Anyone that truly watches you can *see* how much happier you are in LA. It’s almost palpable, so any hate being sent your way is ridiculous. Some folks enjoy being miserable and want others to be the same.

PR packages are an “employee benefit” of your job, you shouldn’t feel bad about sharing them. People have other employee benefits in their jobs that you don’t have in yours and they don’t feel bad about it.

From a lifelong Washingtonian, who now snowbirds in Palm Desert, this is the best of both worlds. I'm from Olympia, and in the spring, summer and part of fall there is nowhere more beautiful...but in the winter, the weather here in Palm Desert is beyond wonderful!!!!!

I like it when RU-vidrs show items they got for free, but it does help the audience understand the context when you tell us you didn’t pay for it. Update us if you are really impressed with something so we can use it as recommendations!

You’re so right about all the grocery stores being rip offs. Trader Joe’s is one of my favs and as you mentioned Winco is where I have to shop right now as I save so much money there. It’s ridiculous how much some items are so expensive and twice the price for no reason at Fred Meyer or Safeway. Grocery outlet also can help too.

It really is media trashing us that makes for the negative perceptions. A vast majority of the time, it's wonderful. I've lived here for 27 years and still get all teary eyed when that 80's Randy Newman song "I love LA" comes on the oldies station. Glad you're here. Have too much fun! It's a moral imperative. 💖

People stay hating on California, and at no point want to comment on where they live not being perfect. While it’s obviously not perfect, I have been fortunate and privileged enough to have lived all over the US in major cities (NYC, DC, Chicago, Seattle, SF, and LA). I’m very confident in saying California is the best state of them all. If I ever had to move, it would be to another country - we truly have it all here. Welcome back ❤❤

I’m from Chicago and I am going on my seventh year in SoCal. I live closer to San Diego but I am on the coast. I really enjoy being able to go out to the desert in the morning and then come back to watch the sunset at the beach. You really have to live here and experience life to understand why we love it so much. Shelby, you should do the Palm Springs tram and go up to Mount San Jacinto. I can’t wait to get there.

A lot of the hate for LA/ California (and NYC, Chicago, etc.) is mostly political. Your points about LA vs Seattle are on point in terms of cimate, crime and safety. No need to explain why you live in a place that is a better fit for you.

I think you are happier in CA although I think you would have liked NYC for a short stay. I do feel that long term rentals will make you more money in Palm Springs. You might see if there are travel nurses in the area as they typically will rent for 13-14 weeks which is kind of long term.

It's all perspective. I love MN but it's cold in the winter and the roads are bad. However, now my husband works from home except one day a month and I no longer work. It truly is perspective.

California is like a whole continent, with the different microclimates, several mega cities, breathtakingly beautiful nature, sunsets so gorgeous you almost want to cry, people from all over the world with so much talent and creativity, world-class events and concerts... what more could you ask for?? Are there problems? Yes. But I'll take the trade-off any day. The magic of this place WAAAAYYYY outweighs the negatives. And let's be honest, the homeless problem is a NATIONWIDE CRISIS! Yeah, they they talk about crime, they should look at the national statistics, California is actually right in the middle, not the lowest but certainly not the highest. Though they keep pointing to windows being broken in a specific area of San Francisco, which frankly doesn't represent the whole state. Then you have the homeless, which a large population of aren't even from California. Many homeless migrate to California because they can actually survive 365 days a year and not freeze or bake during winter or summer.

Winco is where it's at. So cheap and they have everything. Trader Joe's is like a boutique grocery store to me

As someone with a partner in law enforcement here in CA, car break ins are absolutely just as bad, if not worse. Hundreds of reports a day for our area. It’s easy to do when there aren’t legal consequences. I still love our state though!

Honestly hope more people change Air b&bs to permanent rentals. There is such a shortage of housing most places now, and air b&b doesn't help. I was looking for a rental in a central neighbourhood in my city a little while ago and there were like five apartments for rent in my price range, but were upward of 500 air b&b apartments in a small area. Made me so sad that it took that many potential rentals off the market.

When I went to Seattle it felt so much safer than San Francisco 😂 but yeah LA doesn’t feel half dangerous as SF.

I’m an east coast southern girl never wanted to visit California. Over there for marriage in 1987 and would never leave. I love California.

As a California native, it’s really hard to listen to comments like “there’s a reason they can charge the taxes that they do” I get that California is a describable location, but it is incredible hard to live here when you are not the upper class. I have a lot of friends who are basically being forced to leave because EVERYTHING has gotten so expensive. Having a good quality of life does not equate to sunny weather everyday and $20 smoothies.

Why not make an offer to Monica to buy her share of the RCR and you move in there? If Air BB isn't profitable, that would be the logical choice since most of it was designed to your taste anyway. What's the problem?

It's my impression that the latest Sony A7 is just better tech than the expensive niche cameras like Red. Aviation youtuber Matt Guthmiller has a Red and it completely fell apart in low light. Nowhere near what the prosumer Sony A7 could do. Version 5 just came out but I think version 4 is something like 2500$

Would be awesome to experience America one day. I have never been there. LA is definitely one of the places. I guess especially as Europe the contrast to how society works is very different between the US and Europe.

Long term rentals make sense for the california market right now. We just don't have the units available and people do not want to buy with these prices right now so as long as you don't want to vacation in it I think it's a good move. I guess NYC had it worse that's why they went so hard against Airbnb tons of owners there ended up switching long term units to short term rentals limited the long term rental market in a city that really needs the long term rentals.
