Don't worry about your judgement when it comes to what they take over the years! I truly think that it is just the individual that day looking through the items and another thing I have been told is that they "already have one of such and such so they just can't take an identical item." I think you're doing great with what and how you bring items in!

It would be interesting if you kept say 5things they passed n one week and sprinkle them through a new bag load to see if they passed again . I think it depends who serves sometimes lol

I can totally do that! And I agree 💯 the person's personal style and what the store is in demand of come into play in a big way. I always make sure to chat up the employees working there and be as friendly as I can. Dosent hurt to butter them up, does it? Lol 🧈 😅✨️ thank you so much for watching and leaving a comment!

My Plato’s usually pay $2 or less per item that I have taken to them. When I asked for an itemized receipt they said we can’t do that but we can give you a receipt that shows what we took. So it definitely feels like they are hiding what they pay for the items. Which makes no sense to me. If you list the prices then people will bring you those items and since you are paying higher for certain items they must be fast sellers so in reality they are cheating themselves by keeping the prices secret From us.

I know the payout they give is so low . Has to be worth for your business model. For some it makes sense. For me I like online mostly for now and buy sell trade stores like 2 times per month to unload old items

I feel you 💯 because it makes sense to me too that you would want folks to know what your wanting to buy and how much your willing to pay - like you said - people would bring those things in! I'm still confused as to why some locations do/don't give itemized receipts. I'm still going to chat with the owner of my locations next time I see her. See if I can gain any insider knowledge and maybe even tell her about my YT and this series 🤷‍♀️😅🙃 thanks so much for watching as per usual!!!

Wow, you find some amazing things to take to Plato’s. I would be listing some of that online. 😅 but I know it takes time to list . If it’s worth it I list it first . Then take to bsts after 30 days or so if it’s not selling 😅

I totally get that and every person is different. Some need the cash fast so if it works for you do it . I would list these things first probably…. Y2K men’s diesel, jeans, obey shirt, nwt vans shirt, H&M sweater, shades, floral cargo pants, and princess Polly dresses to name a few. 😅

We dooooo! They just opened this past summer. Unfortunately I think because of that, they were buying any and everything for a few months. I made over $400 a trip, taking them 2 ikea bags full, but that has quickly come to an end, and I think they are having trouble selling anything. 😬 I even consigned one of my LV bags with them. But, haven't been in a few months. Should I do a video on them like platos? Might not be as exciting tho.. What do you think?

❤ yes I love Uptown as well !! A vid would be great 🎉 just know that every store and city is different. What is working for you may not work for me . Take it all with a grain of salt. Right lol I do wonder who pays out more for the same item 😅

I think the retail pricing is the price they will mark the item at. I am 99% sure they give 30% of what they mark the item at so that makes sense to me. I wonder if Plato’s is being more selective, I know December Is my favourite month to thrift because the thrift store is not as busy I would look up the style of the men’s desiel jeans and sell them yourself.

I went to buffalo exchange the week of thanksgiving and they said they are careful what they buy this time of year because abuse sales slow down. Maybe that’s the same for Plato’s

plato's has never given me a receipt. I've stopped asking, I find it weird though. I do think they are saying retail for their store. I always go to Clothes Mentor because they take more and I get more money & I get an itemized receipt.

That is the strangest thing ever.. what business isn't ok with giving a customer a receipt for their transaction? Have you been allowed/offered to take a photo of the computer screen before? Our local clothes mentor closed after covid. the closest one to me is approx 1.5hrs away and they have a cash limit of like $100 for the day 🫥. I'm so glad you have luck there, that they pay more, and offer a receipt for your transaction!

I LOVE that bomber jacket!!! That blue sweater would be really cute on you. That is so bizarre that they did that about the receipt. It will be interesting to see what they do the next time. I'm so glad the other location bought so many items from you!

My store specifically won't take summer stuff during cooler weather so maybe the short dresses and shorts would be more accepted in the spring? Im not saying hold them till then of course, just trying to make sense of it all.

I think you should bring the itemized receipt with you to show them each time, to whichever store you go to, and just say, “Can I have this kind of receipt, please? I need it to do my taxes…”. I think they probably have a revolving door of not-so-bright, don’t give a shoot, youngsters who are poorly trained. You would think, since the two Plato’s are owned by the same person, that there would be uniformity in how they do things! Maybe drop an anonymous note to the owner?

That's a fabulous idea! Totally keeping an old receipt in my car for next time. And it's so strange to me too, that she has 2 stores just a few miles apart, and they are so different in that way... 🤷‍♀️

Of course! I didn't do it like that because I was afraid it could possibly take multiple hours depending on how busy they were. and I didn't want to commit a full day to possibly only making very little $ at Plato's. Tried to get the most $$ for my time!
