Love that you acknowledge privilege - even though in this case you earned it yourself so it cant really be called that but i just like the way you think with a certain (unfortunately quite rare) humility & objectivity. Great attributes for a writer btw!
Acknowledging is nothing more than taking it without giving back Maybe offer the benefits of privilege to those without it or you’re simply glorifying inequality
I met Maya Amgelou when I was 16 through my high school English teacher who acted with her. I was working on my novel. She read some of it. She told me that she loved my story and that I should finish writing it. I set it aside all of these years. I'm ready to write it now. There's many books to the story with many emotions and chapters.
I got my agent more or less the same way so that definitely happens. A good friend, also a dog trainer/author, and I wanted to collab on a book. We just finished our forth!
Keep writing on your own web page or other sites that allow you to write. Try to write for magazines and papers. Go to networking writing events. Maybe teach others to write.
