Bullying at school has been growing and its been stressful lately. I'm going to try and start a martial art (thinking muay Thai) but I don't have any "proper equipment" and there's little to non professional dojos of any martial art near me. I already have quite good leg strength and decent flexibility but I don't know if i can train in a martial art without physical teachers. If anyone has any tips or videos that could help me it would be appreciated but its completely fine. To everyone who reads this have a good day!

@@ducknapper1906 Yeah, sure man no problem! Hey, if you want I can add you on discord since it’ll be easier to type on my computer than my phone for me, and it’ll also be easier since we can get each others messages as soon as we send them, being that there is a notification sound! But if you just wanna do it here, than that’s also totally fine. Well I’ll start you off with a Muay Thai tip, when your kicking in Muay Thai, your mainly taught to strike with the hard bone of the shin. Like you know when you’re playing soccer and you have to wear shin pads? You usually wanna strike with where the shin pads would go.

@sluganimatez2543 also on of my friends had an idea (just to note he doesnt have much knowledge ir skills in any forms of martial arts). So he told me that I should learn how to do more punches, especially especially self defense punches are better than kicks in most situations. He told me to do whatever i want to do, whether that is muay thai or boxing or taekwondo but he said that maybe studying the dynamics of another martial art, like boxing, slightly so I gain a better understanding of other martial arts and eventually mold my own style that is good for me. Personally I liked this idea as it is optional, except from the muay Thai part, but it would also grant me a better understanding of punching and footwork, which would be better than kicking in a street fight or situation where I resort to violence to keeping myself safe. Anyways lmk what you think if this idea and if I should follow along with it, thanks again for your help!
@sluganimatez2543
@sluganimatez2543 3 месяца назад
@@ducknapper1906 Hm.. well he does have a good point on molding together your own style, but that’s mostly the only valid thing out of everything your friend said. What I’d say is watch videos on different styles of martial arts/self defense. My personal opinion would be kyokushin, since we’re mainly taught to destroy. But Muay Thai is also very useful since Muay Thai kicks can generate as much power as a baseball bat. Also, Muay Thai is “focused on one area attacks” are very useful as well since that’s how a bullet kills. It focuses damage and pressure on one part of the body. But this part is up to you. You can watch through reviews of different styles and see which one fits you best! If there is a specific style you would like more info or tips on, I’m right here!

Hi, Your boxing is ok for a martial artist, if you want to box like a boxer then concentrate on your footwork 1st. You switch as if you're going to kick. But you need to firstly think weather you want to box like a boxer.

Hey Nat, great video. Your kicks are amazing. I’m a kickboxer who came from shotokan karate and just wanted to give you a tip when you’re sparring. Instead of moving in and out, like a blitz, I suggest moving circularly or at an angle. So for example, every time you jab, you could step in but also out a small bit with your lead leg, or if you’re cornered you could use your lead arm to angle off your opponent by blocking their vision and circularly moving out. Hope this helps! I love your videos!!

Constructive feedback, as requested. When throwing those lead hand body shots, (9:11) youre leading in a bit with your head. Now, it may be camera angle, but it looks real prime for a solid cross stright to the face. A suggestion would be to obscure the head exposure by firing a cross, then turn into that lead hand body shot. The idea being that you could minimize the window for a counter by not throwing it naked. Good training video!

When I was learning to box after having done karate what helped me the most was slowly adjusting my stances. I started with arms lower and focusing on the legs/footwork and keeping my head moving. Then I steadily raised the hands. You do well enough that if you get everything but the arms down first the arms will get there.

Ok so I do have some notes on the boxing, you should twist your hand more on the jab (thumb should point slightly down), I recently started doing this because I worked with a high level boxer who suggested it. Now my jab is hard and my shoulder is raised during because of this. Also, fully extend the cross to the head. Make sure your weight is going into it. Lead hook looks pretty damn good and so does the uppercut. Kicks are phenomenal.

My Taekwondo instructor combines boxing with our kicking combos. Having also recently started, Shotokan, I can see how the stances may seem a bit restrictive. But, as with Taekwondo, it's possible to incorporate a few combos into karate.

Hey Nat. Hope you are well. I am by no means an authority on boxing but I do have about 6 months Muay Thai (Thai Boxing) experience and also come from a traditional background (Taekwondo). Noticing a couple of the mistakes which I did (and still do) make, which you can work on: 1. Pick a guard and stick to it: when punching always keep your hand tight to your head and don't lower your hands before you punch 2. When throwing a cross / overhand, try not to bend your knee as much, but twist through the ball of your foot and your hips for power instead 3. To minimise risk of a concussion keep your chin down so your opponent doesn't catch you on the jaw but rather on the forehead (good for your brain and bad for their knuckles) 4. When throwing the body jab (great technique btw) try and slip instead of ducking so your power goes forward 5. Play around with multiple forms of defense (head movement, parrying, long guard, high guard, ect) Thanks for the awesome content and good luck. :)

Boxing looks solid. Of course you can notice the style you do is not rooted in boxing, but you do not really do too much that would be considered wrong. If i would say anything, it is that you should do more head movement and more defensive moves when on the bag. Even tough the bag doesn’t hit back, you should act like it can. Also you shuffle around your hands in the guard, and occasionally drop them low, but these are just bad habits and you should be able to fix them, and they only happen occasionally. (This is before watching the sparring) After the watching the sparring I have some suggestions. You need to improve the footwork. For example when throwing the jab, you sometimes step forward with the lead leggings, without moving the rear and you get put in this really awkward super wide stance. You seem to not be so agile while in this stance, and it is almost like you were standing there waiting to get hit because you had such a hard time to move. This is just 1 example. If you want it could give more, but I won’t bother writing knowing if you would read it. Also when he gets into closer range after backing you up into a corner, you are obviously uncomfortable and want to get out. You even crouch down and do some weird stuff. Instead, i would just suggest clinching. Just clinching up and try to get out while he can’t throw punches.

mate, your kicks are a work of art. If i have seen anything wrong with your boxing, is that you should pop that jab more, youre using it merely as a range_finder. try taking it back just as fast as you threw it. then it will burn the opponents face. Also, if you wanna put more power in it, jab as you step with your lead leg, think of it like the end of a stiff blunt stick. Apart from that, you have good boxing, and are very unpredictable, it would be pretty awkaward tp fight you. Cheers and sorry for the bad english.

I'm no professional, but here's some things I've seen professional boxers do: 1. The hands ALWAYS stay up, you have to keep a constant guard. 2. Change angles frequently (you can do this on the bag & in sparring). Changing angles can give you a tactical advantage; more openings, and it also can give you extra momentum in your punches if done right. Try snapping to another side of the bag/your opponent and attacking from there. Like I said, I'm no professional, but I hope I was helpful 👍

my boxing coach used to use a ridge hand strike for his hook, and it was longer, also try to punch from your forearms, kinda like a cat, and when you throw your punches act like your are rowing, kinda like those cat statues you’d see in a chinese food place. I hope you understand what i am trying to say😂 my boxing coach did karate before boxing and he mixed a lot of his karate into the boxing, also after you throw your punches throw a jab after, don’t get used to throwing two punches and stopping, i know we use legs elbows and knees too however for you hands make combos and end them with a jab or double jab after

I hate skipping, but I cant deny it's good for you Also you probably know this already know/do this, but when your punching look down through your eyebrows and move your shoulder up to or around your ear, doing this means that your are at less risk of hooks ,because of your shoulder placement, and your opposite hand shields the other side of your face which puts you only at risk of uppercuts, but people don't generally throw many uppercuts (touch wood). Also congrats on 900k soon at that million

I train hamstrings everyday. 3 - 5 sets of 90 seconds. Hamstrings is my favorite because their easy to stretch where ever.
