Hey guys! My name is Brian Vasquez, and I've been on an art fundamentals journey for 9 years. I've studied many mediums, traditional and digital, including acrylic, oil, and watercolor painting. I'm interested in helping other beginner to intermediate artists take advantage of digital and traditional tools to bring out their full potential and more. With 9 plus years of art fundamental experience, I believe I have a lot of knowledge useful to people who want to learn how to paint better, draw better, and learn how to be a better artist in general. I'll be showing you countless ways to get better at drawing and painting with art process tutorials. I hope you enjoy the process with me.

Thanks for sharing! I used to never finish any of my art. I recently started posting my art every other day. Art is a hobby of mine, but I've always dreamed of making it a career. I think I would like it most as a side hustle. I'm gonna keep studying it because I love it, but I also work in research and I don't think I can give that up either.

These are really good points. I’ll add just create a community of small artist friends as well. Cuz all of you are doing art, and you can share resources and materials. I picked up watercolor, tried for 6 months still hated it. So I traded my watercolors for inks with an art friend. Saved us both money. Plus you guys can show support to each other and give pointers
@brianvasquezart

Well art school is about 80,000 a year for 4 years you're still saving and it depends what you're doing if you just want to get good at figure drawing and you're not like doing digital or anything like that you can just take figure drawing classes
@brianvasquez40
@brianvasquez40 Год назад
I saved so much. I think that's a great point. There are usually art groups that get together and do live drawing in certain venues. There are so many avenues at several levels of art that beginner artists can check out within their community, even if it's for a test run to see if it's for them.

I like art, but right now i do not adore it, do you think it's possible to discipline myself into doing art all the time ? I feel like it's the only job i can see myself doing.
@brianvasquezart
@brianvasquezart 2 года назад
How it worked for me personally, is i did not adore it at first either. What I did realize was something similar to you, it was all I saw myself doing. I kept at it for only a couple months and as I saw improvement, it gave me more confidence in not only my art but in life itself. One thing feeds the other but it really must find us doing it. The thing about discipline is it is something that we must insist on ourselves everyday. I hope you. I truly believe we all have that in us. The beginning is always the hardest. I say give it a few months to start. Good luck on your journey.

Thank you. I would take a sketchbook and draw from life. Draw at the local coffee spot. If you have one, you can also take a book of an art subject you’re studying right now. I would take my books and study on my lunch breaks or draw from them. Definitely pick a subject and pick what format you’re going to work with. Hope this helps.

@brianvasquezart
@brianvasquezart 2 года назад
Thank you! I apologize for not getting back promptly. I would personally recommend any gumroad courses by John Park, John Sweeney, and Maciej Kuciara. The Gnomon Art school courses are great too. You can not go wrong with those. They helped to demystify not only the industry but workflow. It’s a bit pricey but worth the money. Good luck!

I think the most important question is, what do you want your life to be? How should you spend your time? What do you love? The answer to all of those questions should be the thing you put in the work into. It won't be easy, but I promise passion and love will never be regretted. It must be a priority going in knowing all the facts. I wish you luck. Take it as serious as you ever have. You have time.

Great video Brian. Any chance you can share the curriculums you used ? Thanks .
@brianvasquezart
@brianvasquezart 2 года назад
I will give you all the subjects I learned so far but naming all of the sources and books would probably require a long video. Maybe one day. The curriculum i studied centered around an all around, broad approach to the art fundamentals including some from fine art and concept art including perspective, composition, values, anatomy, color and light, and drawing. Also a lot of sight size/bargue drawing, photoshop, photo manipulation/photobashing, 3D sculpting, 3D modeling, 3D texturing. Lastly a little design, ideation, and vehicle design. Hope this helps.
