In this video, I'll show you how I managed to tame my yarn stash - by organizing it with me!
If you're like me, you have a huge yarn stash that's become a bit of a mess. In this video, I'll show you how I managed to organize my yarn, making it easier to find what I'm looking for. Not to mention, this video is a great way to get organized and stay on top of your yarn stash - no more struggling to find that one color of yarn you need!
In this video, I'm going to show you how I tamed my wild yarn stash! I've been struggling to find a way to organize my yarn for months, and I finally found the solution in this video. Now THIS is a yarn stash that nearly rivals mine! I’m a yarn-aholic. I can’t control my urge to buy more yarn for projects that I’ve yet to start. Watching others with as much yarn makes me feel not alone with my yarn obsession.

I was thinking about cleaning my yarn room, and then I saw your video. No way. I'm not starting any organizing right now. I will wait until I see your finished room. Besides, I'm pretty sure I need to buy a few more shelves before I can get started. Good luck. I know you can get this done. You will be so happy when you are finished.

Bahahahahaha, I don't blame you for not starting yet!!! Maybe it wouldn't take so long if I didn't keep changing my mind but it's still a big task! I'm pleased with my progress, but yikes lol 😂😂😂

I am totally addicted to yarn. I have taken one of my bedrooms and transformed it into my yarn room. There is nothing but yarn in this room (no bed). I purchased wooden crates from Joanne fabrics and used them to store and organize my yarn. I also have a trail of destruction and trying to reorganize. My crates are stacked 6 crates high and placed along the walls in the yarn room. It is going to take me a month to reorganize because I have to buy more crates. I don't feel so bad about my addiction to yarn after watching your video.

Lol I think “trail of destruction “ is the most accurate way to describe what I created too!!! 😂😂😂 Don’t feel bad! There’s a lot worse things we could be out doing instead of creating joy with yarn! At least that’s how I see it. I could definitely utilize my space more if I didn’t have to have a bed in here lol. Thanks for watching and commenting, I appreciate it!

Last year I organized my statch using plastic milk crates. I lined them up on their side across two walls in my office/yarn room. This really helps because I can see instantly what I have without moving stuff around

I love that idea Jan! And it sounds like it was an affordable project too. I’m the same way, I have to see what I have or I forget what I have lol. I actually have a yarn room cleaning video coming out this afternoon too! I’m not super good at maintaining the tidiness and it had gotten messy again 🤦🏻‍♀️

@@ShannonTalksYarn To be honest, I don’t have enough milk crates or room to put all my yarn out. I make baby blankets for my local pregnancy center and so for 6 months of the year I make light weight blankets using 3 ply yarn, and that’s what I have in the milk crates. When it’s time to switch to heavier weight blankets, I unload 2 dressers and several totes and switch the yarn. My husband passed away almost two years ago and ever since he died I’ve let my yarn Stacy get out of hand

@janknecht139 I’m so sorry for your loss!!! I think it’s very normal to go to the things that comfort us when we are grieving. I think it’s ok and don’t worry about sorting, tidying, or using up the yarn until you are ready ❤️❤️❤️ And that’s so awesome you make baby blankets!

I have to punch in for work but am coming back later. I think your organizational way of thinking will work for me so I'm gonna try it. By the way, I like your very down to earth, real way of videoing. Everything's not PERFECT, and probably a whole lot of us can relate to that. I appreciate it! ** So I think the idea of putting all my yarn out on the bed is going to work for me because every other thing I've tried ... mainly trying to get a skein or two out every few nights and sort of log it and organize it just isn't working. I believe it's ALL going to have to come out on a rainy day so I can look at ALL of it at the same time and go from there. Fingers crossed.

I used under the bed storage organizer (that I bought at Wal mart) to store some of my yarn in our guest bedroom. I purchased one long one and a set of two smaller ones. I like the two pack smaller ones that I got to separate some different fiber types. I used the large one for my Caron one pound and Lion brand pound of love. Your making progress and your room is lookin good. 💕the dollar tree baskets you have.

This truly just made me want to buy more yarn since you had such pretty yarn 🤩 but my yarn is currently in several bags at the moment since I’ve tried to organize my yarn and my kids just yanked them out. So that task will be for another day. Whenever organization begins you have to make a big mess first.

I started thinking it was going to be like Fibber McGee's closet and something was gonna fall on your head. Hehe. But it wasn't that bad. I've just started this year crocheting and I already have a tiny stash buildup, I imagine in a few years I'll be needing a whole closet or shelf too.

This was so interesting! Organizing doesnt come natural to me at all lol It takes way too much brain power! And I may have laughed a little too hard when you said "monster balls" 😂 That sweet divinity would make an awesome tote bag or backpack since it's not stretchy!

If you like the Breathe Deep and Feels Like Butta, you would also like Bernat Bundle Up yarn. It is the same type of construction and is even softer than the Feels Like Butta. I have a bunch of the Feel'n Chunky cotton too. I love it. I sort of want to make a blanket with it but that would be a really heavy blanket.

You should get your husband to put some shelves on the back wall and your storage would be greatly increased. Or, get another sweater hanger instead of using the shoe hangers. Just a few friendly suggestions.

About to finish a huge cable blanket using Pound of Love in "Quartz" as a wedding gift. I've loved working with it. That "Pumpkin Spice" color is beautiful!! Do you have a particular project in mind for it? I'm looking for excuses to buy that color myself 😁😇

I got it with the intent that I wanted to make a throw blanket with bobble or popcorn stitches since they would be “pumpkin shaped” and since I have plenty of it, it’s ok that it’s a yarn eater stitch 😃 I bet your blanket turn out amazing, cables are so beautiful! 😍

Hi. I have downloaded Yarn Buddy and labeled each tote with an index card with a letter like A, B, etc. (think locations in a warehouse). Then I log each skein, cake and note what bin it is in. I do something similar with the diamond paintings I have as well. Just an idea. Thanks for the video.

I am trying to build a stockpile (of yarn) but it’s SO expensive! Where do you get yarn? Do you buy retail (on sale) or do you have a wholesaler?

I get most of my yarn stockpile from the hobby lobby annual clearance sale. In the past in was usually in June but this year it was in April. They make all their discontinued yarns to 75% off. So I save any gift cards I received and some cash for that. But I have also gotten really good deals at Herrschners.com. Their brand is always a good value but they tend to have good clearance. I’m pretty thrifty so I don’t like to pay full price lol! 😃
