I've seen Rare Carat videos on youtube and wondered how good they were. Glad I saw this video and now know to avoid them. Bonnie, the ring you made is stunning!
Hi Bonnie! I’ve been enjoying your videos. For me, the takeaways here are to get as educated as possible not just about diamonds but also about my own preferences. AND knowing where my knowledge ends and when to ask for help from a professional like you! I have purchased many online diamonds and other jewelry and learned so much. I’ve also recently fallen IN LOVE with brown-tinged white diamonds. I just bought an OEC GIA Y-Z I1 recently and -yes it sounds like junk -and yet it’s truly mesmerizing! I bought it from one of my favorite brick and mortar jewelers. I literally am spellbound by it. I adore super white diamonds and now it looks like I love brown-tinged white diamonds too! Who knew? Anyway as you say there is nothing wrong necessarily with a brown tinge as long as it’s disclosed and desired. Your point about the setting is key-the halo would have enhanced the brown tinge! we can all have different preferences overall and each day. I only like to wear one big bling at a time on my hands so I rotate my 5 ct emerald cut (let’s just say it’s a “winter white”), and my original OEC 1.2 ct J, and sometimes I wear the “champagne” OEC some days. I adore them all…I just love diamonds. Oh and I just finished my first GIA course Diamond Essentials…! Thanks again, keep them coming. -Jenny
I so agree with you on education about what you are buying. I consider jewelry an investment. I have worked with the same jeweler for over 30 years. You remind me so much of him with your honesty and education. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experiences!!!
It was Rare Carat lol. I went through it and the “gemologist” at Rare carat were absolutely useless. It was like pulling teeth trying to get to the point with my diamond. I really wanted a setting from you. If I could’ve gone back, I would’ve just purchased my stone and setting with you.
The setting and stone are stunning! But can you talk to us about your beautiful shade of lipstick and blush and eyeshadow combo?! Love this soft muted peach on you!
Hi dear! Glad you loved the ring ❤ Haha I was thinking about starting a separate channel to talk about my personal stuff. Make up, outfits, girl talk. What do you think?
My guess is Rare Carat or James Allen. I’ve spoken to online gemologists and they are not helpful. Luckily, I was able to connect with a jeweler/manufacture in Chicago. She was amazing. She sent me videos (in natural and studio lighting) of the stones and asked me about ratio, etc. Having someone to educate you on lifetime purchase is so valuable and worth it.
Bonnie! I love your videos! Not sure who the dealer could be? But! This video was so fun! Would love to see more tea spill Bonnie videos with lots of sparkle!
Hi dear ❤ Every diamond is unique in their own way. Do you love FANCY brown diamonds that are graded as brown? Or you love the brown overtone in white diamonds? Either way, as I said in the video, as long as it is disclosed all diamonds can be beautiful 🎉
I do too! Not everyone suits icy white. It’s just color. Some people look better in some colors than others. Jewelers are hard wired to see color as a defect.
Hi Bonnie! I love this video! I have some unrelated questions. Would you be able to give a very rough estimate to how much it costs to get peekaboo ruby, engraving, taper, and knife edge on a ring? I know it will be different for every ring but I’d really like to give my boyfriend the best estimate possible! No worries if you can’t say, just thought I’d ask
Hi dear, thank you! Unfortunately I can't answer this question it depends on so many factor. Please browse through my web page and fill out an inquiry form and we will try to get more details to help!
Hi dear! Sure. I would love to. Fluorescence is actually a natural phenomenon in natural diamonds. Around 35% of all earth natural diamonds have it. "Blue SFL" means Strong Blue Fluorescence. Now depending on the color of your diamond, typically Fluorescence can be desirable in nearcolorless or lower color range (as long as it doesn't make the stone milky). This is where curation comes into play! I have seen D-E color with medium blue fluorescence that sparkles AMAZING, or L color that has strong blue but milky. Want to know interesting thing? Fluorescence is one of the tools I use to separate natural and lab grown as well! In the end, having a professional check the diamond to see if the fluorescence affect the diamond is important. In most cases, fluorescence does not negatively affect the diamond and could give people big savings. I hope this helps 🎉❤
There is a video on youtube of an unboxing and the guy was so excited to open the ring box and when he did the diamond was lying next to the setting. It fell out in transit. I felt bad for the guy but I have to admit I LMAO.
Hi Bonnie, I know you don’t want to disclose the online diamond store. But here are some initials, can you confirm which store your client bought the diamond from? J.A., R.C., B.E., D.D. 😉
The ring you made is spectacular! The real story here is that you saved her BIG money and rescued her from a brown tinged ring. Yikes. I do not know the other company that was involved but I’d like to.
Thanks dear! I am glad you liked the ring. Every natural diamond is unique in their own way. I felt like as long as they had disclosed this to her, it would've been fine. Make it transparent, allowing her to come to her own conclusion whether she is ok with buying a near colorless diamond with brown or not. Well, she didn't know and they didn't tell her (imagine sending someone this much $ and be stuck after 10 days). 😅 Thanks for watching ❤

Neah, BN never crossed my mind as I and my family have had great experience with them, plus Bonnie said "middle man" not a retailer. My future son in law bought my daughter's ring from BN but went to one of their show rooms and sat with the gemologist but did a LOT of research for a year before ring shopping. He watched GIA webinars posted on youtube and read pretty much everything on their website so he was ready. He said he felt very comfortable with the gemologist and never questioned his knowledge. When I saw the ring after he proposed, it was stunning. Also a round diamond in a halo setting, not as big as the one in this video but just as beautiful.
