Cracking instructional video Paul and pretty spot on. As an amateur photographer one further tip I would add is to retain the aspect ratio of the original photograph. To do this on the Mac hold down the shift key and the width and height will crop to the same ratio set in the camera. On the phone there will be a button (on top in your case) which does the same thing. The human brain automatically settles to these settings and if you change the width/height ratio the brain will subconsciously register there's something wrong with the pic - even though there isn't. Funny things brains........

Really valuable advice and I totally agree that the photography often doesn't do justice in representing the hard work people do building. Photography has long been something I want to improve on so this has been really useful.

Great video. Have you ever thought of using a air purifier to take as much dust out of the air as possible? Thank for the very helpful videos keep up the good work

Man look at shine on that car!😯 I’m not sure I’d want to place my builds in that. I can imagine how it would beam out all the mistakes. Lol

Good afternoon Paul and all of you... I will take the liberty to give a bit of a help about photos... first, for all of you not having a booth most of the times using a small aperture (f22 on Paul's camera... the bigger the number the smaller the aperture) will make the background look too sharp and will take a bit the focus on the subject... if you choose let's say f8 or f5.6 your depth of field will be highly reduced thus the subject will be sharp still but the background will be fuzzy (kind of bokeh effect) which can be really good to put your car in real car situations and create some fancy scenarios... e.g. Putting your racing car in a scalextric corner with barriers - with the defocus created by the high aperture you can make the corner / barriers look fuzzy so one won't understand it is just a piece of a toy circuit. Secondly, the mid thingie Paul has set to -1/3 is the exposure, normally the white balance can be found only in sub-menus... I'm not a photo geek but anyway, maybe that helps some of you! Most cameras / phones shall have at least a way to mess aperture... even if not directly when you select landscape / portrait that's basically what the camera is twitching inside. Last but not least, the idea of using a timer is really smart... Paul uses it... it is a very simple way to avoid the shaking of the camera whenever you press the shutter! As always Paul, excellent video and the car in itself light years from the second model I have ever made, this Porsche in the yellow they refer on the box... yours looks really cool, mine was a piece of "crab" 🤣 🤣 🤣 I excuse myself in advance for the funny English, I'm Portuguese and sometimes (most of the times) that shows, ahahahaahah

Just a further tip on depth of field. Normally depth of field is sharp one third in front of the focus area and two thirds behind. Handy to know especially if photographing aircraft and trying to get the wings in focus. So instead of focusing on the center rather move it more to the front.

Loads of good advice Paul 👍I’m guilty of just snapping away pictures of builds on a cluttered bench .....bin bag until hobbycraft re opens 👍👌

Really useful and good advice, glad I watched as it reminded me that I need to do more dusting before photography. For any Android users, snapseed app can do the retouching that Paul showed in iPhoto.

Thanks for showing this. I love photography and building car models. As a side note have you seen the new Tamiya McLaren Senna model car? I just got one today. They impossible to find in the US si I got one from Japan. It looks like a great kit. Its not your typical kit of a body, chassis, and interior. I hope you will build one some day. Because of your video series of building the Aston Martin DBS my model came out a lot better. Thanks. If I knew how to upload a photo I would. I ended using a deep rich orange from Gravity paints.
