composter wasn't in full sun and we get so much rain and mild temperatures.) They are perfectly fine in commercial composting facilities though.
@CheaperJeeperTV
@CheaperJeeperTV 2 года назад
Hey Marcel, Thanks for the tip. Probably in the ground, those compostable bags would need more than a year or so to break down. Cheers.

Dino, I have the adapter to refill the 1 lb propane bottles. I refill from my 20 lb tank. It is safe but slow and doesn't refill them completely. I get between 1/2 lb and 3/4 lb depending on weather. Yes, weather. If I put my 1 lb tanks in the freezer for about 15 minutes and set my 20 lb tank upside down in the Arizona sun, I get closer to 3/4. It takes me about 5 minutes from hookup to refill and disconnect per 1 lb bottle. When I camp I usually use about two 1 lb bottles but I take along at least 4 if I am out several days. The 5 lb tank will rattle less and be a lot closer to 5 lbs than 5 of my refills. Thanks for the tip.

Nice organization ! Do you carry: 1st Aid Kit, Fire extinguisher, ax, saw, shovel,tools, bear spray, interiorwindow coverings ? - I always make sure Everything in my Jeep is Strapped down securely and not a possible Projectile in case of an Accident or heavy Braking, and when Hiway Driving having Visibility out all my sight lines. - You could drive w your Mattress set to the side, and mount a few Tiedowns to your Sleeping platform to strap down anything extra for Hiway driving ? ( but then your Platform is still Not stationary anyway.. ). Enjoy Lake Superior, it’s a beautiful area !! 🙏🌲🇨🇦🪶

How about a hitch mounted cargo rack? You can store propane and extra gas outside of the vehicle. Also a good place to transport garbage.
@CheaperJeeperTV
@CheaperJeeperTV 3 года назад
Hey Dan, I have one , and showed using it in the Camping Equipment Test video. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-3D8vVR1pQzs.html I am trying to pack without it, as I plan to go on an off road trip to the east coast, which will also involve overnight tays in hotels in certain cities, so I'm trying to not have any items attached to the outside of the Jeep. For single destination videos, like the annual ALGOMA trip, ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-zINr9lOK57A.html , the exterior cargo rack is a great option. Thanks. Cheers.

@@CheaperJeeperTV When camping, I use the Ozark Trail burner which attaches to the green Coleman propane bottles. I’m imagining a cast iron disc and some foldable/removable legs, with an attachment for the Ozark Trail burner. Other brands make very similar burners.
@CheaperJeeperTV
@CheaperJeeperTV 3 года назад
I guess the trick is finding an inexpensive disk on which one can attach legs easily. Cast iron is good. What metal are the Skottles made of?
@andreiburciu6623
@andreiburciu6623 3 года назад
@@CheaperJeeperTV I believe they are cast iron. If you prefer the 5-lb. propane tank, I’m sure there’s an adaptor available so you can use the hose.

@CheaperJeeperTV
@CheaperJeeperTV 2 года назад
Hey Savi, Thank you for the feedback on the videos. It’s very much appreciated. I purchased the high density foam from a place called The Foam Store in Kitchener, Ontario. 3” if the high density foam is perfectly comfortable. I even think that I might have been able to get away with 2”. Thanks for watching. Cheers
@markrigney4372
@markrigney4372 3 года назад
Tear all that out and get a deep sleep for Jeeps inflatable mattress. It’s custom fit for each model, you can get slip on bug protectors for the windows as well (=ventilation). Takes up no space and is light AF. Really good night’s sleep too, it’s thick!
@CheaperJeeperTV
@CheaperJeeperTV 3 года назад
Hey Mark, I considered them, but prefer foam over air mattresses. Also, the platform affords me way more storage. As for slip on vents, the ones I made give me ample ventilation, keep out the bugs and the louvres keep out the rain. And better still, as a DIY project they cost me little money. Cheers.

$9.00 for a 1lb bottle? I don't know where your buying yours but I've never paid nearly that much.
@CheaperJeeperTV
@CheaperJeeperTV 3 года назад
A typical non sale price for a single bottle in Canada is around $9.00 a bottle. For example … www.lowes.ca/product/propane-tanks-accessories/coleman-1-lb-disposable-propane-cylinder-98402 The point was it’ll be easier, more convenient, and cheaper going with the refillable 5kb bottle. Cheers.
