Great video! Do you have any tips for creating those strokes with a mouse and keyboard? Unfortunately I don't have a wacom and I can't change brush pressure mid stroke like you can...

Hi Jacob!! Loving your videos!! Would love to see the process from Dynamesh to retopology. Did you use Zremesh or manually retopology it and then project the high poly details? Im still learning, so would be amazing to clarify that process from a sculpt in Dynamesh and taking it to Substance Painter.

Hey carlos! thanks and I have been getting this request a lot so my next video is going to be on my process for high to low poly and all that stuff :D stay tuned!

hi jacob i have a question, HOW THE HELL DO U MAKE THOSE LINES SO GOOD, i myself have a pen display but when i try achieve the same wood lines as you do it just looks rly bad and im not getting wavy sharp lines, can u help :(
@StylizedSchools
@StylizedSchools 10 месяцев назад
Hey, thanks for the comment. Are you perhaps not activating lazy mouse from the stroke menu in zbrush? Beyond that and what I show in the video I'm not sure how to help :D slow smooth strokes with lazy mouse activated and applying pressure then easing off the pen throughout the stroke to get width variation is all I do for it. It did take some practice to get them to be less wobbly at the start

thx for the reply, i actually dont use zbrush i use blender but blender also has the lazy mouse mode so ill try, thx :D@@StylizedSchools

What Settings do you use to make the engraving intensity vary when carving lines with the orb brush?
@StylizedSchools
@StylizedSchools Год назад
Hey, I'm using a graphics tablet to sculpt so I am just alternating the pressure I'm applying with the stylus pen to get varying intensity.

what kind of graphics tablet? @@StylizedSchools

@@ykach3 I just use a cheap Huion tablet I got for about 80 euro 5-6 years ago. Does the job. I believe its the "1060 plus"

Hey there Jacob, I,m trying to make a ladder using this technique for my planks, i have 7 planks on there + 2 support planks and I have a total of 11.4 million points. My question is: is this too many or is it fine? I subdivided 8 times because otherwise my brushstrokes were pixelated. Is there a rule on how many points is too much or is this ok? If there is, how could i reduce those without losing quality?
@StylizedSchools
@StylizedSchools 7 месяцев назад
Hey Jens, so for sculpting you can use as many as you need, but instead of subdivisions you might be able to lower the points using the dynamesh feature when sculpting. This will just help with performance if you are lagging while sculpting and maintain quality. If you want to take this in to substance painter or texture it/use it in any way after though, look into retopology, uv unwrapping and baking. I would estimate a count of around 500-1000 tris if not less depending on the complexity of the ladder for the final mesh.

Where did you find those Pinterest wood patterns? It would be cool if you sourced them, other than that a very cool vid

Thanks! It's actually an original image I created for an article I wrote for gameartists.co.uk. The pinterest button is just a pinterest quick save plugin I added to my browser. You can find the article here: gamesartist.co.uk/stylized-wagon/
