I agree with everything you said. Free is good but messers lecture is not in methodical order. And it’s a bit lecture-y. Mike Meyers, although I do speed the video up, he keeps you engaged. He even made submitting make sense for me. Dion, not fan of his lecture. Makes me sleepy but those PBQs are necessary. You mentioned CertMaster, I almost missed it coz I just call it totalsim. But super helpful.

Congratulations. I passed my Core 1 a few days ago and immediately started studying for Core 2. One thing I would say is that doing a bunch of practice tests and brain dumps are only going to help you so much. Most of what I've seen on various sites and channels did not reflect what was actually on the exam. The multiple choice questions were more difficult because there were hardly any answers that were obviously incorrect. More like choosing the best, fastest, easiest and least disruptive options. Make sure you can understand and explain the concepts you read about instead of regurgitating answers. I also used Mike Meyers Udemy course as my primary learning method and i can concur that it's very thorough.

One thing I would also recommend is to practice on real hardware. You don't need any fancy computer to learn. If you have an old computer laying around, use it to learn. If not, see if you have any friends or family that have an old PC they don't want anymore. It doesn't need to be new or even functional. Bonus points if you can figure out what's wrong with it and how to fix it. That's a really good way to solidify what you learned watching videos and putting into practice. That's how I got started with computers as a kid in the early 2000's. Most of the time, I had no idea what I was doing, but I thought was fascinating clicking different buttons and menus and opening stuff and seeing how it worked and then trying to put it back together in working order. Take apart the computer completely and look at all the hardware and put it back together again. You may not be building computers in a job on a regular basis, but it is good to know what the components of a computer are and what they look like. Take pictures or videos if you need to remember where things go.
@nanapoku5259
@nanapoku5259 10 месяцев назад
Great tips there! So you are essentially saying dismantling old laptop and trying to put them back together just to get familiar with how computer works.
@JJFlores197
@JJFlores197 10 месяцев назад
@@nanapoku5259 Pretty much, yes. Its like if you want to be a car mechanic. You can learn all the theory of how cars works. That's great. But you also need the hands-on experience to truly learn it.

I am studying for the A+ core one right now. I guess I am not as worried about know knowing something but Comptia tricking me with their trick questions. I just feel like trick questions are not necessary its like do you want me to know the stuff or play games with tricks. I have done a few practice exams online with the 25 questions for each topic and some of the questions, I counted, had like 10 possible answers and you have to pick how ever many apply. So much for the 4 to 5 multiple question answer days lol.

Is there anything else out there? Im not sure i want to work as help desk. Cause im sick of interacting with different types of customers. I over exhaust my patients with Picky customers . I'm going to put other certs on hold for a while and get into programming and scripting. I just created a new image deployment at my job with a much better and easier + more secure process. Have been using A.I. to help with scripting , I have taken courses on RU-vid to understand whats happening and I also know how to ask for help very well within powershell. Hoping I pass this test! I failed my Core 1 today. I feel like Professor Messer puts too much focus on ports and cables tbh. I know each test is different. My test was 70 questions and they asked me ONE question about ports. Like I studied and had all the stuff she is listing pretty much down pat. They pose the questions in a way that is either confusing or don't give you enough information to know exactly what it is they want from you. It could just be me, but my sister's boyfriend is going for his A+ as well and he said the same thing.
