April 2001 try dealing with hair that’s legit silk will not curl if you tried and trying to straighten it doesn’t work. My Asian hair is naturally wavy not straight as hers. not EVERY Asian has straight hair, it’s hair products not every product will work just because it’s not kinky hair or just bc it’s Asian hair stop being so ignorant
And ooh chile! I had a Vietnamese student whose mom would send her to school with her hair so nice. But she was so wild I would have to fix it back. The hair is so fine but beautiful! It’s hard to style sometimes. But I’m Black so I can say the same about my hair 🤣
I'm Asian, Asians naturally have a lot of baby hairs, what I've noticed with Asians is that they don't have a well defined hairline. I think gelling them back is quite necessary to make them look neat
Why would credit need to be given for where this came from? Nobody puts on jeans and thinks, hm let me give credit to the people who first started rocking denim. It's just a video showing people what to do with baby hairs, EVERYONE has baby hairs and no one wants to look messy with unstyled ones. Just like ur fugazzy example of Jeans. Jeans had a SIGNIFICANT historical and cultural meaning in the US before it was appropriated around the world. That and many other American cultural innovations, do not receive the same level of respect or acknowledgment globally as having distinct cultural value to Americans as their own cultural elements (the other countries/cultures) do to them. They blended our culture so seamlessly into 'world culture' that the origins and its meanings are overlooked or undervalued. This is what has caused an obscuring of the specific American contexts from which our cultural elements e.g. 'JEANS' arose from. So that's why credit needs to be given, to the culture that created it. Stop turning our culture, BLACK culture especially into an EVERYBODY thing, cuz the rest of you look down your noses n scoff at our blackness. Play wit ya mammy

The only thing with edges is that it’s disrespectful to the black community because our hair was always seen as unprofessional and unkept so we wanted to come up with ways to embrace our hair in different styles. Also because during slavery, edges were sometimes used to signal other slaves to do something. Also edges were invented during a time when black women did not have many options or resources for taking care of their hair and this style represents the strength and creativity of black women. But u honestly look stunning just keep in mind everything that the black community had to and still has to go through with our hair 🖤

Being on the internet has made me more insecure, like I'm scared to do any style that i adored before because everyone' attacks you when u do something because u love and not give credits and stuff, like for even the most unproblematic style or fashion, anyone will attack u, ive seen, and im scared to do things now because i don't wanna offend anybody, when previously i adored certain styles innocently and not to mean that i invented or i shouldn't have done it because im not from a certain group or ethnicity
i think it's more about respecting people's cultures and the cultural meaning of certain styles we see. Morally I think everyone should be cautious and do their research about styles that obviously came from different groups of people, especially to those who've been marginalized for years. You have every right to admire a certain style that you see but it's also a responsibility to research what it could mean for other people. Appreciation, not appropriation. That's why it's important to acknowledge where certain styles come from and give credit where credit is due. I hope that makes sense.
Think about it this way, other races will come up with a trend and no one thinks twice about copying it. For example, a make up trend started by a white or Asian woman. It's not a race issue at all. It should be the same with styling baby hairs. It was started with black women in this modern age, but it's laying down baby hairs which is practical! It shouldn't even be made political 🙂

ohsnapitsalexx try different styles of edges I find what looks on me doesn’t look good on everyone and vice versa. Like the curled baby hairs dont look good on but the simple swoop does
Summer Breeze always do your baby hairs first so you can avoid putting foundation in that area but only blend it thinner towards them so when you touch up your edges you won’t scoop up foundation with them

I'm Afro Caribbean and I think it's super cute on every race! I love seeing all races with braids, dreads, laid edges, etc. Beauty is not meant for one culture, don't let anyone make you feel insecure because of their own stupidity and insecurity.
