I recently suffered an injury at work with bad pain on my lower right groin area. Had a couple of doctor visits and an ultra sound appoinment and turns out I have inguinal hernia and have been outta work for a month now, I will be needing surgery soon they said today is my first consulation appointment with the surgeon. Im super nervous with this whole process. Thank you for this man 👍.

You're very welcome brother. I was bricking it, but that's actually an added benefit once you've went through with it. You will have faced down one of your fears & that has left me with an added gear of mental strength, new level achieved.

Thanks for relating your journey. Mine starts in a couple of weeks time. The surgery part of it doesn't worry me too much because I worked in the NHS for 30 years as a Bio Medical engineer, so I understand what goes on, whether that is a good thing or not I don't know. I am supposed to be retired, but I still work in the NHS from home on the admin side. I am getting it done privately and the consultant had a laugh over that when he found I was still working at the age of 75 and for the NHS. I'm the correct weight for my height and very fit and active, I usually walk about 5 to 8 miles per day and play table tennis, so hopefully my journey will also be easy. Thanks once again for posting your journey, I think it is going to help me a lot as well 👍 Best wishes from another Paul here.

@@Expresshonestly Just an update Paul, I had my surgery last Tuesday the 14th, it all went well apart from having to spend an extra night in the hospital because my waterworks wasn't working right, but they were prepared to let me go the next morning when it all went back to fire hydrant mode. It aches a bit but the pain is nowhere near as bad as I expected, in fact I've stopped taking the Paracetamol. They've supplied me with some Opioids in case the pain gets really bad, but I ain''t taking them otherwise I'll be spooking the cats by floating around the room 😄 to be honest I've got a fairly high pain threshold, I've had worst pain hitting my thumb with a hammer. All I can say to anyone having to have this done is don't be concerned. In the anaesthetic room I was chatting with the anaesthetist about the equipment because I used to work on it, the next thing I knew was back in the recovery room in what seemed like a fraction of a second, of course it was much longer than that, but it just felt like it, mine took about an hour from the anaesthetic room to the recovery room . The hospital staff were fantastic, they know you are nervous and they completely put you at ease.

I'm on my 6th week since the repair. Getting around almost as normal, mild pain here and there sometimes when bending over and twisting. Incisions seem ok all glue about off. Only issue I'm concerned with is the bulge still there sometimes.
@Expresshonestly
@Expresshonestly 5 месяцев назад
The bulge could be fluid that fills the gap where the hernia used to be, that's part of healing process. When The bulge is there put your hand on it & cough to feel if there is any outward movement.

Thanks for the reply. No movement so it appears I'm good. Keep up the great information. My surgeon recommended lunges a couple weeks ago for some exercise.

@Wesslic That's great news nate, no movement definitely means it's not coming from bulging internals. Yeah I've found lunges feel much safer than squatting for leg training, more variety too. All the best.

Hi sir, it's been one month since I had open inguinal hernia using mesh. I still have mild pain around the surgery area and mild pain in groin area. Is this normal?? Thank in advance!
@Expresshonestly

Yeah that's absolutely normal my friend, nothing to worry about. There's alot going on with the body when it comes to open repair, multiple layers of scar tissue all stretching & adhering, just takes time. All the best.

Hi bro I’ve had the same surgery 4 days ago So far the pain is very bad Hope you’re doing better Did you also have any swelling in the testicle and how long did it take to go away? How is the pain and when did you start going to work again?

Hi I would like to ask a question if you would like to tell me what is your opinion and how too change my opinion too. What if this mesh is not good for ours health and maybe it can be not good after few years?you break this thinking about this our you don’t think about?thanks for your response!best regards🤝🙏
@Expresshonestly

I does concern me that the mesh may cause health issues in the future,but my reasons for getting mesh repair are as follows.... In the UK they only offer mesh repair, so it was either mesh or no surgery. Hernia repair surgery without mesh has a very high recurrence rare & could mean further surgeries. I wanted to get back to being as athletic as possible while I'm still fairly young & mesh provides that extra strength in that area. All the best.

I had hernia in groin I had operation 1 week and I have very bad pain in testicles

This may be normal, I say may because every situation can be different,but a week is still very soon after surgery, so pain is common. Was your surgery open or laparoscopic?
