Once a year I take a sole trip (my wife is not into Overlanding) from NC to UT, CO, AZ, ...etc. with the same setup but using the 60% side. I have a twin mattress and a electrowarmth twin heated pad (for when it gets cold, highly recommended) on top that fits perfect on that side and my ICECO 35 sits on the right side along with the100-Ah battle born battery setup. I never have to worry about setup, rain, wind or cold. It is perfect for me.

That sounds about perfect. Using the 60 split to sleep would definitely be nice. Much roomier. My drawer system limits me since the fridge slide is on the 60 split side unfortunately

You answered ALL the questions I had after watching the first video you posted at this location! Having had a rig with a similar drawer set-up, I was thinking "He must not be a tall guy because he must have slept in the back seat" NOPE, 6'2" ain't small lol. The next was "you gotta crack a window" check-answered! Thanks for the update. Great truck, great set-up for sure @wheretonextoverland

For camping alone, this setup is a must. Awesome! Nothing beats a 100 series.

Yup! Like what you’ve done. Same goal here in my LX570, 4WD anywhere micro RV for 2-7 day adventures. Did same thing with desk/table setup in 2nd row single seat. For solo trip I replace front passenger with plywood platform… battery bank & inverter underneath, fridge/freezer strapped on top. Top of fridge top below window/mirror height so no visibility issues. Full length bed always ready to climb into 😊, no setup.

That sounds perfect. It's such a great solo setup that flies totally under the radar. Less setup than even the fastest deploying rooftop tent? I'm loving it!

Love the living room! That little tray table looks like a good solution, when we took a month long trip back in 2021 we were working on the tailgate but it was terrible. I’ve been trying to figure out how to incorporate a fridge into our setup, with two sleeping in the back and the floor space not being terrible wide, it’s hard to find a permanent place for one to go.
@WheretoNextOverland

Yeah, the fridge is pretty much the main 'obstacle' that prevents Christine and I from sleeping in the truck. Maybe a rear sear delete would give the space needed?

@@WheretoNextOverland definitely considered it, but I’m not even sure I could find a fridge that would be low enough to work with the height of our drawers. I have considered the drawer fridge from dometic, but its a little too much work for the little amount of space

The tire table finally makes an appearance! Sleeping in the truck is Connilee’s dream

It's AWESOME for 1 person .... don't think I'd like it very much with 2 people. It took me a solid year to come around on the tire table .... but now I love it. Off the cut-list! 🤣

Just curious you do so many trips off the grid, how come you haven't bought a front bumper and winch yet? We have the same setup, im on the fence, just curious why you havent yet. Also what mattress is that?
@WheretoNextOverland
@WheretoNextOverland 9 месяцев назад
Fair question. A lot of my reasoning for no bumper & no winch has to do with weight. I'm always hesitant to add weight to our LX due to the AHC hydraulic suspension. I love it and don't want to swap it out, but don't want to push it beyond its limits (FWIW people DO run AHC with bumpers / winches / full armor so its not like it CANT handle it). The other factor is that I just don't feel a bumper / winch is a necessity for our use-case (though it would be an excellent luxury). When traveling solo, we are typically very conservative with what obstacles we will attempt, understanding that no other vehicle can pull us out and we cannot pull ourselves out. If attempting rougher roads / trails, we are always sure to have another vehicle with us (probably the single best recovery tool). That said, the more solo trips we do, the more I think about adding a winch. I'm certainly not anti-winch by any stretch....and I sorta suspect it's one of those things where I'll say I don't need it .... until I do .... and I'll be cursing at myself ... then I'll go home and buy a winch and bumper 🤣

@WheretoNextOverland great answer buddy. Pretty much a lot of that is the reason why I haven't done it, but I decided to do it today after this artic blast we had here in Oregon. I deleted the AHC when I purchased the car, it wasnt working when i purchased it and do I miss how smooth it drives. Love your video's bro, I'm going to subscribe after such a great answer to my question.

@@LuanNguyen-rj1bt Thanks man! Oh, as for the sleeping pad ... it's an REI inflatable backpacking pad. Can't recall the specific model and I don't have it with me here unfortunately. Cheers!

Yeah, I went to Harbor freight, bought a winch and hitch mounting bracket, got it all put together so I could haul it around inside my LX570 when I go on an off-road adventure. If I get stuck somewhere, I can pull it out, slap in my rear hitch receiver, and pull myself out. Maybe one of these days I will actually bring it with me. Maybe…much bigger hassle than I thought.

Yes. I was awaiting a detailed description of the stocking cap you’re wearing. In cold conditions it is said that you lose a potential 40-45% of your body heat through an exposed cranium. Arguably this would be a key factor in your survival . . . I mean minus the Land Cruiser & -25 sleeping bag. Just saying 😮😢😂😊😅. Good breakdown boss. Great content love it!!
@WheretoNextOverland
@WheretoNextOverland 9 месяцев назад
Great points! And considering your cranium is EXTRA exposed, it might be more like 75% for you. 😂
