@@rightnearthebeach well its going and im growing right out of the bag and learning along the way, patience is key but we all know nobody is gonna stay away from there new hobby.
Thank you teacher, I just added my grain spawn to substrate and I'm excited to see my children grow. I would never gotten this far without you and 90 second mycology 🍄❤
been researching this specific part of cultivation for about a week now and this is the most informative, helpful, handson-learner-friendly video and channel ive found yet! thankyou pgt!!!!
Just wanted to thank you for everything pgt. With me being a noob to this stuff I've learned a lot and gone a long way with your help. BEST CULTIVATION TEACHER OUT THERE!!!!
Thank you, my Golden Teacher! I'm your newest subscriber. I am preparing to embark on my first attempt at Myco-culture, and your videos are the best, most comprehensive tutorials I've found. Thank you so much for sharing your wisdom and experience. Be safe, be well, and prosper!
Awesome!! I watched many videos awhile ago. I'm about to start to grow. All I needed was to watch these 3 videos. Coir Substrate, canning brown rice, and transfer. Good summary!
@@adamellis5513 I started my first shoebox with this video and other creator’s info like 90 sec mycology, mycophilia etc. And I had successful harvest. Only thing I could’ve done better is the depth of the coco coir. If you want higher yield make the “cake” atleast 3 to 4 inches. Mine was barely an inch and it gave me beautiful fruiting bodies but only about 8 grams dry weight. Which isn’t bad for a first harvest but beside that it’s gonna be hard to get a second harvest out of that cake. I’m gonna try dunking to see if I can get a second flush
Thanks for your videos teacher !! Your the only one that clearly explains how it works and showing the actual way how to do it , unless other channels . Keep up the good work man thanks a lot 💪🏻
Definitely the best mushroom cultivation channel, you keep it simple, no drills, no thermohygrometer, etc. It´s really helpful to learn how to grow shrooms with the less possible materials to keep it quick and affordable. what do you moisturize your substrate with? Must the moisture liquid be sterilized?
The great thing about your videos is that, without seeming to, everything you say is important and covers almost every detail of the subject matter. Really, hats off to you! 👍
Sending positive vibrations towards you good sir! Just needed to let you know that you content is great for newbs like me, and makes mushroom cultivation a lot less intimidating. More life to you!!
this hobby has evolved so much and the community online is just amazing...I have learned so much about not only mycology but all things in life...I am forever indebted to places like the Shroomery and Mycotopia
I'm not sure wtf is wrong with you but I love it and don't ever change. Thank you ever so much for the time and energy you put towards this. Learned so much. More than weeks/months of reading and studying, both of which are still important, sure sure.
Thank you so much. It means a lot to me! I'm glad you have found these videos helpful for you! I wouldn't be able to do this without you and this amazing community! 😊
You are an amazing teacher! I have watched a ton of videos on how to grow mushrooms, and using your technique my VERY FIRST grow is coming in GREAT! I am going to attempt using your methods for some gourmet mushrooms as well seeing how well it works. I am totally amazed not only at how my grow is going, but how well you teach... not only by telling, but showing without becoming totally boring...lol. I am hard to teach unless my interest is kept and you did just that! Thanks to you, I found a new "hobby". You're awesome🤘✌❤
I am new to mycology and if it weren't for your video's I'd be completely lost. I've watched them all, and am watching this one again because my spawn is almost ready to move to substrate. I started my coir tonight :) I knocked up 3 different grain bags, but only 1 spawned but I'm so excited to start this next step and cant wait to enjoy the fruits of my labor! I hope my flushes look as amazing as yours! Thank you Philly Teacher.
I inoculated a bag a while it go it never colonized .i tried it again a few days with a new syringe different species different supplier and it is now colonizing 💪🏾 maybe you can still use those two
Just got done doing this using these videos. Ill have to say, i was nervous about the substrate recipe that PGT has directions for. I thought it might come out too dry but it came out absolutely perfect. I used the CVG recipe. My jars were snow white and so healthy too. The room I put grain spawn to substrate in still smells of mushrooms 2 hours later. I used brown rice from these videos but also pressure cooked the rice jars. Came out perfect as well. Just hoping the rest of the process goes as well as it has so far. For anyone wanting to try their hand at mycology, I highly recommend using these videos step by step because so far i have had exceptional beginners luck to this point. Im not gonna lie though. Im very nervous about the next couple weeks because I've invested a couple months into researching how all this mycology stuff works and also a lot of time as well. I dont want to fail because it is a game of patience and it does take more time by far then I want to actually wait. Its very hard to have the patience so you definitely want it to have success because starting over would be a real bummer. Taking the steps to be extremely clean through the whole process is really a pain and very time consuming but it is an absolute must. Cant wait to clone, do agar and eventually liquid culture. PGT's videos have to be some of the best to learn from if not the best period. There are some other channels that i do like but i always reference back to PGT vidoes to make my final decisions and choices.
You Philly have just given new found confidence to push through with my first grow. I've been growing 6 - 8ft outdoor cannabis trees a while now which takealot of work when you're a one man army. I'm sure I can handle mushroom about now.
thank you. this looks like the simplest way to do this. i found a ton of vids that compicates things with holes and crap. thanks, im going to use this method
No matter how many times I watch your videos, I'm impressed by the quality! Video quality is great. Your commentary is direct and informative and to the point! You could give lessons on how to make a great how-to video!
Thank you so very much. I'm glad you find the videos to be quality and informative! I thank you for being here a part of our journey together, I wouldn't be able to do this without all of you amazing people in this wonderful community! 🙏🍄
@@matthewkelly2695 Did.... but ended up buying pre-made substrate (just because the process seemed complicated enough for first time) described here --- I can recommend this but of course costs more: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-5PgYYtz5mqE.html
Simple! I just found your channel and wow you and Home Mycology are my to go Mycology Channels. Thank you for the amazing content! Thank you Teacher for sharing this knowledge with us
@@PhillyGoldenTeacher this is probably a dumb question but do you actually need substrate because I’ve seen people just like put the Grain spawn that’s in the shape of the jar that it was in into a box in the mushrooms grow on it what is that called
@@kittenvibe7599 no. You can do cakes. So when you inoculate in a jar or bag and its coated in mycelium then you can just take the whole cake out, put it in a tub with some perlite and keep the humidity up n all that good stuff n mushrooms will grow
Philly…Thanx so much for everything you do on ur channel. You have educated me and I’m sure countless more on the how to’s of this journey. Thank You ☮️☮️☮️
Thank you as well! I wouldn't be able to do this without all of the support of everyone here in this wonderful community! I look forward to our journey together! 😁🍄
Thanks man...have had two successful small jar harvests and am currently incubating my first attempt inoculating grain bags...Could not find vids on what to do once the bags fully colonize so I really appreciated your demonstration.
Can you do a video on your lids? A lot of teks require using mirco pore tape or polyfil. I see you have great success with just flipped lids. Keep up the great work, I'm learning a lot. Thank you.
My first ever inoculation 2 days ago, and here we go. Appreciate the content!! Keep it simple, clean, and leave it alone. Got it. I am also not new to growing things, though I know hydroponics best. This .. is .. another .. world. Awesome! Thank you.
Just discovered your channel. Thanks so much for putting out great, free content. Would you mind sharing the particular species you were growing in this video?
I hear this intro during the day. I always forget which video had it as the intro so I have to find it all over every time! I absolutely love it! More of this Sensei! 😂🤣😂
Nice! Fortunately in Europe you can buy these ready to grow kits from the Netherlands, that are really easy, quick and work really well! I happen to have received a super resilient and strong B+ strain. I accidentally had them on over 30C (over 86 F) and the mycelium survived and they are now that I lowered the temp growing extremely strong and fast!
Man I gotta say. There's a lot of people out there with these growing videos but this guy right here.. he's the best. I pretty much only watch him and have had great success 🍄👍 thank you!
Really helpful, and so far so good. Just transferred to tubs, and the spawn looked (and smelled) incredible. Looking forward to pins in the next few days and fruiting! Thank you!
quick tip on adding substate. this step is super important as it will dictate the moisture level when you are fruiting. make sure your sub has enough moisture content. do it in layers, and you can mist inbetween to make sure if you think its a little dry. this will basically ensure while fruiting you might not need to ever mist your tub. just fan. :) a little extra misting goes a long way. ride the spiral my friends.
This! I’ve only had to mist tubs a couple of times because I always get my sub at the wetter end of field capacity. With enough FAE and proper moisture content I often times don’t have to even open the tub to fan.
Hi I've been doing some research on cvg and can't seem to find out if pressure cooking the grain is necessary or not, just seen your broke boi tek vid and now i know 😂🤦♂️
Enjoyed the intro but I’m likely now scarred for life! What ratio of spawn to substrate has worked the best for you? Thanks for sharing this beautiful material ❤️
Hey PGT... I can't stop watching the PPAP intro. Makes me happy every time! You're smashing it with your vids man... Great entertainment, catchy tunes and animation, cool theme song, calming voice and flat out good advice. You're straight to the facts, easy to follow along visual lessons (which I really appreciate) and I don't have to sift thru 30 minutes of useless chatter trying to pick out the useful stuff. And one more thing... You do what you say you're gunna do. I asked a question and you responded the next day. Unlike other channels that can't seem to follow thru except with promises unanswered. My intention here is not to complain, think of it as reporting. Which brings me to my final question. What means can I help support your channel?
Great videos! I have searched high and low for 12 quart sterilite containers but have only found 6, 16 quart and of course larger. What is the top dimension of your grow boxes? You have a new subscriber.
Thx for taking me to school. will be starting my first shoebox Monday. wish me luck! I will be embracing your simple method. Excited to try, with a little care I'm sure its going to be great. Thx Teach 😉
Because the old heads in the growing scene really hate the fact that their formerly held "ancestral knowledge" is essentially bull shit now, and any old momo can grow cubes with 2 brain cells to rub together. The Shroomery is a cespool of humans mixed with a wealth of knowledge - most of which you can ignore apart from the basics.
@@corsicanlulu it's not confusing, it's just more advanced. This is like "Growing Mushrooms for Dummies" where shroomery.org is like "Advanced Mycology 6th Edition." Search for RogerRabbit's posts on there, I consider him an authority on the subject of mycelium. He will point you in the right direction.
Awesome video! I have a couple of questions. Have you ever not used a casing layer for bulk substrate? Also, have you experimented with adding the casing layer right around the time hyphal knots appear? If you don't mind, what are your thoughts on these ideas?
Thanks for all the great content! I am using 17-20qt monotubs and am having issues with green mold/trich in the colonizing stage, doesn't even reach 10% colonized before it fails. What are some things to look out for to prevent contam that early? I made my own grain spaw and using the cvg substrate mix.
I would be interested to know your ratio of spawn to sub for your tub as I’m on a journey to understand if I can spawn to bulk with one uncle bens rice bag
If the internet gods are so kind to keep this up, I could definitely see myself watching this again in like 20 years or so thinking very fondly of these good ole days. Thanks PGT, you'll never know the impact you've had. :)
Amazing. I used to muck around with giant totes, cutting holes and stuff- they would always contam before colonizing fully. These tubs are small and self contained, less room for error, shorter colonizing time. I think it's the way to go!
I personally don't have a flowhood, just a air cleaner for the room I could work in. How do I proceed to avoid contam? I see you are working freely, but what room conditions did you have while filming this video? Thank you so much for any hints in advance and the great job you've done so far with this channel 😊🙏🏻
Also you want to work in the smallest room possible... I work in my garage with a trash and cat pan out there i just keep everything clean sanitized and have no contam issues with my sab (still air box). with the ac turned off (if working inside) and wait half hour after you turn it off. some people use the bathroom... hope this helps 🙏 namaste
