@@randalllong4093 No doubt the pools are good. The commenter was calling attention to it being called “the truth” and it being a paid promotion “bias.” If Muhammad Ali came in to the room and asked me who the best boxer was, then gave me money… didn’t say to claim it was him, just put money down for me to give my opinion, I’m gonna say Ali’s the best. If in the same day Mike Tyson did the Same thing, I’d say Mike Tyson. That’s all he’s trying to say. But ya. It’s a good pool. I’ll probably buy one.

Endless Pool as a company should target urban fitness centers and create gyms dedicated to many endless pools that can be individually booked for slots of time. I live in NYC and swimming is the only cardio I can do due to a back injury. The largest hurdle to swimming is how overcrowded and unpleasant the swimming experience is. These available NYC gym pools are small and some with only 3 lanes. Even the large YMCA pools have 6 lanes, but can be jammed with 5 people sharing each lane and it's an absolute nightmare. I can imagine a profitable business model with 30 of these set up on one room, booked by the hour on an app. And I would GLADLY pay $40 or $50 per session if it meant I could swim at my own pace and not be constantly analyzing my surroundings to not get kicked in the head. WHY DOES THIS NOT EXIST

I always say this too, except I want a whole pool to swim in. Doesn't have to be huge but definitely bigger than these little tiny pools. I went on holiday recently and found a private pool I paid to swim in and had it all to myself. If only they had private pools to rent where I live. They don't 😢

I got my entry level EP back in 2019, with a speed of 1:40 per 100, could only swim 8 mins straight , was tough , now over 500 swims later , 30 mins or 1hr is easier than swimming long in a pool , pool is short quicker swims , and use Vasa Ergo for strength . So mixing the 3 really helps , not so much to swim as a fast swimmer, but a strong triathlete at age 65 . Plus being in Florida with mind on a covered porch , no hot sun on my back .

My Poor's man version is to look for a suitable Creek for swimming. Then look for a big boulder. Then wait for a sunny day to avoid suddenly changes on water level. Then start swimming behind the boulder and in the section at the edge of said boulder when Bernoulli effect increases stream speed. If you get tired just go back behind the boulder...

I am lucky my gym has a large pool with 5 divided lanes each with its own endless pool Fastlane with pace clock I try to use one 4 days a week. I use bone conduction headphones to listen to music while I swim. My speed is slowly increasing. The disappointing thing is the pace clock is not calibrated unless you have an elite pool. There are definitely differences between lanes. The other issue is adjusting a lane resets the 30 minute timer on all the other lanes. It does not affect the settings only the timer. There are things endless pools could do to improve their products.

The Endless Pool sounds like a lovely solution to this problem. My main hesitations about this product, in order of importance to me, are 1) fear that me or others in my family wouldn't actually end up using it, 2) environmental/energy consumption, 3) maintenance, and 4) cost.

@purselmer5931
@purselmer5931 2 года назад
While I do believe the endless pool is similar to swimming in that it's water, I don't believe training in this very often or exclusively would be a good idea. A distance swimmer, much more than someone doing a 50, would especially suffer from this kind of training. No way your stroke isn't going to make allowances for that huge current coming right at out. Swimmers don't battle the water in the form of a current (pool swimmers anyway). Your stroke would necessarily change into a less efficient one b/c power and position would change to battle something that you don't have to in a pool.

I agree with you. When swimming long sets one normally get more tired by the end of the set so speed goes down. When you have this kind of system that pushes you away all the time - you will just end up hitting the back wall with your feet. It might be a good trainer for holding a particular tempo though. I think just having a normal pool with some kind of cord holding you in place is a much better system that allows fluctuations in speed/effort. Cool tech though. It would be fun to try it out. Price is also rather high for what it is.
@purselmer5931
@purselmer5931 2 года назад
@@pilkjaer Absolutely. I was a distance swimmer and I can see how this would not work very well at all. We did a LOT of descending as you go through the set, in effort and time. This would be impossible in this thing. Your points are good ones, But also like you, I'd like to try it once, lol.
@jacopovalentino
@jacopovalentino 2 года назад
I have one of these. Actually, a Fastlane in a 5x8m pool. It sure made the pool "swimmable" - big plus! But the swim experience is totally different from long pool or sea. First the flotation feels different. You sort of struggle more to float (and I am a "floater" swimmer). Then the stroke and "push". I feel that with the Fastlane it is more of a matter of keeping the stroke speed than actually pushing youself through the water with your stroke. In a sense it is hard work and great workout, but a bit different. I can understand why pro-swimmers would include this in their training "diet". Mostly for high intensity sets. And yes, as said: in long sets there is no room for dropping speed, finding a different pace, recover, etc. The machine gives the tempo. As a result, I never trained more that 30 min in it. I swim basically for fun and a bit for keeping fit. In a quiet 25 or 50m pool or in the sea I am inclined to swim more, and after 30 min is when I really relax and start to feel the effort and enjoy the swim. Kind of the tao of swimming kickin in, so to speack. Never got that from the Fastlane.
@wkillam
@wkillam 2 года назад
I used to train in a strong river current and firmly believe that the fastest way to improve technique and efficiency at any distance is to swim against a current. In a river you reach your maximum upstream travel distance and see the same section of river bottom and select a stationary marker, a rock or whatever Then as you make a variety of stroke mechanic alterations while maintaining effort you receive instant feedback relative to your stationary bottom marker and can immediately discard inefficient cahnges and reinforce efficient ones. Not sure if pool is similar.

Are these Endless Pools heated, or can they be heated?

But just like running treadmills, you can't vary your pace. The treadmill keeps going no matter what. So you have to keep up with the machine. If you start to fatigue, lose concentration, or slow down for some other reason the treadmill can throw you into the wall.

Or if you want to do a set descending interval, it would be difficult to constantly get the remote and do that.

When someone used the registered trademark on a brand or says "THE TRUTH" I know it's just a sale's pitch or a sponsored content. Don't patronize viewers.. it's insulting. and BOLD to ask to subscribe at the BEGINNING of the video...

What is the point having the teether?
@FaresKsebati
@FaresKsebati 2 года назад
A tether is useful for small pools! This way you can swim in place - similar to running on a treadmill :)

A product for the wealthy. Like Ironman events. Most would be better off going to a local pool.

why is he using yards? Olympics, the worlds, everyone uses meters for pool length, wth is 51s to a 100 yard? 42 sec for a 100 m maybe? those would be Olympic speeds

Sorry! These pools are very boring. Will discourage you psychologically. Great for just whirlpooling or hanging on bar to relax your body.
