I guess I have a really curly beard. I have to straighten it once per week-- maybe 2-3 times depending on social functions-- and then slowly let it curl back over the course of a couple days. That way, eventually, it looks natural. Otherwise, beard balms, oils, blow drying, conditioner, whatever, my beard coils too much. I can't run my hands through it without noticeably pulling out tangles. It also feels less soft and more like iron.

Your beard, just after the shower, looks waaay, way better than mine. My hairs curl more and I can forget about combing it after washing - a comb goes through the beard very hard, pulls the hairs out and causes "bushy" effect. I can comb, but I have to be gentle with it, use oil BEFORE combing and comb only the front of my beard, can't go too deep with it (because it'll separate hairs and then I have 2 different beards). Then I use another comb with wide teeth (it's amazing) and last thing I do is shaping the beard with my hands. It looks thick, natural, without "sharp edges" and bushy effect. My moustache is different story - it's veeery wavy, especially ends, that even drying and using wax doesn't give the result I want. And I don't want to use super strong waxes - they make the moustache glued and it doesn't look good to me. I think it's like with wavy hairs on the head - they can be straighten, but then they'll look bushy, "dry" like a broom. Also, the wavy hairs can't be combed while dry unless a lotion or oil is on them (and they have to be combed only with a wide-teeth comb). Combing dry, wavy hairs will give bushy, broom-like effect. Isn't the same with the wavy/curly beard hairs?

I've only very recently started using a hairdryer in my regime. Wish I had started using one ages ago! Definitely one of your most important tools for a straight beard. Just need to buy my own now and stop using the Mrs'.

Results on a rather long beard after drying is quite noticeable/visible as opposed to a shorter beard like in this video..i don't blame him if ppl don't see much of a change before n after..its just the length

I'm grooming my beard about 6months, so I decided to clear it which is better clean shave or trim with 1 or zero.. which is good, clean shave or trim? Is any damage affect to beard when using trimmer?

I'm broke as a joke right now and can't afford the correct products. I do however use CANTU leave in hair conditioner. ive found that it does help make my beard softer and tames it a little. here is my question to anyone that wouldn't mind answering it. I've been growing my beard for 5 months. I've only trimmed it 2 times with a beard trimmer. and guys my beard seemed to really start filling in good the last month. so patience is the key. it just started sprouting new hairs like crazy. my question is I have a few long hairs that just won't lay down period. they grow all crazy. is it ok to just pluck or cut them with trimming scissors? I mean it's only a few so I don't care if the folicle is damaged. I wouldn't dare start to trim my whole beard with scissors. just cut or pluck a few that are sticking out 3 inches. appreciate it if someone could tell me. sorry for the long post. not everybody has an epic beard like this guys upload. or a beautiful head of hair like his to boot!! one last thing and I'll shut up. I've tried growing a beard so many times before and shaved it off thinking it would never come in. 5 months in like I said and it's amazing how it will eventually start growing if you have patience. this guy won the genetic lottery. Not fair. I could grow a beard but my mustache doesn't come out as full. Plus the beard hair comes out curly and coarse. I've tried every trick in the book to get my shit straight, but to no avail. I would do shameful, sick, unforgivable things to get a beard like his. FUCK!

embrace the curls and shape the beard with a trim. Then you can cut down on grooming. my beard is really curly and really wavy. The hairdryer technique works a tiny amount so I don't often bother. shower, dry, beard oil and wide tooth comb... done

I also thought he doesn't have curls but later i realized it's not "not curly beard", it just trimmed along the beard wave. I was just looking at blog of Carlos in Urbanbeardsman and i have exactly same kind of curls and mine beard was just 1-2 cm shorter than his beard in blog. Today i to trimmed 2 more cm because i thought there is sth wrong with me and how i care about and i was feeling insecure cuz it was looking like shit. Now to see he had exact same problem as me. But for sure it looks better now. i wish there was a way to tame beard waves without compromising length of it.
