How I REBUILD CLACK WATER SOFTENER in 60 seconds!

Clack Water Softener not working? Rebuild using this rebuild kit waterestore.com/products/clac...
1) Bypass and click and hold Regen button to start regeneration to release the pressure inside the valve.
2) Disconnect drain line and catch excess water from drain line if any
3) Unplug and remove main frame
4) Unscrew the drive end cap assembly and pull out the pistons
5) Pull out the Spacer Stack
6) Clean out the valve with a clean rag
7) Replace the spacer stack, pistons and drive end cap assembly
8) Careful not to over tighten
9) Put valve together
10) Plug into circuit board to resync.
11) Open bypass valves and check for leaks.
12) Faceplate back on and press Regen!

Thank you for all the helpful information you provide! I noticed a small leak coming out of piston and wondering if just cleaning the seal pack will fix the leak? Where in your store I can find the seal pack, pistons and the tool to remove my old parts? Link?

I am replacing the stack seal and pistons. But you did not show how to remove the pistons from the drive.

Where do I buy the wrench 🔧? Is that the Stack kit? That’s what I need to replace because water constantly leaks

Great video! I installed a water softener identical to that one about a year and half ago in a new house. My brine tank slowly fills with water after a cycle. Meaning when the water softener goes back to softening, the brine tank slowly fills util the uper float is reached. Would replacing the spacer stack assembly fix my issue?

Typically the water softener should only fill until the fill cycle ends. Yours keeps filling even after the fill cycle ends?

@@GarytheWaterGuy correct. After the fill cycle is complete, the brine tank continues to fill, but at a slower rate.

Hey Gary you recommended the 10 gal uv system for me thank you! But I was wondering I live in a 1200sqft ranch I live alone and only have one bathroom do you think the 10gal is too large for my needs? I was thinking about the UVS MR180-TP2S/110 what do you think?

Either one will work. The smaller one is likely fine but the larger one has larger filters too so would need to replace the filters less often.

Do you know why the drive cap assembly would leak? Replaced seal pack/piston but the leak is coming from the white dial. Looks like there's an integral non serviceable seal?

Could just be worn out. You would need to replace the drive assembly

I appreciate all your videos! For the longest time I heard trickling after a regen sometimes for days later. Ended up needing a rebuild kit like your video. But I do have a question. I still think somethings off with my ws1. These are my settings. Do these sound right? Family of 4 (two are kids) 1st Back flush 8 min 2 down brine 2 60 min brine 3 backwash 8 min 4 5 min rinse 5 10.0 fill Auto On 0 Hard water is set to 21 as my local water is about 280ppm and added some for iron Clack 9x48 so set grains to 32,000 Also is it normal for water softener to be so loud? I can be across the street from my house and hear the softener during its regen. In my garage. Loud hissing during every phase.

Also I checked today and the water is over the salt even though the salt is almost halfway filled. I thought you aren’t supposed to see the water unless the salt tank gets pretty low

@@GarytheWaterGuy Thanks for the reply. I watched that video before and based my settings on that video. So I assume the settings are pretty close. I just finished cleaning my brine tank. The bottom has 4-5inch grate that basically had slush underneath it, in the little cubbies. When i finally got it out there was lots of brown at the bottom. I'm running a new regen now and during down flow brine of 60 min. about 20 minutes in the water level is about 10 inches up the tank. I only put 4-5 inches of salt back in so i could keep a eye on it. Is this normal that water goes over the salt level? also its draining as well as filling the tank up? that's normal? I haven't found a video yet that would describe what's happening. It would be nice to see a video of all the steps and video the water filling the brine and then sucking it back out( i assume since i still can't find the answers). I have already cleaned the injector which was slightly clogged but cleaned out with just blow of air, New down flow piston, new brine piston and spacer stack.

With 8 minutes left the water is probably 10-12 inches above the salt. 16 inches from the floor. Its gonna hit the float valve soon.

@@GarytheWaterGuy one of your other videos you say there is a slight trickle out the drain when its filling with salt brine? well my unit is draining super fast during fill. The noise/drain is the same loudness as when its backwashing/down brining, rinsing. Its all the same noise rushing down the drain line.

Love your videos!! Quick question: My water softener sounds like it's hissing. Today, I discovered that water is constantly moving through the unit bc my outside water meter is turning. Once I put the unit in bypass, it stopped. Would this video fix that problem?
