I set gain by playing music at the level I listen too which is usually about volume half way up on the deck and dial down on the amp gain until the amp isn't clipping on every long bass hit. Not scientific but works for a 1000 watt system. My gain is currently at 5 out of 11 on a fosgate prime 1200.1
@@Jayty676 glad I could be of warning lol. It was an ok video, dude has some knowledge and is slightly entertaining to listen to, however I was trying to see how he tuned the amp cuz the video title leads you to believe that at some point the amp tuning would be included.... Maybe in the next one?
I just bought a new big boss 3k. It's a powerhouse. Compared to my skar skv2 1500 and some other brands, there is no comparison. The bass it makes almost sounds like an ab class amp. It pulls the good bass out ive been missing for years. I love mine. They have bass knobs done right too. I have the one with the clip light built in. It's responsive the whole way through the knob. I'll never buy anything else after running the big boss amps, they are what I've been looking for and the bass I been missing since the 90s. It's that soft low dig in your chest bass I couldn't get from other amps. That's my experience with Taramps anyway.
I clamped my big boss 3k at just under 12,000 watts today on a 1 ohm load... Fucking monster doesn't even begin to describe it .. I thought my clamp meter was broke so I borrowed a friend's and got almost identical numbers. Crazy
The full bridge amps (taramps) are not power hungry they are actually more efficient than half bridge amp. The real explanation is it takes power to make power. 🔊 🔊 🔊
I don’t think he talkin about efficiency cause there pretty good in efficient but I think I saying it’s gonna take a lot of power alts batts to run the md 5k by being power hungry?
I have the same amp and a 400amp alternator. Still dropping volts. Going to add a 2nd battery. You're not lying about being hard to tune. That's why I'm here
Your bass boost looks about 2/4 of the way up, is it all the way down? I know you said it was, just curious, I have that same amp but 1Ohm, with DSP, and my boost is up just a little about 1 tick mark. and it's slamming.
Thanks for taking the time to show this. I've been looking for someone who has tested the md series for bass with prv dsp and everything. My md 8k is very hard punches but not smooth at all. What you suggest I do? My sub gets smelly fast. Amp not clipping or anything either. Just very hard punchy choppy bass. Do I need a dsp?
I have the ORION HCCA3000.1DSPLX For 3 years this amp did over 13,000 watts on 1/2 ohm on the Dyno. I ran it on 1/2 ohm for a year no problem on Skat ZVX 12 inc, I am running it on 2 ohm for now cause I got the wrong ohm subwoofer. I might order the 4 ohm so i can go down to 1 ohm.
I just put a Taramps MD 12000.1 1ohm on my 2 deaf bounce SA305 15's and let me tell you what goin from a 4k capable amp to a 12k capable amp is a big difference now im actually putting the power my subs want to them but its wired at 2ohm so im more or less sending about 4 to 5 k at them now
Actually there very simple to setup, with a cc1 for the crossover and use -5db 40hz test tone, to set gains, But there's also a simpler way by turning off crossover on the amp and using crossover on the deck and just set gains, 5 min job, doesnt take alot
Blow a capacitor and boom korean board time. [half bridge] more taramps 😅. Pull over 400 amps on accident & fry all your electrical if its not done right 😥. Also sundown quality is pretty comparable with skar once you get into the 3in coil subs.
I sent the gain 1/3 to 1/2 the lows jumped out the box just lowed bass gain from head unit low pass all the way up and high pass all the way to left or down postin and adjusted low pass for head unit down 70hrts 12 dB slope watch barbies video!!!!!
Im going to agree with the first comment i have two jp23 amplifiers and they pull way more current than my bass 8k taramps i have a 150 stock alternator on my kia soul 2021kia because it has a smart charging system but I have over 450 ah of battery reserves at full tilt it might get down 13.5 volts but it is for daily use i barely have the volume up
So I have a taramps 5k and I have an issue where it’s super loud and plays good for a few min then protect its not hot nothing. Now I have 0 all that way back from front battery to back xs power 5100 then 0 into amp I have a fuse inbetween all 0g grounds etc now stock electrical subs are dual 4 ohm bridged and stock head unit with a line converter. But the smart 5k plays really good and loud and then boom protect
Bro you didn't say what the rca voltage is you used for the amp, new guys wont know what to set it too. Love the videos man, keep up the good work and keep them coming
i have the same amp and when i try to set it by ear i never get even close to what id expect out of it and i have had other similar sized setups to compare to. i hqve started by turning my rca signal down from 10 (max) to 4 on the kenwood head unit so i dont think its that and my electrical is pretty good besides a cap that im removing as its not needed. i only have one 100 ah battery though my volts never go below 13 so is I t still that do you think? i have 100ah of lithium going in atm and every thing is dual 0AWG so is that just the limits of this amp or am i missing something? thanks
Bro I have a practically brand new ds 18 hooligan ko. It’s a bad ass Korean s&i built same board as dd audio m series 5k. I ran before I got my Powerus 10k . I’m curious how it would do against the taramps md 5k? I know the Koreans boards go down to .5 but I’m loving my Powerus 10k have you heard of Powerus amps?
I have a factory head unit with 2.5 volt line outputs and a 5 volt active crossover my volume goes up to 45 at 38 it acts funny clipping voltage drop so I set everything at 35 and leave it alone no problems
I have that 3000 watts one with two 10 inch alpine type r dvc 2 ohm 750 rms max each. My shit sounds looooovely. Did it with the multimeter though to get the proper gain. Did the whole math and uses a 50 hz test tone to do so.
should i have decent lows and highs if my high and low pass are all the way down? i’m not sure if turning my high pass up messed with my lows when i had to fix my speakers
If I was you man get you a Bass knob and set your gain by doing a 40hz test tone -5db at the max click on your radio before your radio starts clipping. Just set your bass knob at max and turn the gain up untill it slightly clips at the mac radio volume, then turn it down just a hair, and when you demo just demo a couple clicks down before your max and only do that for competitions. It'll save you time and shouldn't clip unless you are dropping voltage like crazy. Just some advice to help you man! I follow you on Instagram hmu if you need any help!
@@Chris-B-Bassin that's the way for the best results! You definitely don't want to be moving your gain up and down all the time. Just once a be done with it.
Taramp rate their amp at max rms. Sundown under rate their products. Taramp md is for mid bass and mids, the bass line and the smart line are better for low bass
Is the 5 k smart better and my radio is 4.5 volts rca can I just go-to bass setting in radio and lower bass sub to like minus 10 or15 and turn gain up on tar 5 smart
This is exactly what you do. But you use a multimeter on the rca to read the output voltage while you're turning the sub level down so you can dial it in to the right voltage. .9 to 1.2v is perfect for Taramps.
you have a full range taramps which at lower frequencies actually lowers the voltage to your subs, the lower you go in the band, the lower the voltage gets. And it only goes to 10khz which is weak for a tweeter. The full range is bad at everything. If you get a BASS model, it will actually raise the voltage in the lower end of the band and you will get more bass for the money. That's why you never will be happy with that setup (bass wise) and go to the extreme low and high power bass notes. change it out for a bass monoblock and you will see i promise.(there is a vid about it with testing of taramps) And that beard has to go =) cheers vato
If you are trying to run a 5000 w amplifier on a stock alternator, you know nothing about putting stereo system in. It doesn't matter if you have 10 batteries, it does no good without the amperage coming from the alternator! Does it help? Well yes. But you should have changed the alternator first. Good luck!
On these full range amps yes the power drops off a bit so that's basically just to keep the power even they actually specify what hz they boots too not just totally random
Dude you are blind leading the blind, put your hands down Ricky Bobby, and do more research before you do these videos, your ring about most of what your saying.
