When this happens "Time Dilation" occurs but only for Brandon. There's also a few writers who experience a "slower than normal relative time..." which I wasn't aware of their existence until I read the other replies to this comment. 😉😅🤷‍♀️

This is really good, but it misses a step. Can you explain how you went from being Brandon Sanderson to Brandon Sanderson LLC, a corporate entity with employees? My sense is that more writers are hiring staff and outsourcing parts of their creative process earlier then they did in decades past in order to make maximum use of their time, as you do. But I'm not sure if you agree that this is a general tendency.

I’m wondering when do you maintain this system. Is it in the writing blocks? Is it in some other time? For example, when do you outline? When do you update and maintain the floating outline for the next few chapters? How do you keep these “overheads”- when you spend time working on the system itself instead of the actual book- to a minimum? Especially before you could delegate some of these to your assistants. Thank you!
@KaiMFS

I outline/plan ahead the same way but I do it for the whole novel in one go. I end up deviating as I write to simplify things because bulletpointing chapters for me is like being at a buffet and serving myself too much. Sometimes my eyes are bigger than my stomach =P

Brandon, you have become my writing idol with your amazing videos. Sometimes, though, I feel frustrated when I can't write for 8 hours a day like you do. I try doing it in 4 hour chunks the way you've explained, but I always run out of steam after about 2.5 hours, and maybe get another hour later in the evening. How long did it take you to 'work up' to that daily quota? I'm praying that my stamina will improve as I practice through the years, but sometimes I feel hopeless!
@ammonnakai453
@ammonnakai453 3 года назад
Something he talks about a lot is finding what works *for you*. You don't have to write in 4-hour chunks. That's just what works best for him. You might do best with 2 or 2.5 hour chunks. And that's fine. Try scheduling two 2-hour chunks instead of one 4-hour chunk and see how that works.

@Ketsuegg
@Ketsuegg 3 года назад
Honestly, a decent writing goal could be something like 500w a day, some days that means you will finish your writing goal in 10 minutes, other days it will take you a full hour, but it's a good place to start. You'll average about 15000 words a month at this pace so about 10 months for your average book draft, BUT that's only if you get into the bare minimum, the most important thing is to just sit down and start writing. Even if the story you start working on doesn't go anywhere you will learn more with 500 words a day than you will with 500 videos about writing a week.
