Thank you for taking your time to post this helpful video. I plan to enjoy my swim spa as much as you do now that you have provided so many useful exercises!!
Thank you so much! Prayerfully, I may be able to use this video to encourage my husband to want to get one of these so I can swim at home instead of the local YMCA.
Hi Valerie thank you for sharing this video and demonstrating your swimspa! We are in the market for one and this was very helpful. You are a great swimmer and what a wonderful set up you have :-)
Thank you for sharing. Wow. It is so encouraging to swim 3 times a week all year round at our own backyard. It gives me a good reason of having my own swim spa.
We just bought a swim spa & I can't wait to start using it! My husband is a disabled Veteran, he's had about 15 surgeries. He's usually in pain but I think the swim spa will be good for him too! Thanks for the video!
This was super helpful, and you are NOT a "fat old lady" .. I'm 57 and I can tell you you look AMAZING and I love your "can do" attitude. You will ALWAYS be young with that attitude. Oooo I needed that swim noodle trick - I used a kickboard but your solution looks wayyy easier and more comfortable. p.s. and yes I feel ya on the "Tin Man" comparison
London Ontario Canada Wonderful video I just purchased a 15 ft swimspa and was looking for different exercises and like you I have a swim belt and prefer to swim with no jets or pumps going. Thanks for the video
Thank you Valerie. We just purchased one and have not opening the swim till April, but we enjoy the hot tub area. Nice video. Good example of swimming strokes which do dont see in other videos.
Thanks for showing real life in a swim spa. I am thinking of getting one instead of an in ground pool. I am in Central FL. Mine would be enclosed on my lanai. Happy swimming!
Hi Valerie. I Really enjoyed your video & style! I’m shopping for a swim spa & wondering what brand & model +size you have? I’ll be going for one of the deeper 60” models. Your comment on that sold me. I also appreciated your swim methods. Loved That strap system! & comparing it with swimming against the current. The rotator cuff excercises were awesome! I had both of my 55yo shoulders done & No other spa video showed those excercises, lol! Great Job!! I’m also mindfully eating right and will also look into your veggie product. Keep up the good work!
Thanks Gregory, I love my swim spa! I use it 3 or 4 times a week! I would swim more but it dries out my skin. 😏We have a Catalina 12 foot spa. That is plenty long for us, but I would like to upgrade to the deeper one some day too. I love exercising in the spa. Not only do I swim, but I do lots of other exercising also. Something I learned about the chemicals I think I mentioned in the description is that to make sure you get the PH right. That makes all the difference in being able to use less chemicals. We tried Bromine in the beginning because they recommended it at the spa place. We struggled and struggled with the chemicals. We also hated the way bromine smelled. Then we switched to chlorine and got the PH right and it has been 10 times easier. That is our experience anyway. As for the Ruvi, I love it too and all the other freeze dried food that we sell. In the cans the food has a 20 year shelf life. Great for emergencies and food storage. The Ruvi lasts a year. I love the Ruvi, it has made so much difference in the way I feel. I drink one a day, I sleep better and I have more energy. I eat a pretty good diet, but my variety of fruits and vegetables is not very bountiful. With Ruvi I get 26 different fruits and vegetables every 4 days. That's the difference! Some of those fruits I don't even have access to buy. If you are interested in getting a free sample, send me your address on my email and I will send you a free sample, and let me know what flavor you would like to try. Happy Health! Valerie
@@jillclock6188 I was wondering if you bought yours yet? I've been looking for one too, but a deeper one. The water level is several inches below the height, so I'm trying to find the deepest one I can...:-)
@@DebbieTomkoSUNSHINE No we have not. I just feel we would not put it to good use (having to take the cover on & off after every use etc.). If we do anything I would say we would lean to an underground pool considering this (swim spa) is a pretty large investment.
I love your video! I've been shopping for a swim spa for several months comparing models and even visiting a few stores and an expo. Your video made me agree with my partner that this is the one that we should go with because we can swim, exercise, the whole family can enjoy it and it is smaller and much more budget friendly! You have enough room in the swim lane for all the strokes and there is enough seating for everyone too. I liked when all your grandkids got in the pool, it showed how many people can all fit comfortably. Although I am curious, what height you went with. The Catalina Malibu currently sells 51" Height. Like everyone else, I love your bunji belt and have only seen the "fishing pole" style swim tethers. Also, I'm interested in the Ruvi drinks that you sell. I am a vegetarian and eat fairly healthy, but am always looking for more ways to improve me and my family's health.
Thank for your comments. My spa is 51 inches high outside height. Inside the water level is 40 to 42 inches. It is a great spa and we have loved it! I still use it all the time! As for the Ruvi you can get it along with other freeze dried products at valhat.thrivelife.com. Check it out! They are great products!
Hello! This video was so amazing! May we ask what brand and where you bought your spa? Also, what model is it? Thank you, in advance, for your time and feedback.
thanks Valerie for your inspiring video. After years of researching swim spas..... I am finally expecting one in Jan or Feb. I have sever Spinal stenosis and other spinal issues...so looking forward to using it. I also ordered the bungee chords..... as a tether would not be good on my spine. I have never used a snorkel but i may have to try to help avoid neck strain by breathing. thanks again for your video. ...better then some of the ones that swim spa companies have provided. Yours is simple and real! Cheers!
Thank you for your sweet comments. I truly believe that swimming has kept me healthy. I know I would suffer from arthritis, and other things like my joints wearing out. My sisters all have or are beginning to have these symptoms and they don't swim. I have remained stronger and more healthy. I hope that you get some relief from your ailments! Best wishes to you!
@@valeriesapron1749 hi. thanks again for your video...i can not seem to swim in my swim spa...very upset. i was told i could but i keep hitting my feet on sides and the back seat. i bought an exp. workout gear with the spa but so far no luck and poor instructions... i keep watching your video to see how you use the bungee..thingie. i have a tether with belt ...bungee chords...but when i try to use the bungee chords...with the one and only belt it does not work right... any suggestions?
@@dianemariekramerakashewolf8496 I'm sorry to hear you are struggling. I really don't know what to say to help you except to maybe have someone watch you swim and see if they can give you suggestions. Without seeing your setup I don't know how to help. I had a bit of trouble hitting the sides, when I began, but I just kept adjusting and I got use to it pretty quickly, and now it is second nature. One thing I thought of today as I swim, I arch my back a little when I am using a wider stroke with my feet. This brings my bottom and legs up higher so they don't hit the benches on the sides. Get someone to watch you and maybe they can help you. I hope you get it figured out and end up loving it as much as I do. V
Thank you so much for sharing! Really nice video!!! And thank you very much for sharing the fruit and veggie packs!! Great for travelers too!! I'm a true vegan .... mostly organic fruits. Blessings!!
Hi Valerie, what a fantastic video! Thank u for sharing! I love your pointers on the snorkel and tether. That cover is fantastic! Can u tell me the make & model?
Thank you! I'm sorry I don't know the make and model of the cover. It is made with aluminum tubing. The sun does ruin the rubber stuff on the seams though, but we put that fancy tape they advertise on TV that sticks to everything and is waterproof. That lasted for a year. It needs another layer on it now.
You are so adorable! I love this idea. What was the cost for your pool? I’m looking for the cheapest option. I wanted one of the spas with jets, but they are VERY expensive. Thanks😊
Very interesting. I have never seen anyone showing swimming like that with the bungees, especially facing away from the swim jet end. I can imagine it is a more peaceful swim than with the Jets once you get used to the being strapped in. I was getting worried about your swim jets till I got to that part of the video. Very nice breakdown 👍. What size spa is that? 12'? 14'?
It is a 12' spa. I wish the clips on the side were back further so that I could swim towards the jets sometimes. It is too close if I turn around, but yes it makes for a very peaceful swim. I love it.!
Hi wonderful video. I’m getting a small pool set up in my garage, I would luv to know where you got your bungee waist strap, I can only find the ones with the one strap that goes behind. Yours seems like an easier option 🥰
What type of swim spa do you own? I want to get one now because I just saw your bungee belt. I wasn’t going to get a swim spa because of the jet water on my face ( which I don’t like ).Thank you for sharing your video.
I do use it all year long. It is close to my house so it is just a few steps from the back door. We get a lot of snow in Utah and we just sweep or shovel it off the top and open it up and I swim. I keep the temperature warmer in the winter than in the summer so it works great. I have even been swimming several times in the light rain or snow. You are wet so it doesn't matter. Never during thunder storms. As far as the price we bought ours at the year end sale after Christmas about 4 years ago. We had a old hot tub that we traded in. I think we paid somewhere around $13,000.
Hi Valerie, I live in Utah County and your video was a great help in deciding whether to purchase a swim spa… so thank you! We purchased from the Spa Bros. They don’t have a showroom (lower overhead) so can offer the spas at a much lower price. I ordered a 14 ft spa and paid $13,999. That included the cover and fitness kit. Our spa comes with the clips on the side but I’ve had to search high and low for the belt & bungee cord. I found one at the swim outlet but it’s even hard to find on their site.
Do you have any videos of you swimming/using the spa with snow on the ground?LOL Seriously, Do you have a water heater that can keep up with your cold Utah winters or just cold Spring weather before green up/Summer? I'm sold. Thanks!!
No pictures, but seriously I do!! 😂 I've swam with lightly falling snow or rain many times. I walk the 5 or 6 steps to the spa in my house slippers, slip them off and get in. The spa heats the water not the water heater. 🤗
I love this video and want to swim with the bungee belt. Have contacted my spa dealer and they do not have a bungee belt. Can you tell me the brand of the belt so it will make my searching easier?
My bungee belt came with the spa. You need to have the clips in the spa that hold it too. I have a Catalina, 12 ft spa. I bought it about 2015. So it's been a while.
Hi Valerie - thanks for the helpful Video. I am considering buying a Swim Spa for swimming. I am only 5 ft. I would like to stick with 12 ft spa due to a very small yard. Are you perfectly happy with the 12 ft size of your spa for swimming? Do you find yourself running into the front or back of spa frequently?
I still have the same spa a few years after I made this video. The size is still just fine. I don’t need a bigger one.. I hope you love it as much as I do.
Maybe there's a way you can trade your in, for a deeper model? Anyway, I enjoyed your video...:-) I was wondering how easy your install was? I am looking for a deeper swim spa too, so I can get more exercise...:-)
The place I bought it does do trade ins, but it would still be a lot. The place I bought it from did all the delivery and install. Go to a good dealer. Be careful buying from big trade shows. They were so awesome! Take a Break Spa, Springville, Utah
If you get the PH right it doesn't take many chemicals. First use spa up or down to regulate that. I use two chlorine tablets in a floater cartridge about once a week. That's all I use most of the time. Then I use Spa Shock after my grandkids get in once in a while.
Hi Valerie!, thank you so much for this video, you open my eyes to something I hadn't thought about. I was searching for a pool and how to heat it up and how to cover it... when I could just buy a swim spa! My question to you is: -Does the bungee strap hurt or chafe your waist? - also, I read in another comment that backstroke is not recommended to do, ¿is it because there is not space enough to move the arm and it would touch the cords in the movement? Thank you so much Blessings from Spain. 💗💗💗
Sorry I'm slow to answer, the bungee belt is loose enough it doesn't bother me, plus I have a swim suit on so, no it doesn't, You can do the backstroke with the bungee belt if you modify, the belt blocks the stoke a bit, so you can't do a full circle. 💕
@@valeriesapron1749 , thank you so much for answering!, it's never too late. I see...good news no chafing, and not so good about the full circle with the backstroke. Thank you so much!
Great video and I love to swim too! I know it’s a few years old now, but what did the spa cost you and how much was installation. Was a concrete slab required? Does it heat with electricity or gas? Appreciate any info.
I don't understand why you can't see the swimming part. It is first. The bunji belt was a bit awkward only the first time or two. But I easily adapted. It is wonderful, I love it! I can do so many different exercises and play. I love the flexibility to go faster or slower when I want, and I don't have the water beating me in the face. The only one that really limits you is the backstroke because you wind your arms all the way through. But I can't do that because of my neck problems so I don't do it.
Hi Valerie, I am trying to decide between the 12 ft Catalina you have (with the benches) and their 14 foot model. I am curious if you ever hit your legs on the benches when you are doing the breast stroke kick. Or... would you choose to have the extra 2 feet if it meant losing the side benches?
I don't hit my feet or my arms on anything. I did in the beginning, just as a learning curve. I am 5'3". I love the benches. When there is a group of us sitting in the hot tub you need the side benches. I didn't know the longer version didn't have the benches. The place where we bought ours actually let me get in and swim in the tub to try it out. Maybe yours would too if you asked.
@@valeriesapron1749 thank you for your quick reply. I love the idea of the benches for the grandkids. I too swim a few times a week and love it, but hate going to the YMCA especially this past yr. I am 5'8" so the dealer rep thought Catalina's 14' model would work better for me, but no other models have these benches. One of my favorite strokes is the breast stroke so I was moving away from the model you have due to concern for always hitting my legs on those benches when doing the breast stroke. It sounds like and looks like on your video, what you are saying is I can compensate and learn to keep my legs closer to the surface when doing the traditional frog leg kick. The store does offer trial swims and i will be scheduling it. Another thing... the bungee waist belt hooked to the side is something I cannot find anywhere and Catalina doesn't seem to have them nor the store, nor amazon. Please let me know and your followers if you can find it anywhere. Thanks much!
@@nsolada My bungie belt came with the spa. Does the spa you are looking at have the little loops that you can clip the bungie belt too? I got mine through "Take a Break Spa" in Springville, Utah. You might contact them to see if they can get you the bungie belt. Though it has been about 3 or 4 years since I got mine. www.takeabreakspas.com
The orange and red are yummy. The purple is good, but has a bit of an aftertaste, the green tastes green! 🙃 but taste better than celery juice and much more beneficial. The first thing I’m noticing is increased energy and that’s awesome!
Look at the drop down description at the top of this video for answers to the most-asked questions. She mentioned in later comments that she had a trade in so ended up costing around $13,000 at an after Christmas sale.
I don't know the name of it. It is an aluminum cover. Check with your dealers. We had the big thick styrofoam one at first but the sun was too hot for it. We got this later and we love it. It costs more than the styrofoam one. But worth it.
