Thanks for making this I’m 18 and I’m 3months pregnant and everyone is making me feel super bad for going through with my baby saying your bringing a baby in to poverty but I just can’t bring myself to abort
Omygosh thank you so much for choosing life for your baby!! You are already a mama and you are everything your baby will need. I believe in you - you are powerful and worthy and so is your sweet sweet baby 💗
When I was pregnant with my first baby I found almost everything we needed second hand. I got my breast pump free with insurance. I get almost all of my kids clothes at goodwill. They have kids clothes and toys for half price on Thursdays! Most onesies ended up being 0.50$ a piece and $1-$3 for most everything else! Deals are out there you just need to find them! Thank you for sharing your info for people looking to find baby items on a budget!
Also anyone struggling to prepare for a baby on a budget, someone gave me the advice “ babies don’t care about how much money you spend, babies only see how much love you give them” 😊
Isabella Ross - Vet Tech Mom yes!! I love deals! Buying everything new is such a waste of money! Babies don’t have to be as expensive as they’re made out to be! You just have to be smart and find the good deals ;)
@@shahakhan1239 I shopped a lot at thrift stores or consignment shops for clothing and toys. Garage sales were great for finding "gear" like pac and plays, bouncy chair, highchair, or even a crib. good luck hunting for those deals 😊
SO encouraging to hear your story! I am 19 years old and about 15 weeks pregnant with my first baby. My husband and I found out we were pregnant 3 months into our marriage, and money has been so so tight. I have been wrestling with self-doubt and anxiety over whether or not I can or SHOULD be having a baby right now in our current situation, but God has been good to us and we've managed to make it this far. I had no idea so many items could be found for free!!! Your video has given me hope and eased some of my anxiety in all of this, so thank you!!! Here's to brighter days!
We had the money to spend on all new baby items, but also had some older and wiser friends who told us not to waste it! We thrifted, borrowed and we're fortunate to get hand-me-downs. Babyhood goes by in a blink, no one should waste their money, instead, invest any spare pennies in your financial future.
I'm 25 now. I had my baby at 19, I remember the struggle. Thanks so much for posting this! So many people think its impossible, you just have to get creative :) congrats on your beautiful fam
Having a baby can be very challenging. You want to give your child the best things but it can be very hard. You did so well. Always here to support. 😊🌟
baby shower tip if you have extra time try to make individual list of items on invitations so you could put diapers, wipes, clothes or something and just say that those are just some ideas that’s what we did and it worked amazingly
Im not anywhere close to a teen mom (I'm 42! 😮😂) and 12.5 weeks pregnant with my first baby in 16 years. I went through a super-bitter divorce about 7 years ago and am still digging my way out of a very deep hole, financially - I'm not just broke, I'm busted! Lol! 😂😂 Things ARE getting much better, but we are still in debt, and things are tight. My current husband (5.5 years now) and I found out we are surprisingly expecting a few months ago (we were VERY responsible with contraception, and I thought I was approaching menopause, so it truly was a miracle surprise!) and we have NOTHING for a baby! I was really stressing about how we are going to manage all the necessities, so this video, although older, is very helpful! Best of luck to all expectant parents out there! ❤ we CAN do this! 😊
This was a very realistic, helpful, and encouraging video. I wish I would have had this when I was pregnant with my son, stressed about not having everything I thought we needed. Thanks for being relatable. 😊❤
I can totally relate, I was a teen mom myself, it was so tough, thank you for sharing this, I think you will touch and help a lot of women that is going this exact situation right now. Great job mama, I love this🤗
Lovely and helpful video! Thrifting is such a great way to buy affordable essentials, you find great items, barely worn or used at a fraction of the price! I've been getting more into thrifting lately.
That was a great price for your little ones crib! It does look like it’s in great condition! That’s so awesome! A dollar for a baby swing?? Whoa! Thanks for sharing!
Once I knew I wasn’t having anymore babies, I gave my crib and dressing cabinet to a friends younger sister. She wanted to pay me, I told her give it to someone in need, pay it forward. She was thrilled. Beautiful crib/furniture in excellent shape. My husband didn’t want strangers in the house so it worked out out for both of us.
the best deals ive found on clothes were the ones that would be in big trash bags on offer up marketplace etc because the sellers are really just trying to get rid of them sometimes you can even get a bag or box for free if you catch them fast enough
I had my 5 year old when I was 18 and it was hard buying everything but I learned early on to thrift and I used my resources to get free or cheap baby items . I’m 1 week away from having my second son and I’ve thrifted almost everything I found a $1,499 stroller at the thrift store for $12…just be sure to buy some things new ( car seat )
I’m glad I ran into your video. I’m 40 but things are really tight financially right now. I’m not working bc of a rough pregnancy, so we are having to rely just on my husband’s income.
Thankfully for me,, i got lots of newborn stuff from close friends and family so I don’t have to spend alot on my newborn and as a single mom,, I’m grateful
I was barely 17 when i had my first. I looked for bundles of baby things online from parents who were getting rid of everything at once. Back then i saw a crib with the mattress and bedding for $100 on craigslist but when i showed up the woman gave me 2 of everything(bouncers, swings, etc) that she had at her and her ex's houses so i actually got more than i needed for gear and got to pick between two which i liked better, then resold the extras and picked up tons of clothes and little things from garage sales for really cheap. Just wash everything up good and make sure there are no recalls or broken parts. With my second i was 30 and was given nearly everything i needed while pregnant without even asking because people just wanted to gift me things. Now expecting my 3rd and while i dont mind used things i am going more minimal so being more selective about what i get since ive got so much left from my second. And to all the other teen moms out there dont feel discouraged by people who push negativity on you, if they arent being helpful their being hurtful and you dont need to take that stress. You also dont need everything people claim, you just need what makes it easier for you.
Thank you. I completely appreciate this. I feel like I have hope again. I was starting to get discouraged because we can't afford many things. We're having a baby girl and Thankfully we kept our big items from our previous daughter (she's 6 yrs old now). But there are a few things we still need to buy. We also don't have much support in terms of family...so there's no one in our lives trying to help us either. Anyway, I appreciate your video.
Love this video, soooo helpful, for any new parent! Just don't forget the car seat and check safety and install before birth if you have a car or will he using cars. Please don't forget that super important item
Such a cute baby😍 i also wanted to thrift stuff but I didn’t know if it was safe ? So thank you !! Idk who needs to see this but progesterone cream helped with my unexplainable miscarriages! May God bless everyone ! 💙
You can also get free new bottles and a pump. Insurance usually will give a free pump but if you don’t have insurance, most WIC programs, or the health department can also help b/c depending on the pump it’s not a good idea to get used. As for bottles, set up a registry everywhere you can, and the free gift that comes with will give you a few different types of bottles for free! You don’t even need to always buy anything on the registry to get it.
Honestly I’m so happy you mentioned the dockatot. I’m pregnant and we are on a budget. I’ve been watching baby must have videos and in almost every video it’s mentioned and it drives me CRAZY! So I need an $80 pillow...? Uhh no. there are literally the SAME exact items selling for a fraction of that price. I found dupes on amazon that are about $20. Honestly when someone says “you need to buy a dockatot” I click out of the video lol. Come on 😑 Even if you’re not on a budget, that’s ludicrous!
Safety tips ! -> do not buy a secondhand car seat -> if you buy a secondhand crib, make sure it's not too old so it respects norms in terms of space between bars etc -> in same issue, please don't buy vintage cribs, etc, because even if they're really pretty they do not fit safety norms -> don't buy mattress secondhand -> don't buy bath toys secondhand Goodluck to everyone with ur babies ❤️❤️❤️ P.S : I forgot, don't buy secondhand shoes ! Babies shoes adapt to the baby's feet and may not fit ur baby if it's been worn already
Just an FYI some insurances give our free breast pumps or discounted ones. If you are pregnant def take the time out to speak to an insurance agent and ask what is covered and if you can get anything for free(they don't usually tell you unless you ask)!
The only think I didnt get thrifted, gifted, or hand me down was the carseat & technically I still got that from my baby shower even though I exchanged it for the one I wanted. It all got paid for cause I only had one store on my registry & that was Target. I was able to exchange a lot of what I was gifted & got better quality things. The only thing I really spent my own money on was the birth itself. It ended up being about 5 grand all together for the midwife group & birthing center after insurance. That was because I was picky about my birth & insisted on a water birth & it was absolutely worth the price. I wanted a home birth, but I would have lost the support of my family & since I was already a single mom I needed all the support I could get so I made the sacrifice to switch up my plan a bit & pay a bit more for my birth preference. All these things got me through the first year.
going to have my second baby. we got a lot of stuff passed down with our first baby. i didn't think i'd be able to have another - esp within 3 years. so I'm thrifting and planning to get a ton of stuff for low or on FB marketplace.
You are an awesome mom 👍 A lot of my friends bought new baby items and babies are not going to like all this baby items . My first baby love the swing my second baby hates his swing all babies are difficult .
Okay l had to watch this to see what you bought. I went to WALMART. Then Thrift Store. Still want the IKEA CRIB GULLIVER AND PRAM STROLLER which was sold out...baby bag l wanted a clear plastic backpack. Weird, l know, but cheap and easy to find stuff in it.
I have two kids, and now I am pregnant with baby no. 3 .my youngest is now 6 years old and the oldest is 8 years old . most of the baby stuff I used for my kids are not useful anymore cause I used them for both of my kids they have gone into a bad shape after 8 years . And now I have to buy new things for my third baby. But the issue is the same day I found out I was pregnant my husband lost his job 😩 and I stopped working cause we were planning for that baby and now we have no source of income with two kids and one baby on the way . The stress is eating me a life every day how we will go through this. As for the baby stuff, I took second-hand clothes from my sisters, but everything else, like carseat and stuff, I need them new . I am prying things will work out soon for us, hopefully
I’m just so scared bc I don’t see how I’ll be able to work enough to afford my baby and rent and all other bills. But still be home to take care of her
The tips are great, but you did receive alot of things for free as a gift and it is not available to everyone. So if you had to buy everything yourself without your family, that would be much more.,
Hey girl, I've just come across your channel and absolutely love this video- thank you for sharing your story with us, it will be so helpful for future mums! Would love for us to support each other xx
Biggest shout out to you mama, you're doing amazing! Message to all the young teen girls tho: please try and wait until marriage to have intercourse. At the very least, dont have babies until you're married. You never know what may happen in the boyfriend girlfriend relationship and you dont want to end up stuck paying for and raising a child All on your own. When you get pregnant, your single life is effectively over. Those kids come first. So if you dont want your single life/childhood ended at 14-19, be careful with how you treat one of your most valuable assets. Plus itll make it harder for you to find a husband in the future, because many men (that you actually want) will not take care of another man's baby. This is coming from a 20yr old who's seen this happen to many women all over the US and my family. Do what you want, but remember the consequences of all your actions ❤
