Learn the pro tips that helped Marcus double his productivity and extend his flying season, plus the top three things he'll avoid next year to fly even more acres!
About Marcus Shira:
Marcus Shira was born and raised on a potato farm in Harper, Oregon and has been deeply rooted in agriculture throughout his lifetime. Marcus started his career as a Crop Advisor for Simplot where he managed the inputs on his growers fields and ensured a successful end crop.
After his time with Simplot, Marcus knew he wanted to stay close to his family and accepted a position as a Farm Manager where he managed roughly 3,000 acres. Soon after then a Rantizo representative and drone pilot visited the farm. Marcus knew right then that drone spraying was the future for the agriculture industry and he wanted to be a part of it. Marcus joined Rantizo in February of 2022 and has sprayed over a total of 130,000 acres with a UAV on many different crops in the Pacific Northwest.

7500 Acres in a whole season? That seems pretty low?!

Hello I have a few questions. I work on a 1300 acre corn and soybean farm in north Mississippi. Will this make us more efficient and profitable?

Efficient, no. Profitable, yes. For your average, a plane or helicopter could do it in less time for the same or less money. Drones are able to penetrate the canopy of the crops and provide better coverage. Meaning better yields typically.

Efficient, yes. Profitable is up to you. Depends on how you use this tool

If you never used 500 gallons in a day then yes, you definitely have an efficiency problem. Otherwise, the discussion is full of generalizations that it doesn't help anyone.
