How I scored 140/160 on my DET | Top 10 tips & Tactics to score more on Duolingo English Test

Update: Three significant changes are going to be introduced for the Duolingo English Test from May 1st, 2023. A new task named 'Interactive Listening' will be added. Question type 'Listen and Select' will be removed. Lastly, 'Speaking Sample' would now on be graded.
In this video,I have tried to share some tips and tactics to help you maximize your DET score and secure excellent results.
00:56 - Never Guess
01:30 - Speak & Write as much as you can
03:06 - Focus on the Keywords
03:53 - Read More & More
04:40 - Avoid improving vocabulary in a rot learning way
05:50 - Write at least 3 sentences.Speculate!
06:57 - Practice speaking on at least 10-20 photos
before taking the test
07:46 - Answer each and every question
09:05 - Listen to the question carefully and stick
to the topic
10:35 - Relax yourself during the "Read & Complete" task
11:50 - Your accent does not matter

I too scored 140 with only practicing the Duolingo sample test. My tip is if you are already good with English, then just be calm and confident and take the test. It's not too tough, but it's fast and we should take care not to make silly mistakes due to carelessness.

140 is absolutely amazing, I scored 135 without any practice. If you are fairly good in English and love reading, then the test is really easy.

@@brownsage5514 I don't exactly recall all of it but the speaking questions were about living in 100 years ago and the latest challenging task I completed. And for the writing there was a question about the idiom "Slow and steady always win the race."

You have such a good score.... especially in the production section....I can't believe they are being so strict....I believe that you will get into any great University with that score...My main suggestion is to search for other universities too...Be flexible...and if you want admission in that particular University only,then prepare better this time by following Teacher Luke's each and every advice....It's more about preparing smarter for this test than harder

Hi again my friend I need your help. I want to score 140 and above, but sometimes on the det practice test I'm leaving the typing letter section empty and my estimated scores are between 120-145. During my real exam, do you think if I couldn't answer one or two subqs(In filling let. sec.) would it prevent me to get 140 score. During your exam is there any q types you left empty if any :) and lastly, how can I be good at it if you have other types, other than the video above thanks peace !

Hello.First of all,don't trust the practice test scores blindly.If you are leaving the typing letter section empty and still getting that high score,then there must be a problem. It is inaccurate.And no,even if you leave some section empty of the typing letter section in real exam,you still will be able to score 140 or even more.Even I wasn't able to answer that section perfectly.But since Duolingo test is adaptive,and also the typing letter section is asked anywhere between 3-6 times,your score will drop very low if you don't answer any of those questions.Also,I didn't leave any section empty because there is no negative marking system here,right mate?So please attempt all of the questions.And you can practice on Hedwig platform for that type. It will boost your score and you will be able to answer the type letters section well.Please reply if you still have any doubts.

hello buddy, cheers from Chile. i have a question, you might be able to help me, im trying to do the DET but my camera is giving me problems, and the problems ithat is laggy or it is having a delay, the real problem comes with the fact that jsut with the DET app my camera has this problem, my upload speed is about 900 mb/ps. best regards!

I got 125 overall without practicing, I just took 2 practice test and wrote.I also got 125 in production only my literacy score went low to 115. Be confident its really easy go ahead😊.

Hello.. i came to know that there is negavtive marking if we selecting wrong english words.. like there are two tupes of questions thhat are READ AND SELECT, and LISTEN AND SELET, SO in these types of questions if we select select worng english word then will it mark as negative??, is is correct information please help me out..
