Hi Mei, I have been watching most of your you tube channel and found it very helpful! Thank you! I am also looking to sell online, however, not sure what product to sell though. 🙄 You have a lot of experience. I would appreciate if you could share a bit of light and if you could advice me on please what is the best product/ category to sell online. Jewelry business is a very compatible and most people are selling it online. In your opinion would you say it’s best to consider other options like designing clothes or shoes instead of jewelry. As I love both categories and can’t decide. Any advise would be very helpful. Many thanks!
Ok first of all, the jewelry that you and your mom made are GORGEOUS! Second, that before picture of your watermelon is so stinkin adorable. And third, this is my new favorite video that you’ve uploaded. I absolutely love being able to relate to a successful business owner’s journey. Thank you so so much for doing this! Gonna go watch it again now and probably everyday for a week straight. 🥰
Thank you so much for saying that! I am really a maker at heart, and I always hope that it comes across that I really just want to help other makers. 💖
You are a beautiful person that has informed us and continues to inform us about so much information I thank you so much for this. Please don’t think you have not made a difference in many lives. 🥰
You just described my situation write now. My husband is so sceptic but supportive what I do. I try to make youtube sewing videos and started my Etsy shop. He is like nobody around us, don't do that, why I am doing it? We live in small down in small country and RU-vid is not a thing here, but I told him I want that and I am willing to make sacrifices( so match my time and effort) I have little free time, because I work almost full time, and have a one toddler in home. But I enjoy it!:) I have learned so much in so little time. Thank you for this video!
Congratulations on setting up your channel and for putting yourself out there! It sounds like you enjoy what you are doing right now, and that is the most important thing. RU-vid is designed to connect you to people not near you, so the fact that RU-vid isn't big where you are isn't really an issue, and sewing is definitely a niche that connects people. I think if you're happy, then keep going!
I’ve been binge watching your vids today & love all your content & advice ! I’ve been wanting to start my own crafting business for so long and this video was my validation that it’s okay to be scared but we have to follow our dreams
Thank you for your honesty, I am just starting my home business again and watching your videos are very helpful. I'm 3 years away from retirement and want to run my own business and you have been a life saver...stay blessed
This is why I follow your every video. Your honesty in the journey is everything I go through and yet you keep growing and inspiring! During this time as I have to shift how I run the business, you have continued to give me tips and ideas that benefit my business and I am grateful.
congrats to your success and sharing your journey with us, I can really relate to how your friends and family didn't trust you on your life choices. Thanks for taking the time to create this content!
I'm just in love with your channel ! You're an amazing person and creative and your content is so helpful ! I'm so happy you fought for your dreams and you're now thriving
Amazing video well done! Very inspiring to me as someone who wants to open up a handmade business and isn’t very confident in themselves, thank you very much! :)
💐Thank you for your encouraging remarks. Learning is a big value and we should make use of it to promote our knowledge and skills and go for the better. From hobby to selling hobby articles to small business and then bigger sales ... never let anyone stop a person's learning to go for living a better life. I treasure your RU-vid channel and sharing your experiences.
You're absolutely right! It's all about seizing opportunities, expanding our knowledge, and striving for a better life. Thank you for sharing your thoughts!
Thanks for sharing your experience, Mei. I've been self-employed in the arts field (museum consultant) for just over a decade and all of your advice is spot on for starting any business, including my non-handmade business! Some family members and colleagues were extremely concerned when I decided to take the leap into self-employment. While it may have looked like I made a snap decision to leave my full-time job, I took many of the steps you mentioned before going out on my own. I've always enjoyed creating art and I have been making mixed media acrylic collage for the past six months, learning A LOT through RU-vid videos, library books, and conversations with another artist. Your "garage sale" phase really resonated with me as I now have half a dozen pieces I *think* I could sell. I'm considering starting an handmade business that I can transition to full time when I retire (5-10 years) and am looking forward to watching and learning from you video series. Thanks again for sharing your knowledge!
Hi Cheryl! Congratulations on taking the leap into self-employment and rocking it! Friends and family members always truly mean well, but if they are not IN IT then they just can't understand, and I'm glad that you did your research and stuck to your guns!
Excellent video amen. I watched this video four times back to back. A tremendous wealth of knowledge (mindset), wisdom (self investment), and reveal (sincere self evaluation) and more. I think because of the depth that each subject plays on an individual it resonates with anyone hungry for healthy, sincere growth needed for necessary areas of the human self or selves amen. I could really dive deep here but congrats for y'all doing a superb job together here! Thanks, James & Rescue Kitty😺
It's the only way to tackle it, Jennifer! People don't see the consistent effort and work over the years behind the scenes, but that's how it gets done!
I appreciate this video so much because the fear is so relatable and seeing where you are now reassures where persistence gets you. Thank you for this insight!
I'm so glad to hear this! It can be so hard to keep going sometimes, and know that you are doing the right thing for your business, but you keep forging ahead and making changes and see how it works out!
What a great video! I love hearing your story! I have been making and selling Jewelry and other handmade items for about 30 years. There were times when I made a full time income from it-I even had a little shop for a while-but other times I really struggled. I finally gave up and went back to college to become an archaeologist. But, while I love archaeology, it is very hard in a lot of ways and after being unemployed for 6 months during the pandemic, I revived my Etsy shop and started making some sales. I also got some part time work at a bead store (I have worked in many), that has its own wholesale line of jewelry. I got very inspired and I have been binge watching your videos! Right now I’m not sure where it’s going but I’m learning and planning and I hope that someday I will be as successful as you! Thank you for all your great info!
Wow, that's an amazing story as well! Archaeology is so fascinating. How awesome that you've gotten to do that AND indulge your creative side as well. Keep learning and planning and making yourself happy!
Thank you for an inspiring and encouraging video, Mei. It is reassuring to hear that you had fears and insecurities when you were starting out, which I struggle with every day but I keep going! I also have spent A LOT of money on training and education, but I know the value in every cent of it and I know it's helping carry me toward the vision I see for my business, even if others don't see it yet. I am just starting with A Sale A Day but I can't wait for all that I will learn from your training. Thank you for what you do!
I have learnt a lot from you and still learning. You are not just amazing but you've have worked so hard to be where you are and I congratulate you for that. Well done!!
HI Im from the Philippines, thank you for this video!! It inspired me after watching it.. I was feeling at loss if I should continue with our family business or not.. I have so many downs currently in my life and I was really starting to lose hope.. thanks to your keypoints in this video, I'm motivated and hopeful again.. running a business is really not easy. I want to continue the business my late mom started and was passionate about and expand it further (I hope she's proud of me up there). she loves making jewelry and I love doing any crafts (stationeries, crocheting, and etc.). I learned some things I lack for my business in this video. thank you so much. you are an inspiring figure
Aww, Layla. ❤️ Thank you so much for the kind words!! ❤️ Don't lose hope! YOU GOT THIS!! All businesses have their own ups and downs even the most successful ones but don't let these challenges lose your fire. You're not alone! Keep fighting!! I'm sure your mom is SO proud of you!! ❤️💯
Wish I could give you not just one but two thumbs up for this video. It's so honest and inspiring. I am an old lady who tries to catch up with the handmade business trends, so learning from you everyday truly helps. Thank you very much!
I just ❤️ watching your videos. You are so eloquent in your speech and communicate your message effectively. The knowledge you are passing on is genuinely true and priceless. A precious give back. 👏🙏
Thank you so much for sharing your stories. I'm from Indonesia, so we use to be neighbour 😅 anyway, I start my freelance writing business for US client 2 years ago, also launch my blog 6 months ago. It's been a journey and I have big dreams for my blog ❤
i am addicted to your channel. you are so inspiring. I am building my first business. i have bad anxiety and relate to so much of how you say things, hope you have a good day,
Thank you so much for your kind words!! ❤️❤️ Hope you're having a great day too!! 🥰🥰 Good luck with your first business!! You can also register on my free online workshop if you need some tips in scaling a handmade business online: bit.ly/34OO1AJ
Amazing journey! Congratulations 👏!! You've done great! I love watching your videos, you are so inspiring. I agree with everything you've said. I've been learning my resin craft for 2 years now and I've been doing everything you've mentioned🙌 I preserve flowers in resin and absolutely love creating new pieces . Thank you for sharing!
Thank you so much for your sweet words Maria! I really appreciate it!! ❤️ I also have a blog (and video) about starting a resin craft business, in case you want to check it out, here's the link: www.creativehiveco.com/how-to-start-your-own-resin-business/ Good luck with your business!! ❤️
One of the things you said really resonated with me... The whole part about not being this Instagram type girl that will attract attention online. Honestly ? the first thing I thought when I discovered your channel (other than I DIG your name:)), was that you have the look that goes with having a channel and I wish I had that too. I think we often just generalize how we look- but forget that the world is huge! Dating in my country, and in several others, i felt like in israel ("home") I am normal looking. In Asia most guys said I was fat and big, and in Finland I was this tiny little girl to guys there. And as I am getting ready to open my own channel (hopefully this weekend) I kinda needed that as a reminder, cause if a totally knock-out chick like you felt this way- maybe it's ok for me to have those fears too, and maybe that's all they are- fears. Thanks again for being so awesome, and I feel like kind of a stalker when I comment so much, it's just that I really do have like 3-4 channels on a loop watching them as I work and yours is one of them :)
Thank you so much for this comment, Mey! (Great name!!) I think that's really interesting what type of attention you've received in different countries, and from that I would just say that there's no one ideal and no one "type" and that if you have something interesting to say, DO IT.
I am so glad that I found your channel through youtube, I couldn't agree more with this episode as a non-English speaker handcraft small business owner. I just started, get my logo ready, and currently working on my website. Your videos have so much valuable information that i have to constantly make notes. Thank you for sharing Mei!!
You seem so genuine, everything that you say makes me trust you, you tell us all the pros and cons about starting a business. I am learning from all of your videos in order to start mine! thanks Mei! :)
Thank you so much for sharing this, your honesty and perseverance is really inspiring. I'm so thankful I found your channel. I feel committed to really make a change and act on my ideas and expanding my skillset to make things happen, instead of hiding away under anxiety and fear rejection which has crippled me for like 2 decades 😔 Sending seasons greetings from London 🇬🇧
Thank you so much for watching Niima!! ❤️❤️ Feel free to also check this out if you need any helpful reference in starting your own resin business: www.creativehiveco.com/how-to-start-your-own-resin-business/ If you're also interested, you're more than welcome to join my free workshop. I've watched a lot of your videos, Mei. I think this is my favorite video, because it speaks to me in so many levels. Thank you for sharing your before and after. Very inspiring!
Thank you so much for making this video. I am so impressed with you and proud of what you've been able to do. So many people give up so easily, which is what I used to do. If you only stick with it, people would be amazed at what they're capable of doing. It wasn't until I realized that, is when I started to be successful online. I hope many people will be able to view this video and understand that the secret to their success lies completely in themselves.
That's so nice of you to say, Alex, and I'm so glad that you've been able to have success with your business. The consistent effort can be tiresome sometimes but if you do stick with it, amazing things can happen!
Love from Malaysia. Thanks a lot Mei for this sharing. I'm so down since my craft products didn't get as much attention as I hope for. I am 42 now, and I always this idea, "I am too old to start this business." But, after watched your video, I believe that I can achieve anything. I hope I can meet you when you are in Malaysia.
Hello fellow Malaysian! Don't get too down - it can take awhile to get going. Just make sure you are doing everything you can to make your business as successful as possible.
Thank you for your success. Knowing your story and that you set out to accomplish a goal and did it is very encouraging. I'm an inspiring entrepreneur. So many goals im looking forward to learning more things from your experience
@@CreativeHiveCo thanks. Honestly feeling defeated because I want to figure out how to have an online business by myself however I simply don't understand what to do. Ex setting up my shopify store its confusing i don't get the aps. Iv thought about getting someone to do it however i don't have the money. Smh
Thank you so much mei!! I got really inspired by your journey. I also have a handmade jewelry business and its not really easy for me to reachout to customers. Because like what you said, im also scared of being judged and i dont want to be compared to other makers lol lol. Anyw. Love your content really really helpful 😭❤️🥺 God bless on your business
I just found you're RU-vid channel and so far I'm loving all the great information!!! Thank You!!! Is there anyway you can show us in great detail how to start a website for our homemade business??? PLEASE??? My husband and I are starting a Dog Bandana business and are in much need in help getting it going!!! All this stuff is overwhelming to say the least!!! Thank you in advance!!!
thats the best video expected this one much before searched for content like this much before but now suddenly its here can i ask what took u so long to post this after along time? well your emotions and expression are genuine very good video very inspiring and give a natural sense of understating by heart because video's like this one really connects and co relates
@@CreativeHiveCo offcourse I am also thinking for a home desk based start-up a business try before this ended in a failure but taught many good lessons
One question struck in my mind which I was avoiding a lot but I thought give it a try if u didn't like my question u can skip it well I want to ask that in your this video it seems that you are a emotional person and a asian too who give weightage to their family and relationships a lot in this video u told that you found your husband in between your business journey as far as I know both activities in life require huge amount of emotions , feelings and time both are big deal for a person who are emotional and as well as dreams so my question is how u balance these two at the same time ? Gravity of your emotions in your relationship dsnt make u sometimes grab you away from your business journey with this I have another question in mind if you are a emotional person you didn't find it hard to fire those sales representatives who work for your business in the phase of wholesale if yes then how u deal with that ?
If you are looking for a complete class to get more sales online, I would love for you to check out my A Sale A Day class! www.creativehiveco.com/a-sale-a-day-business/ I have personally taken classes for Facebook ads, website design, and for social media as well.
Hi Denise! Yes, I feel like these work for all creative businesses because in the end, business is business and there are some constants across all business types.
Powerful insight. Truly appreciate your honesty. Just a question, are there any particular platform you recommend for taking in courses in media outreach? Thank you.
NEW SUBSCRIBER IN THE HOUSE 😂 LOL I really loved your video ❤I cant wait to see all your videos and learn more of how i can make my business successful. I've recently started my etsy shop. One sale on (Instant Downloads) Do you have any videos on time management and organization, i feel like i lack on time management because i do have a full time job so i always feel like i dont have time, but i know i have to make time.Looking forward to any feedback. I will continue to watch your videos❤

Did I understand you correctly regarding using FB ads. Did you say that the biggest driver for sales is through FB ads? Did you still recommend FB ads as in 2022? And are they more effective than the influencer marketing you talk about? Love all your videos btw!
Hi Karen! I still find email and influencer marketing more effective. While FB ads is also good to have, it requires money and only works well when you've already got some sales coming in organically or if you're confident about your targeting/ideal customers.
Hi Mei, I am happy to found your video I been watching your video for a week now. And I am Thankful I am also a polymer Artist but I polymer clay flower canes. I am still working full time and would to be a full doing my Arts. I wish you could help me. I am from the philippines by the way.
Hi Shygar! Thank you so much for watching my videos. If you are ever interested in diving more into your business with me, you can consider enrolling in my A Sale A Day course: www.creativehiveco.com/a-sale-a-day-business/
I want to start taking business courses, but I'm not sure what to look for in a course. As in what skills I should be learning from it. Do you have any suggestions? You mentioned media outreach and marketing, was there any other important skills?
Question I have an etys and I am currently working on my shopify website with the same products. How can I have the stock on my etsy and shopify sync? Will I have to manually adjust my shopify every time I make an etsy sale and vice versa????? Thank You!
Hello chickapea.... i've been watching your vids a lot, i have an amazon POD biz that makes me almost no sales now, and i have an etsy shop also... i know you are big on shopify, but i loathe facebook advertising! and wondered about your klickly or whatever it's called... can one make money on shopify with only klickly? it doesn't have to be a LOT of money, like even 500/month would be good with me... but i have always hesitated with shopify because it needs FB ads!! please advise? xoxoxox
Honestly, I don't love the idea of relying on only one thing to make sales because it's super risky! Klickly is a great service I love but they're application based only and from last I heard, they only take in shops that are already doing a certain number of sales per month, so I don't know if that would be an easy option. You don't HAVE to use Facebook ads. Doing media outreach and some social media is good for Shopify, too.
Hi Lucia! I don't do one-on-one coaching, but I do offer my A Sale A Day course. You can see more about it here: www.creativehiveco.com/a-sale-a-day-business-closed/ Feel free to email me if you have questions about it. mei@creativehiveco.com
